Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Rich in Washington:

Hi Joe! It's originally from a compilation called Don Simmons Plays The Organ Grinder Wurlitzer Pipe Organ but I don't know the year. Even Discogs doesn't have a year. I would put it at 1977 or so, based on the (then) popular songs on it.
Swag For Life Member 9:15am 12539:

Are you playing a whole set of music from WFMU? I *love* that station!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am The Oscar:

Wanda Jackson's pronunciation of the word "man" is rivaled only by Nico's pronunciation of "clown."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Roger:

Fantastic show!
Avatar 9:35am djsheilab:

Morning Joe! Love the "Premium" theme.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am Webhamster Henry:

There are some WFMU premiums that I play over and over, like Gaylord's At A Loss for Words and The Meter is Running, and back in the cassette days, Ken's Happy Listener's Guide to Mind Control.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am The Oscar:

"You're a Real Good Friend" would make a great double-header with Inflatable Boy Clams' "I'm Sorry."

Avatar 9:45am Joe McG:

Hey Roger! Hi, Sheila! I had a hard time deciding with your CD! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Mick:

@Webhamster Henry: "Fayelord '66" has become a go-to when we want a mood lifter
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Rich in Washington:

I think this was the most difficult year for choosing my premium CD. So many good ones to choose from this year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am The Oscar:

Sheila's "Go-Go Mini-Mini Ye-Ye" and Becky's "Sixteen Tons of Preachin' Talk" are both go-to's for me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am Webhamster Henry:

@Mick I was going to include that too, but I was already posting aa Gaylord-heavy list! I also play a lot of Rob W's collections! And Charlie's "Happy Town / Crazy Town".

Yes, reluctant pledgers, the prizes are totally worth it!
  9:50am Mike tp:

Jeanine my entry point..good morning!!!!! everyone!!!
Avatar 9:53am Joe McG:

There are so many great premiums. Of Gaylord's I'm particularly fond of "Dusty Covers" and the bossa nova one.

Bruce could have written this song about WFMU
  10:20am David in London:

Springsteen recorded his first albums in the same out of the way studio that Suicide recorded their first album. It's now an 'auto spa'. Today's fascinating fact.
  10:20am David in London:

Hey Brian and John from FP.
  10:20am LP Stevenson:

Sounds kind of like Cheree Cheree. An homage?
  10:22am John from florham park:

Hey David what’s up
Avatar 10:23am Joe McG:

@David: Nice trivia! @LP: It's actually a cover of a Suicide song, so very much so.
  10:23am John from florham park:

Have a nice sleep iggy
Avatar 10:24am Fernando P.:

Happy Birthday to Linda Ronstadt! I have a thing for LR for some years now. Its so hard to find her records here in Brazil, but Discogs tells me that the 7” for “It’s so Easy” had a domestic release and I’m on the hunt!
Avatar 10:25am Brian in UK:

Hello David, getting summery here.
Show is a good soundtrack to the travelogue that is the Tour de France.
Avatar 10:27am Joe McG:

@Fernando: Wow, Fernando, LR is a perennial dollar bin find here in the U.S. That's so amazing! @Brian: Get on your bike and ride!
  10:32am David in London:

@John, a day of minor admin at home today. But the window is open, the breeze is blowing, and Joe McG is wafting in on the airwaves... How's yourself?
  10:33am David in London:

@Brian - Ah! You're a Tour follower too? Me as well. How are you enjoying this year? Been an amazing first week this year I reckon.
  10:33am John from florham park:

Pretty good being lazy
  10:33am LP Stevenson:

Derp! Thanks for that, Joe. I’m a longtime Bruce fan but just discovering Suicide.

Morning, Joe and all!
Avatar 10:37am Brian in UK:

David, love the grand tours of Italy, France and Spain. You get to see so much of the country. The tour went through St Etienne the other day, saw the football stadium that St Etienne's (the group)name derived from.
Some Delgados would be appropriate.
  10:37am melinda:

I love this Spiritualized, heard it first on the soundtrack from Me You and Everyone We Know.
Avatar 10:38am Brian in UK:

David watching it on S4C but need my wife for translation!! So, will settle for Joe's selections.
Avatar 10:39am Joe McG:

@LP: I envy you your discovery! @martinib: Yes and yes!
Avatar 10:40am Brian in UK:

Was this the Troggs originally?
Avatar 10:42am Joe McG:

@Brian: Evie Sands or the Troggs, I'm not sure who did it first.

Avatar 10:51am Joe McG:

@oscar: Ha ha ha. I love them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am pantz:

Hey, they had CB's AND airplanes back then too!
Avatar 10:54am Joe McG:

@pantz: They never tell you that in history class.
  10:55am VincentNifigance:

This is amazing. Do they reach the airports?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am The Oscar:

A bicentennial CB song feels like the essence of 1976.
  10:58am David in London:

@Brian - I haven't been out for a couple of years, but a group of friends and I have been out to the Tour for many years through the Nineties and Noughties. It's a real hoot. Middle aged responsibility getting in the way now rather.
Avatar 11:03am βrian:

I associate this song with washing dishes in a Family restaurant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Greg from ZONE 5:

"If it makes you feel good, do it."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am TristaC.LadyCaveBrat:

More Than a Feeling will always remind me of some amazing crusty townies blasting it at 7:30 in the morning in a of town square in Cambridge. Amazing.
  11:05am BetsyO:

Boston on FMU,.... Wow,... I’ve only heard this song 2 million and 666 thousand times in my long life,... which is why I listen to WoofMoo, to flee the ear noise and comfortable,... ,... I’ll forgive you this time.
Avatar 11:05am Brian in UK:

David how sensible! Did you go to the mountain stages? The top last few hundred metres on Thursday was 24%. Nuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am The Oscar:

I respect that song a lot more with the knowledge that it was pretty much one guy toiling in the studio to create the perfect pop rock song. I had a professor in college who was a Boston-area rock DJ in the '70s and '80s, and he said everyone was baffled when this massive arena rock band appeared out of nowhere.
  11:06am Kerbo:

I found an unopened original picture disc of that Boston album at a garage sale.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am TristaC.LadyCaveBrat:

It IS so good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Webhamster Henry:

The cure for "More Than a a Feeling" is CCC's "Feeling Prudence's Babas" which is a mashup of MTAF, Dear Prudence and Baba O'Reilly.
  11:10am David in London:

@Brian - A variety, some end of stages in cities, some mountains (the Galibier and the Ventoux are favourites). It's a grand day out, to be sure. On a totally different note, if it's not too presumptuous, may I send you something in the post? Our new album is out (WFMU have played it several times) and I would like to send it to you. If you email me your postal address at daonamusic@outlook.com I'll pop a copy in the post to you.
  11:12am BetsyO:

I blame the Unicon Cult for putting s spell on FMU, thus allowing Boston on the playlist,... what else may be in store?????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morris Day holds Prince's mirror. Theoretically speaking.
  11:15am SWIVS:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am pantz:

SWIVS! I'll take your cape too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am The Oscar:

Prince doing Morris Day spoken fills is probably worth the price of the record alone.
  11:16am BetsyO:

Oh yeah,... Prince to the rescue,... clears bad mojo cult spells in 3 bars and one utterance of an erotic yelp!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am The Oscar:

There is a deep, dark part of me that wants to hear Prince's demo of "Donald Trump (Black Version)."
Avatar 11:17am Brian in UK:

David you bet.
Avatar 11:19am Joe McG:

Did you know that Prince did the theme to "Happy Feet," the penguin movie? I just heard it the other day.
