Favoriting June 12, 2019: Hi-Waisted Modernists #028 - No Atheists On Turbulent Airplanes
His slicing off the top of the skull of his egg could be an Andy Warhol epic. "Egg", it would be called. Six hours of a man's hand amputating the top of an egg's head. Slow motion. Because today's Hi-Waisted Modernists with DJ GeorgyGirl has a decided lack of ... ahem ... zips.

Hey all! Fasten your seatbelts and take your Valium now! ;-)
Avatar 3:00pm
Otis Fodder:

Seatbelt secure and coffee in cup holder on dashboard.

Mr Fab:

Woo hoo! My mom had a copy of "Fear of Flying." I may have snuck a peek or two...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey Otis! We;come aboard!
Avatar 3:01pm
worldsworstrecords:

this is awesome!
Avatar 3:01pm
Mr Fab:

i am ALREADY clickiy-starring tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr fab - naughty! ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Naughty to the book not the tracks :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My mother attempted to read this in the early 80s so she could "get feminist" as she put it. Got to the famous zipless bit, threw it at me, and said "This is more your kind of thing. It's disgusting." LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Apologies for the ribald language, all you church-going folks out there ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Also, if any of you can spot the difference between this Umiliani track "Fotomodelle" and Morricone's "Deep Deep Down" from "Danger Diabolik" please enlighten me ;-)
Avatar 3:11pm
Mr Fab:

You're apologising for ribaldry on this channel?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hence the wink at the end ;-)
Avatar 3:11pm
Otis Fodder:

Svezia, inferno e paradiso!! Does sound a lot like Diabolik.
Avatar 3:12pm
Otis Fodder:

Is is Edda on vocals?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm gonna guess it was blanket sessions maybe?
Avatar 3:13pm
Otis Fodder:

Guessing the Alessandroni singing studio cats were the same used.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

We need MB here to comment on all things Diabolik! :-)
Avatar 3:14pm
Mr Fab:

That threw me, i did think that was "deep down" for a sec.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

There you go! :-)
Avatar 3:15pm
Otis Fodder:

I believe the sound is all connected with Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni, that Giulia (Alessandroni's) wife was in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Speaking of Alessandroni ... ;-)
Avatar 3:17pm
Otis Fodder:

meant to write, Giulia... Alessandro's partner. Love tghe Cantori Moderni.. I see them all over Morricone, Nicolai, Piccioni, Umailiani Soundtracks.
Avatar 3:17pm
Mr Fab:

I wish that satirical singer Jong just described was real.
Avatar 3:17pm
worldsworstrecords:

I'm looking through the info on Waylon, but listening while I read... great show GG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'll do some digging because Jong tended to write fact into fiction :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you, Darryl! :-)
Avatar 3:19pm
Otis Fodder:

I wish to god that there was more Waylon. It's one of the best dancey wow-wow things that is not only bad but also so incredibly good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Every time my partner has heard you or Darryl play Waylon, he's said "Sylvester impersonator". lol. Which is why I think a Patrick Cowley remix would have been amazing ;-)
Avatar 3:22pm
Mr Fab:

I know what you mean Otis - horrible singing over genuinly solid grooves = gold. If it was standard professional singing, it would good, but ordinary.
Avatar 3:24pm
worldsworstrecords:

Loving this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

:-)
  3:32pm
Martinibomb:

Hello GG. made it back! This is a cool track
  3:32pm
Martinibomb:

wow you're still talking about Waylon!!! hahah the man has had an impact
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey MB! :-)
  3:33pm
Martinibomb:

I can do a Patrick Cowley impression and try remixing it
Avatar 3:34pm
worldsworstrecords:

I've been chasing up info on him - I'll let you know next week rather than hijack Georgy's show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

PLEASE!!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Please to both in fact. :-)
Tell me info now, Darryl :-)
Avatar 3:38pm
Otis Fodder:

If there was a Patrick Cowley remix of Waylon in say the glorious year of 1982.... could Waylon do a duet with Sylvester?! A guy can dream.
Avatar 3:38pm
worldsworstrecords:

