Hi Daniel and Bluminites
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm medson:

Hola Daniel
Avatar 9:04pm northguineahills:

For all the Bruce haters in Woofmoo land, I always point to the split Bruce Springsteen/Alan Vega split 10" where Bruce covers, "Dream, Baby Dream", w/ not much more then a tenor accordion and his voice....
Avatar 9:04pm CC:

High DB... is there any kind of reoccurring theme in your show tonight???...hehehe...
Avatar 9:05pm CC:

I love Bruce!!!...
Avatar 9:07pm CC:

The first time I ever saw Bruce was at Alex Cooley's electric Ballroom in Atlanta Georgia back in 1975!!!... still got the flyer in the ticket stubs!!...

Love this show. Love WFMU FRIDAYS!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm coelacanth∅:

my sister burns incense nearby when she's in one place for a long time outside -which is usually because she obsesses about weeds (very much to the detriment of her garden/yard) and will sit in one spot digging up weeds (destroying the ecology) for like over an hour at a time.
she says it does keep the skeeters and gnats away, though not as well as some sunblock/repellent that i don't know the name of.
Avatar 10:19pm CC:

I've heard that you have to purchase the Blessed incense in order to keep pestilence away?!?...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm coelacanth∅:

CC fox news is actually an escape from reality; a brainwashing technique that seems to work wonderfully on idiots.
'pretends to be "news" (based on responsible journalism) but only fools fall for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Daniel Blumin:

Thankee, kindlee, tripod!!! Happy that Idaho is in the house and with clean windows to boot!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm chresti:

I missed Mercury Rev on the first go-round, too@TDK60
I burn incense and sticks-paulo santos
Avatar 10:22pm northguineahills:

My Proto-Germanic Norweigian tells me that Storlokken is a surname that means Big lid or large sheets.... (I like thinking about surnames, some are more forthcoming then others...).
Avatar 10:22pm northguineahills:

I burn incense when I'm too lazy to do the dishes after cooking (like tonight).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm melinda:

@coel my sister burns incense to repel the skeeters too! While visiting her recently it was nice having it there for our outdoor visits but I had to use repellent anyway, I'm a mosquito magnet. I might try burning a few sticks at once to see if that works.
Avatar 10:24pm northguineahills:

@coel: when visiting my parents, my mom watches fox 24/7. My father is a conservative military man, but, will watch other news coverage, and has other hobbies. It's still disconcerting since my mother voted for Clinton in '92 and used to teach art history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm coelacanth∅:

i think it needs to be very close by to work at all
Avatar 10:24pm CC:

Well I'm happy to say that I took 3 years of Journalism in high school from 1969 until 1972 and we were still interested in the 5 W's and the one H!!!...and the ecology...the economy...peace...love...brotherhood...sisterhood...tolerance...sharing...caring...etc... Avatar 10:27pm TDK60:

comment> Me? I burn entire blocks, like Godzilla, to get them skeeters away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm coelacanth∅:

maybe (like frankinsense -sp?) you have to put it on a hot piece of charcoal to keep it lit.

Avatar 10:28pm Nephilim:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm chresti:

@melinda, have to keep lighting or let the flame burn longer when you light it, I think
Avatar 10:28pm northguineahills:

If I go out at dusk, I wear J+ thin long sleaves (very thin and coolong) and jeans to avoid the mosquitos. (I'm literally surrounded by swamps here in FL). Outside of dusk, it's not usually a problem, my blood is must be poison to them (my whole life, my gfs, my now wife, will get eaten up, and I'll rarely get a bite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm chresti:

Made some incense a while back, during this show. It has some frankincense and other resins to place on a hot piece of charcoal
I get bit by the tiny brazilian skeeter, I think. All hours of the day, and it comes inside the house
Avatar 10:39pm northguineahills:

@Nephilim: I have yet to get a mosquito bite in the last few years in FL. I did get a deerfly bite.

@coel:My mother did a total 180 and makes my father look like a rational moderate, it's scary.

I feel it's too early to be really interested in any of the Democratic candidates, especially since there are a hundred of them. One of my takeaways from the last few years has been that it doesn't pay to hyper-focus on presidential/federal level politics anyway, much to do at state and local levels.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm coelacanth∅:

yellowjackets are the only wasps i have trouble with, and i encounter several species of wasp regularly.
they've evolved into hyper-aggressive, hyper-territorial assholes.
bad for people and bad for the ecology of the planet, i think.
  10:59pm JakeGould:

@Ike: My favorite comment about the debates was the conceptual idea of just sneaking some random white guy in a suit into the mix to see if anyone would notice. You could get like 2-3 real estate agents in there and nobody would notice.

I also really like Marianne Williamson. If Trump won, why not the inspirational quote lady?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm melinda:

@CC I agree, but feel the left-right axis is too limited a metric. In some respects we have moved further "left" (legal weed, same-sex marriage) yet wealth inequality only gets worse.(and ngh maybe this is part of why it's hard to convince your bros that Dems are right-leaning, since the left has actually made some important cultural gains).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm coelacanth∅:

@melinda@10:52, yes yes yes we need to focus *heavily* on state & local elections. Now that the slimy Supreme Court has declared that states can gerrymander all they want, those state legislatures are more important than ever.

@Ike exactly. There is a movement afoot to enact election reforms and anti-corruption legislation at state and local levels, which I think is crucial to everything. Unfortunately our current media culture encourages people to hyper-focus on hot-button issues only, and local stuff/campaign reform etc. is decidedly cold-button.

The demographic is changing from old rich white males.
Others make their numbers known - & the old guard is going for broke because of it....

We"'ve had Civil War before. There are no guarantees here...

I bet we could probably share Iran with Russia... they could have Northern Iran and we could have Southern Iran!?!... what's the matter with that idea?!?...

Since you asked: Studying the hot dog selection, trying to make a sensible choice.(Nathan's) Considering the fruit options for a pie (Apricot, plum, cherry) Trimming the tree away from the house numbers so the UPS man can't say he couldn't see the address. That's life in the suburbs for you.

The cold war was only cold if you were in ussr or USA. We've been fiddling w/ Iran vs Iraq since @ least 1953. & it's a cliche but yes it was oil.

That treasonous orange dirtbag joked with Putin today about not meddling in the next election. Big joke, very funny. Haha. Makes me puke!
Avatar 11:33pm TDK60:

Franco, I wonder sometimes: are you often hungry?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

He also joked about killing journalists - which Putin has done.

Rev, in an interview w/ FT, Putin claimed “the liberal idea” had “outlived its purpose”, and the public had turned their back on social tolerance, multiculturalism and immigration. Around same time our fella said - It’s a great honor to be with President Putin.... We have many things to discuss, including trade and including some disarmament.” He forgot to mention military parades though...

Yup Putin uses the same tactic as Republicans, blatantly using nativist crap and jabbering about the importance of "traditional" "family" crap as cover for his continued kleptocratic theft and hoarding of $$$ (billions?) in Panama or wherever etc. and also using the Russian Orthodox church as cover.... On a totally different note at least there's some good news somewhere though. New York Times: "HPV vaccines are so effective that cervical cancer could ultimately be eliminated, a new study finds." Thanks Daniel!

Thanks Daniel! Most enjoyable, this is a nice simmering track that goes with my blood pressure rising while thinking about that orange thing
