  9:21am Listener Gregory:

Oy!
Avatar 9:22am ausmanx:

there's a really good roofer nearby here, doug, a sole trader, but i suspect his call-out fee might be a bit high getting to your place
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Doug Schulkind:

Hmmm. Maybe I can upload the roof and have him email it back. Thanks, ausmanx!
Avatar 9:26am ausmanx:

are we to deduce from this that Jesus had a bad foot too?
  9:27am Listener Gregory:

I'm getting a new roof for the house I just bought. Signed the contract in early June, projected construction date: some time in October. Fortunately, its condition is not dire. But roofers obviously fill up their schedules in the summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Doug Schulkind:

He had a terrible bunion problem. Then he created large Paul to chop them off. Thus the legend of Paul Bunion was born.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:29am Maggie B.:

Oh Doug, homeowners' nightmares! Been there. At the moment we're refashioning the guest room into a cozy living space for my 94-year-old mom in law. As soon as it's done, she's moving in with us permanently.
  9:32am Alex In Illinois:

Whenever I heard the phrase "Good Foot", I think of the James Brown tune with that guitar part going: "Jonk donk dank Jank dink dink dank dank Jonk donk dank Jank dink dink dank dank ..."

I love how you've capitalized only the Jonks and Janks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am Phillippe Bastille:

Doug, my bride and I purchased a "charming" 1,000 sq ft (almost falling down) beach cottage outside of Annapolis (the only way we could afford being on the water), supposedly our retirement place. Built in 1955. Plumbing, foundation, electric, roof all needed to be repaired or replaced. Started to do renovations and saw one of the exterior walls was built with 2x2s instead of 2/6s. The pier is kinda nice though.
Avatar 9:44am Marc Francis:

@ listener james from westwood: ♥ ♥ ♥
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Doug Schulkind:

If God had wanted 2x6's, he would have marched us that way onto the Ark.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am Doug Schulkind:

@Webhamster Henry
Poor dear NOLA.
Avatar 10:11am ausmanx:

The occupants of Frank Lloyd Wright's most celebrated houses have been obliged to drag out buckets, bowls and soup cans in many a rainstorm. Or as a colleague of mine once put it: "They don't call it 'falling water' for nothing."

Wright once received a call from an irate client who complained that the roof was leaking all over her dinner guests.

"Tell him to move his chair," he responded.

To the complaint of another waterlogged client, he calmly declared: "If it didn't leak, it wouldn't be a roof."
  10:13am Listener Gregory:

I'm trying to assign a genre to this Gerlach piece and failing. I should just stop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Doug Schulkind:

My father had connections to the family that owned Fallingwater. (I believe they were clients of his law firm.) He once stayed there overnight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Doug Schulkind:

Here is the genre, LG: Songs your mother never sang
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Gina B:

That's pretty cool, Doug.

Despite living about 90 minutes away from Fallingwater for the past nine years, I've still never been.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Phillippe Bastille:

Once while on vacation on the Maine coast, we saw a whale from our cabin's back porch. So I kinda get what you mean.
  10:21am Listener Gregory:

Doug, the genre of songs my never sang is approximately your entire setlists... unless you have snuck in some snippets of La Boheme when I wasn't listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Doug Schulkind:

La Boheme is what's gurlging up in my basement right now.

Our theatre here has water in the basement every high tide. When the tidal range is 29 feet, one hears a great deal of gurgling while attending performances. Sometime interesting, in context, other times...in the ear of the beholders, I guess.

"‘Of all the architects of the Prairie School who were practising at the turn of the century, only three stayed loyal to their ideals and fought to their dying days for their personal visions of modern architecture. Two of them - Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright - have been immortalised among the legion of great architects. It is time to accord Walter Burley Griffin a place near them.’ - Paul Kruty. Griffin came to Australia, of course. End of story. Where architects come to die. Just ask Jorn Utzon.