Well, briefly, he's still recording today under the name Andre or Dré Van der Veken, but he began his career in 1971 under the name Andy Free
Avatar 3:39pm
worldsworstrecords:

Better known as a producer, he had a couple of euro hits in the early 80s with a group called Dance Reaction
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

He's still recording?? YES!! :-)
Avatar 3:40pm
worldsworstrecords:

Yes, but pretty 'straight' stuff.
Avatar 3:40pm
Otis Fodder:

And Andre looks nothing like the 7" cover images of Waylon. Still a mystery to me as maybe there was some sort of person hired to studio sing the cut and/or post on the cover.
Avatar 3:41pm
worldsworstrecords:

Here's a song about his cat, Jonny: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Are we sensing a Milli Vanilli here?
  3:42pm
Martinibomb:

he's got a pretty rad cat
Avatar 3:42pm
Otis Fodder:

Possibly. I am just overjoyed to have it in a 7" box here. One of my desert island disc singles for sure.
Avatar 3:42pm
Otis Fodder:

Sorry for hijacking your show with Waylon Georgy... but I KNOW YOU LOVE IT!!!!
Avatar 3:43pm
worldsworstrecords:

If you listen to the Andy Free tracks, Otis, I think you can hear him - even when he's channelling Roy Orbison: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hijack away!! I love info - the more mysterious and obscure the better :-)
Avatar 3:44pm
Otis Fodder:

I think when Waylon leaves the stage and takes off his feather boa and winds down slow sipping campari he puts on Hi-Waisted Modernists and reflects upon life and his next stage persona.
Avatar 3:44pm
worldsworstrecords:

I'll do some more digging... but for now I'm off to eat pizza!
Avatar 3:44pm
worldsworstrecords:

Enjoy the rest of the evening, my lovelies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mmmm - pizza! :-) I'm packaging your record as we speak :-)
Avatar 3:45pm
Otis Fodder:

You may be right there D! Maybe it was a flash-in-the-pan gimmick record/single. So many disco gems like that. God, I love disco! Being in Montreal there is so much disco in the bins as it was such a huge scene here in the late 70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove disco :-)
Avatar 3:46pm
Otis Fodder:

Yes to Pizza. Maybe I will do that tonight tooooooo.
Avatar 3:46pm
worldsworstrecords:

Cheers GG - no rush x
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I think I might have missed a cue - don't be surprised if you see two playlist tracks whizz by. lol
  3:50pm
Martinibomb:

It's funny growing up in Oregon and there was NO disco scene as far as I can tell. Portland a little maybe? I never find good disco in the bins here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm
Rich in Washington:

Portland had Earthquake Ethyls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Nope - this is definitely Castle Orgy. lol. I'm on cue ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh. Ethel's, not Ethyl's. And it was technically in Beaverton.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Beaverton? I'm leaving that there. :-D
  3:54pm
Martinibomb:

What a name. Yeah I've only heard about that place. Did you ever visit Rich?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Earthquake Ethel sounds like an Elkie Brooks type character. Motorcycle Mama with pipes :-)
Avatar 3:55pm
Mr Fab:

I don't remember "Fear of FLying" being all about psychoanalysis. Guess i skipped over those parts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Martinibomb is coming up next with the fabulous Medium Cool :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Rich in Washington:

No. I was but a wee lad when disco was a thing. but it was sort of the punchline to any local yokel joke about disco. I think one of my older siblings may have driven down that far to at least check it out.
Avatar 3:57pm
Otis Fodder:

Thanks Georgy for another breezy hour to work by.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm going to duck out at the end of the show and catch up with Medium Cool, tomorrow. My sinuses are exploding :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you all for listening and enjoying :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Rich in Washington:

This is a great show today, GeorgyGirl! Was stuffing my face with lunch, so away from the keyboard until just recently.
  3:58pm
Martinibomb:

okay cya GG! Yeah I've got sinus/cold/allergy stuff right now can't breath. not sure what's up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh dear. Are you having allergy problems too, GeorgyGirl?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's driving me nuts :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
Rich in Washington:

Me too. It's freaking awful.
Avatar 4:00pm
Mr Fab:
