Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

A new recording of "Who Are You?" :-)
  1:16pm Layton Sports Cards:

Blackburn has a feature on 'is show where he plays a couple of obscure tracks chosen by some guest. The other week he played an obscure 7" single by John Paul Jones pre Zepp. Blackburn wasnt impressed; and I tended to agree wiv im.
Avatar 1:19pm Mr Fab:

Yeah, I think most of 'em had a lot of session work under their belts by the time the Zep took flight. Aren't they all on Donovon's "Hurdy Gurdy man"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - pretty much :-)
@Layton Sports Card - you should check out my Midlands show for early Led Zep.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

What rhymes with Orange?
Avatar 1:35pm Mr Fab:

I wonder why food features so prominently in psychedelia? Maybe everyone had the munchies...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Are you suggesting that psychedelic people took drugs? LOL!
Avatar 1:38pm Martinibomb:

Live is part of the *power* of radio. I think it's a medium that lends itself to that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Exactly - I wrestled with talking live here but then I thought ... Nah - I need to connect. So I shall have to take that plunge! thank you for being so patient with me and the software yesterday. I was determined not to let it defeat me! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Otis Fodder:

Well hello everybody, how's your Friday. I just got back from the market with a bag of plums, want some?
  1:40pm Layton Sports Cards:

Talking of live, ive had to dip in and out of todays show. Lauryn Hill is live on telly at Glastonbury. Its an absolute trainwreck lol. into the 5th song and shes still complaining she cant hear herself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ooo I love plums! Yes please! :-)
Avatar 1:42pm Mr Fab:

more orange psych, tho not British: Burt Ward (Robin on the orig "Batman") did a nutty recording of "Orange Colored Sky" - produced by Zappa! - that Spacebrother Greg's played on his show.
Avatar 1:42pm Martinibomb:

live is more like playing an instrument too.. takes a little time to get the muscle memory so you can do it all. So don't beat yourself up in the beginning there's plenty of time for that hahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is the problem I had - loads of US Orange songs but not many Brit ones :-(
That Burt Ward track is pretty shockingly bad. LOL.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I really enjoyed your live show this week, MB. And looking forward to DJGG taking the plunge whenever she feels the time is right :)
  1:44pm Layton Sports Cards:

Lauryn's had 20 years of performing the same album, and still cant get it right. Theres prima donnas, then theres just plain unprofessionalism
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's because I haven't radio DJ'ed live for about five years. Terror.
Avatar 1:45pm Martinibomb:

Thanks Hopey! It was super fun having you there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Rich in Washington:

OK. Breakfast is happening. Back now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Otis Fodder:

Wednesday was a great first live run MB.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wednesday was fluid, fun, and bloody brilliant :-)
Avatar 1:47pm Martinibomb:

Thanks Otis! yup defiantly worked out lots of bugs on my end hahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Otis Fodder:

Bugs are welcome, makes for fun radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Hey, Rich! What's for breakfast?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Rich in Washington:

we buggin'.
  1:55pm djbearrob:

hey GG - so glad I made it for this oh so fun show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hello, lovely!!!!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Hopey! I made a rather lackluster version of my usual post-latenight radio stint breakfast. We were out of peppers and onions, so really just home fried potatoes and shallots with fresh rosemary and garlic with eggs fried in the middle.
And no sausage because I want to live long enough to see my grandkid graduate from elementary school at least.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Oh man, that sound soooo delish. (even without the sausage)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I still can't quite believe you have a grandkid ... You're not old enough!!! :-)
  1:58pm Layton Sports Cards:

45 mins into her set, shes still complaining about the mic and her earpeace loooooollzzzz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Rich in Washington:

Aw, thanks GeorgyGirl. My achin' body tells me otherwise. Also, another grandkid on the way! Probably late December, but I'm trying to talk them into holding out for new year's day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

:-)
Avatar 2:02pm Martinibomb:

Congratulations Rich!
Avatar 2:03pm Martinibomb:

Can I refer to you as "Gramps" now? heh heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Rich in Washington:

For at least 2 years now, yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

We can do Hee-Haw lines. ;-) What's fer dinner, Grampa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I loved that show growing up :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Otis Fodder:

Congrats Grandpa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Rich in Washington:

I keep finding wether's butterscotch's in my sweater pocket and I have no idea where the sweater came from. Same place as unwanted ear-hair, I suspect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Haha Grampa Rich, it has a certain ring to it :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Rich in Washington:

Did they show Hee Haw in the UK, Georgy, or see it when you were in the US?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Rich in Washington:

We were sort of 'forced' to watch it, being on on Sat night, with one TV in the house. My dad liked it. I mean, what else were we going to do? The TV was ON!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I watched it in Vancouver. Vancouver was April 66 to February 75 :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

BC not Washington :-)
Avatar 2:06pm Martinibomb:

man I hated hee-haw! That and the Waltons .. ug! Which I was born during an episode my Mom said. hahah
  2:06pm Layton Sports Cards:

Random Tweet: Saw Lauryn Hill last weekend. She was sounding great but was having a go at the sound techs anyway, constantly indicating drums, backing singers, and her own voice was too loud than not loud enough. Apparently she's doing the same at #Glastonbury
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Rich in Washington:

That's right!
Poor Vancouver WA! Doomed to be a second city in both name and location.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Otis Fodder:

GG and the kind philosophy! Yea!
Avatar 2:10pm Martinibomb:

I punch to kill, but with kindness. It's a loving death blow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Rich in Washington:

Yes. We watched the Waltons, too.
Somewhere my sister has a cassette tape of a bunch of us kids doing a horrible parody on my dad's tape machine, The Waldos.
That's what happens when the whole family grows up reading Mad Magazine.
Avatar 2:12pm Mr Fab:

Right on, GG. Was one of the reasons why I wanted to start this station - if you don't like the culture, make your own. Make a BETTER culture than the poop you're living in , and others will join you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Love it :-)
Avatar 2:12pm Martinibomb:

oh nice! hopefully u saved those hahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Rich in Washington:

We put the CULT back in culture.
  2:13pm Layton Sports Cards:

Random funny tweet: Lauryn Hill wants her mic... ⬆️⬇️↖️⬅️↘️➡️↕️↖️↕️↩️⤴️ #Glastonbury #laurynhill
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Otis Fodder:

@Fab - Exactly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Due to a shared love of Buck Owens, a friend gave me a DVD of Hee-Haw for a birthday a few years back.
Avatar 2:17pm Mr Fab:

Rich: ha!
We got more culture than yogurt bacteria. (i periodically make up fake Beastie Boys lyrics. Like that one)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Buck Owens and Roy Clarke were heroes for me when I was little :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Otis Fodder:

@Fab - Looking forward to the b-side dub/instrumental mixes (like Hey Ladies) of your new BB jam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Rich in Washington:

I have really warmed to that show in recent years. Went on a jag and watched a bunch on YouTube. Also, really digging 60s country in a way that's unsettling to the missus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I adore 60s and 70s country music. IMO the 70s was the last great pop period for country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

70s country!!! Uber glam!!!! Fabulous :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Otis Fodder:

Right there too with 60s and 70s country. I should go and dig into Hee-Haw, haven't watched it since I was a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Summers in Vancouver were the rodeo. Loved that. Never got to Calgary but BC up country was so much fun. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Cloverdale - that was the name of the place :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

70s country stars were def super glammy. Those crazy Nudie threads!
Avatar 2:25pm Mr Fab:

when a ghastly Kenny Rogers/Kim Carnes song came up on a classic country channel we were listening to, Mrs Fab & I were talking about how utterly shite country became in the '80s. The '90s brought more hard core honky styles back, tho minus the more low-down aspects that made old hillbilly/outlaw country so great.
  2:25pm Layton Sports Cards:

@ Hopey, u must be forgetting Garth Brooks. 90s
Avatar 2:25pm Mr Fab:

HECK YEAH on all those movies, wanna see 'em!
Avatar 2:26pm Martinibomb:

I remember country starting to suck so clearly. By 1985 it was over. I don't listen to much new country? I'm open to it but.. most of the new country I like sounds like old country. hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

All of us wish we could forget Garth Brooks ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Rich in Washington:

I don't even recognize modern country. So bizarre. But then, most popular music these days is just so alien to me. Unfathomable.
  2:27pm Layton Sports Cards:

open your ears guys; lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Rich in Washington:

I know, right? I should give Chris Gaines a chance!
Avatar 2:30pm Mr Fab:

Mrs Fab hipped me to the honky tonk revival of the 90s. i knew Dwight Yoakum (who does wacky stuff like covering Queen, and the Clash?!), but also guys like Randy Travis did some nice stuff. But even that's pretty old by now...
Avatar 2:32pm Martinibomb:

Yup Dwight and Randy totally
Avatar 2:33pm Martinibomb:

I think Dwight made this kind fun western awhile back that I enjoyed
  2:34pm Layton Sports Cards:

ahhh Chris Gaines; youre taking me back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Rich in Washington:

I remember Yoakum being associated with the new, kind of roots country movement of the 80s. Sort of like Jason and the Nashville Scorchers.
  2:34pm Layton Sports Cards:

But more of a Ropin' The Wind guy meself like
  2:37pm djbearrob:

Randy and Dwight were big in the 80s along with other "New Traditionalists" (I saw Dwight on a double bill with Steve Earle back then - great show.) A lot of folk-ish women were on the country charts like Mary Chapin Carpenter and Kathy Mattea. KT Oslin is a really good songwriter. I love that era of country.
  2:37pm Layton Sports Cards:

..and Radney Foster
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You're all making me want pancakes now - I might have to make some tomorrow for my breakfast :-)
Avatar 2:39pm Martinibomb:

It sounds like you need an air tank for your Dj booth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Rich in Washington:

djbearrob: I forgot about the use of that term New Traditionalists! As a lifelong Devo fan, I couldn't help but be amused by that.
  2:39pm Layton Sports Cards:

Octopussys
Avatar 2:39pm Mr Fab:

Mrs Fab wants to see Mary Chapin Carpenter next time she's in town. And yes Yoakum cut his teeth on the LA club scene, playing along side bands like the Blasters (who he later covered)
  2:42pm Layton Sports Cards:

You are currently listening to The Flange & Frigate, with DJ GeorgyGirl
Avatar 2:42pm Mr Fab:

first song i thought of was Syd Barret's "Octopus"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab: YES!! Brilliant! You can see how my brain fries in the airing cupboard ... :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

We are all DEVO.
Avatar 2:50pm Mr Fab:

that "Purple People Eater" was just...ridiculous! I'm not even sure in a good way or not. But i clicky-starred it just in case i liked it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Happy times. Marc Bolan :-)

i once had a regular liaison with a woman called Lavender Lil
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I still kick myself for never going to the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield while Buck Owens was still around.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I thought about pink but decided to stick with the seven colours :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Rich in Washington:

I am going live today! Could be a great spontaneous show or a reenactment of the Hindenberg!
