Hello chresti and james and Prof. Schell and geez! Welcome...
Avatar 3:08pm Sem:

Hello, David, Ruth, the OAR hivemind, and all. Gonna have a 2 hour Turkish massage while listening. Don't mind any of the groans, that'll just be Kudret hitting all the right spots.
Avatar 3:08pm coelacanth∅:

hey David and all
i see you're all geared up for the show
Avatar 3:11pm david w:

Yes, coel we are ratcheting it up. And I think Sem will have a nice soundtrack for today's torture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm steveo:

hello & greetings; my ears are tantalized
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Webhamster Henry:

This is probably good massage music.
Avatar 3:13pm david w:

Tantalized! Thanks, steveo. Maybe that's the next show title.
Avatar 3:14pm david w:

Hi, Henry. We are definitely going to get into the deep tissue.

Stanley! Always with a finger on the button!
Avatar 3:33pm geezerette:

Avatar 3:34pm geezerette:

. Referring to Rigler...
Avatar 3:34pm northguineahills:

Jane Rigler, new to me!
Avatar 3:37pm david w:

Gotcha, geez. Rigler, and everybody on this show, is a kind of sponge. Glad it resonates.
Avatar 3:47pm david w:

@ngh... Rigler keeps a pretty informative site up to date if you are curious.
Avatar 3:51pm northguineahills:

I knew a Che Chen, he ran Isolate Recs, and did IDM, and passed in 2006, so not the same artist.
Avatar 3:56pm northguineahills:

My brain isn't working, it was Wai Cheng, but went as Che.
Avatar 4:01pm david w:

Thanks, ngh. That was scary for 2 seconds. Because I saw Che Chen just a few weeks ago...

Avatar 4:04pm northguineahills:

Quebecois, the only "French" I can evidently speak. (Used to promote Mutek, (electro-acoustic/techno fest) and would go there in Montreal for about 5 years. In Paris, people looked at me sideways at my French at spoke back to me in English.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm listener james from westwood:

This Ostertag has me scrambling in my pockets for quarters!
Avatar 4:09pm geezerette:

Tex Avery goes electro!
Avatar 4:09pm david w:

I have found that if you at least tried to start a conversation in French in France, they'd go happily into English. But if you started out with "Do you speak English?" they'd throw shade or worse.
Avatar 4:10pm david w:

(laughing at/with james and geez)
  4:12pm Michael A Schell:

Checking in with the Europeans, anyone here make it to Holland Festival and the production of Aus LICHT?
Avatar 4:15pm northguineahills:

@james: quarters, most games these days are in dollars. Luckily, the local barcade rip-off only charges quarters for tokens... (they were actually sued over their name by the Philly/Brooklyn Barcade and had to change their name.)
Avatar 4:17pm david w:

What, no Apple-Pay for video games?
Avatar 4:22pm Sem:

Owww, wow.
Avatar 4:24pm david w:

No pain no gain.
Avatar 4:27pm geezerette:

Can't find the way out of this casino!!!
Avatar 4:27pm northguineahills:

Nah, they're going for the nostalgia factor (see Showbiz Pizza_
Avatar 4:27pm geezerette:

The carpets are alive!!!
Avatar 4:28pm david w:

Oh, there's an exit strategy. Hang in there.
Avatar 4:29pm geezerette:

Stuck, staring at people glued to the slots...
Avatar 4:30pm geezerette:

Not sure we're still on earth...
Avatar 4:31pm geezerette:

Wow man, no drugs needed.
Avatar 4:31pm david w:

Remember this started out kinda cute.
Avatar 4:33pm northguineahills:

Avatar 4:38pm geezerette:

Avatar 4:38pm david w:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm chresti:

This is one violent pinball machine
Avatar 4:44pm geezerette:

ouch! Damn Pachinko ball!
Avatar 4:45pm geezerette:

Chresti, bats!
Avatar 4:46pm david w:

And all for 2 bits (or is it 8 bits?)
Avatar 4:46pm coelacanth∅:

coincidentally (though these "coincidences" are the norm) i saw a band on sunday that usually plays "speed metal" and similar (named "roargh", or "RRRRRÖÖÖÖÖÄÄÄÄÄRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!", after the album by voivod,"Rrröööaaarrr")
that played their whole set as video game music, wwe music and other mind-numbing soundtrack music
Avatar 4:47pm northguineahills:

@geeze: I used to stand outside pachinko parlors in Japan, and watch and listen (it's entrancing), and that's when I was kid and not into music. (I was too young to go in).
Avatar 4:48pm geezerette:

Sounds like fun!

David, definitely a bargain.
Avatar 4:48pm david w:

Everybody's personal histories are tumbling out. Interesting how that works.
Avatar 4:50pm geezerette:

NGH, I love the sound of Pachinko too. Might be an album somewhere that features it.
Avatar 4:52pm geezerette:

That was absolutely incredible!!!
Avatar 4:53pm geezerette:

Oh no! Time to go! Thanks David, Ruth, buddies!
Avatar 4:54pm david w:

Go dig into Ostertag. Deep on many levels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm chresti:

Avatar 4:54pm northguineahills:

This is a classic!
Avatar 4:55pm david w:

Avatar 4:56pm Sem:
