Avatar 6:04pm cometothesunshine:

  6:04pm jfmlaugh:

Hello Andrew! This is going to be awesome!
  6:04pm Javi & Camilla:

Hi Andrew from Argentina!!!
We are listening with my gf Camilla here and loving your show.
She wants to know when will you work on a deluxe edition of Trafalgar as that is her favorite Bee Gees album!
Ps: we love The Cyrkle and Neil Sedaka.
Avatar 6:05pm cometothesunshine:

thanks and welcome jfm~!
Avatar 6:06pm cometothesunshine:

Hi Javi & Camilla - I would love to work on that Bee Gees record, but I have a feeling that Universal Music Group have no plans to do anything with it. Sorry to say.
  6:08pm jfmlaugh:

How many of today's songs are from your recent trip?
Avatar 6:09pm cometothesunshine:

a few - jfm - since Sedaka had strong ties to Australia and made an album there in 1969
  6:12pm uptownjen:

Hey, friends!
Avatar 6:13pm cometothesunshine:

welcome, jen
  6:13pm Doug in Boston:

Is is true that the Brill Building in NY wasn't actually where it all happened?
Avatar 6:14pm cometothesunshine:

Doug - there was more than one office that songwriters assembled at.
  6:14pm Javi & Camilla:

What a coincidence!
I bought the Neil Sedaka Bear Family boxed set and it got stuck at the customs. I will pick it up (after paying the fee) on Wednesday.
Did you work on that box?
Avatar 6:15pm cometothesunshine:

But 1650 Broadway is hard to beat.
Avatar 6:15pm cometothesunshine:

I did not work on that box, Javi - but I did use it for a few things on this show.
Avatar 6:17pm cometothesunshine:

Great chord changes in this bridge.
Avatar 6:20pm GFaulkner:

tuned in!
Avatar 6:20pm cometothesunshine:

welcome, GF
  6:23pm Doug in Boston:

Calendar Girl was the one Sedaka record that had never worked for me, seeming just a bit too contrived. But that changed fast when I saw the Scopitone film for it on YouTube. Wow, what a production!
  6:23pm jfmlaugh:

I have to leave the chat...but I'll be mobile and listening. 10 songs in and it's spectacular! Thanks Andrew!
Avatar 6:25pm KarenS:

Hi Kids!
Great show so far Andrew!
Avatar 6:25pm cometothesunshine:

Doug - you won't be hearing Calendar Girl today
Avatar 6:26pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, jfm!
Avatar 6:26pm cometothesunshine:

Welcome, Karen S
  6:26pm Doug in Boston:

The less familiar the better, as far as I'm concerned.
Avatar 6:28pm GFaulkner:

The Answer Lies Within - this one is outstanding
Avatar 6:30pm KarenS:

Avatar 6:32pm cometothesunshine:

yeah, that is a standout GF
Avatar 6:33pm cometothesunshine:

Maybe my favorite discovery from compiling this show.
Avatar 6:36pm GFaulkner:

really nice melody
Avatar 6:36pm cometothesunshine:

A lot of melancholy in the Sedaka songbook
Avatar 6:38pm cometothesunshine:

I tried to avoid any of the obvious stuff in this show.
Avatar 6:38pm Mailman Tom:

Great program tonite, Andrew!
Avatar 6:39pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, MT!
Avatar 6:40pm cometothesunshine:

Today almost didn't happen due to tech issues - computer issues - lost hours of work. But thanks to Debbie D it is happening for you!
Avatar 6:42pm GFaulkner:

Avatar 6:43pm Debbie D.:

Anything for a little sunshine!
Avatar 6:44pm KarenS:

Thank you Debbie!

Avatar 6:45pm cometothesunshine:

  6:46pm ?:

ps.....you ROCK, Andrew! Thank you for the sunshine :)
Avatar 6:47pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks! "?"
  6:48pm Javi & Camilla:

Love The Monkees singing Neil!
BTW when are we getting a.3 CD deluxe of Headquarters and Pieces, etc etc from Rhino?
I have all others and they put 99% of the re-releases ever to shame.
Avatar 6:48pm cometothesunshine:

Probably Oct/Nov, Javi - must get back to work on it.
Avatar 6:52pm Debbie D.:

Avatar 6:54pm cometothesunshine:

Thumbs up !
Avatar 7:01pm GFaulkner:

I need to look into late 60s Neil releases more.
Avatar 7:02pm cometothesunshine:

he has fewer than I would like - not albums between 1966-1969. He had a few one off singles in the late 1960's - but mostly demoed things for other artists.
  7:03pm Sherri H:

I was able to share today's sunshine with my patients while they ate. Lots of smiles! Thanks so much Andrew!
Avatar 7:04pm cometothesunshine:

I am so glad, Sherri! Thanks!
Avatar 7:04pm cometothesunshine:

This album was surprisingly hard to track down.
Avatar 7:05pm GFaulkner:

ah, i see. It's a keeper.
Avatar 7:06pm cometothesunshine:

It isn't worth any money down there and therefore no one had it in their stores.
  7:07pm Amy:

Loving the show, Andrew!
Avatar 7:08pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Amy!
Avatar 7:08pm cometothesunshine:

I am so glad - I had some moments where I almost left this unfinished
Avatar 7:10pm KarenS:

Did he produce this LP?
Avatar 7:12pm cometothesunshine:

Yes, he co-produced it
  7:12pm uptownjen:

Yeah, this record sounds great.
Avatar 7:12pm cometothesunshine:

He couldn't even get a US deal for it
  7:15pm Javi & Camilla:

How do we get this 1969 album on cd along with bonus tracks?
  7:15pm dano59:

Well worth the effort you put into the hunt. (A
Avatar 7:16pm cometothesunshine:

Oh! Gidget
Avatar 7:17pm GFaulkner:

Thank you, Colgems. Seriously.
Avatar 7:17pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Dano!
Avatar 7:19pm cometothesunshine:

I love this song - the world through a tear - written by Chris & Peter Allen
Avatar 7:22pm cometothesunshine:

Sedaka was multilingual and released lots of recordings in a variety of languages
Avatar 7:22pm GFaulkner:

Yes, a good thing going here.
  7:23pm Javi & Camilla:

My GF loves Neil's Italian stuff.
Avatar 7:23pm cometothesunshine:

Tony Orlando channeling Sam Cooke/Bobby Darin
Avatar 7:24pm GFaulkner:

...and channeling it fairly well.
  7:26pm Javi & Camilla:

I know it's a long shot but how cool would it be for Bear Family to release Neil's recordings 1967-1980 on a second boxed set?
  7:27pm uptownjen:

Man, Neil’s demos were fully-realized (not unlike Carole King, etc., I suppose).
Avatar 7:27pm cometothesunshine:

I doubt they would do a second box
  7:29pm uptownjen:

“Ain’t That Peculiar” meets Neil Diamond
Avatar 7:31pm cometothesunshine:

very much, jen
Avatar 7:32pm cometothesunshine:

This one would be great with Eric Stewart singing
Avatar 7:34pm Mailman Tom:

Dave the Spazz always has a drop in that includes Neal Sedaka's voice.
Avatar 7:52pm cometothesunshine:

It has been a lot of fun chatting today - thanks so much everyone!
Avatar 7:53pm Woof:

Thank you, Andrew! Such a great show!!!
Avatar 7:53pm KarenS:

This has been a classic CTTS show! Worthy of many repeat listenings. Thank you Andrew for your dedication to your listeners!
  7:54pm uptownjen:

Great show, Andrew!
  7:54pm Javi & Camilla:

Loved the show, thank you Andrew!
