Almost sounds like Daniel Johnston.

That slightly out of tune upright piano miked kind of roomy adds to the authenticity of thos opening track...

Though for a kid, "a long long time ago" might be 15 minutes.

Macca's 77th bday, btw -- not coincidental in DJ choice, I guess

Am I remembering right that this was in the film version of The Unbearable Lightness of Being?

Actually, the Long and Winding Road is my least-liked Beatles song and I loved that version of it.

@Mick: Yup. Wiki: "The film makes use of music by Leoš Janáček and also Marta Kubišová singing "Hey Jude" in Czech."

@Marie - me too. The Beatles Long and Winding Road is too drippy for me. The Langley Schools version is just right.

@ Tim--yeah :>)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm

@tim,: I wonder if that's more on McCartney, or more on Spector being left with the sessions that he overlaid sweetening on?

I was listening to NPR and I had to shut it off. This is the perfect antidote.

@tim: I mean, McCartney specialized in sappy, for sure. But Spector pushed it further there haha

coelacanth∅: If you know your parents' full names and where they lived as kids, it's 100% possible to work back in online genealogy sites now to the 1800s, and even get the transport/immigration record of the person who came over, and where they came from -- and even the UK censuses for the 1800s are online now. You can work back for whos/wheres/whens to the early/mid 1800s pretty easily now.
