Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 12:56am Mark Kingsley:

Was in Japan for work last year... All that Japanese music, like Sadesper Record, comes out of places which are so foreign to my American sensibility. It's all so well-crafted and gorgeous, but often presented through comics. Grown up yet childlike. Always a treat whenever I'm exposed to it. Thank you.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 12:59am sv:

couldn't agree more, mark -thank you for listening!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:02am sv:

where in japan did you go? i'd love to visit someday

hey SV and everyone
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:09am Mark Kingsley:

Tokyo. Was there on a project for the country's premiere source for adult video. One of the most amazing experiences I've had. Used to go there for banking projects. But they were (obviously) boring compared to this.

Also... the pizza in Tokyo is astoundingly good!
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:10am Tak:

7 songs is totally a july album
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:11am sv:

Wow, that's not what i expected to hear when you said you were there for business!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:11am sv:

@tak 7 songs is so goddamn good - heard it for the first time a few weeks ago, really knocked me on my ass
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:37am BH:

been listening from Missouri through TuneIn for an hour-ish.
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:39am ?:

I've always heard it pronounced as noy, like noise without the z sound.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:39am Mark Kingsley:

Yes, "noy"
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:40am rw:

The above comment was mine. In case it matters. Hey SV!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:40am sv:

Glad i got it wrong on both counts :(
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:40am sv:

at least i know now!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:40am sv:

hey bh and rw, thanks for tuning in!
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:40am rw:

Neu! is German for New! I've been told.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 1:42am sv:

that's always what i guessed it meant but was too lazy to look it up to confirm
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:44am rw:

And I think there's a connection to Kraftwerk and maybe some other German bands like Cluster maybe, but I'm bad at remembering that shit.
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:49am rw:

Oh, and I forgot. It's supposed to be all caps: NEU!

And that's enough about NEU!. Keep it churning...
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:51am ignatatus666:

Digging the playlist
Excellent music for my taxi customers

No skateboarding in the rear of the Taxi!!!
  Mon. 7/1/19 1:58am rw:

Okay, one more thing... It's been a long time so I could be remembering this incorrectly but as I recall, my friend Jim had a NEU! single when we were in high school. Would have been the first time I had heard of them. Probably '79 or '80. The single had two holes; one centered and one off center. The off center one made the record warble. Plus there were at least one or two lock-grooves. One of the coolest things I ever did see-hear.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 2:01am sv:

@rw ugh that's so cool - i'd love to hear that warble
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/1/19 2:10am coelacanth∅:

greetings sv and knowhere people
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 2:11am sv:

@ coelacanth∅ welcome!
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:11am rw:

Weird. I can't find anything about that record on the internet. Maybe it wasn't NEU!. But I'm pretty sure it was. And it would make total sense with what they were doing. I don't trust my brain anymore so please take anything I say with a grain of salt.
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:12am rw:

Hey coelacanth. I consider myself an unknowhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/1/19 2:17am coelacanth∅:

hey rw
...i'm an unknownwhere
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:22am Dean:

@rw: You're thinking of NON, a.k.a. Boyd Rice. It was his first release.
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:25am Dean:

I heard NON at Kelbo's, a tiki restaurant on Pico Blvd., a fairly notorious show during which the promoters secured chairs against the doors of the room in which he played to assure he'd be able to make his ghastly noise for the duration. It was an extremely loud performance.
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:28am Dean:

  Mon. 7/1/19 2:28am rw:

Dean, you're right! Thank you! Apologies for my brain.
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:30am Dean:

Well, I didn't know that System 7 had paid tribute to NEU!, so there's that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/1/19 2:31am coelacanth∅:

sounds like oxygene
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:32am Dean:

System 7's 2013 record with Rovo, Phoenix Rising, is really good.
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:48am Dean:

Listening from Berkeley. Returned not an hour ago from a performance nearby in a dive bar by Endangered Blood. Was exquisite.
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:52am Tak:

Cool my wake up alarm. Splazsh is an infinite album
  Mon. 7/1/19 2:58am rw:
