Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

This part of the sndrk has been sampled many times, and by many Liquid Sky Recs artists (like, Dj SoulSlinger.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Stanley:

Lay it on me, man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Webhamster Henry:

Yes, shout out a hi to Brenda!
Avatar 3:06pm northguineahills:

(Liquid Sky Recs was most a dancefloor friend record label that supported D&B and illbient acts. They also so spun off Jungle Sky Recs. One of my best friends was on said label).
Avatar 3:07pm northguineahills:

Rafael Toral, nice guy! I actually know Manuel Mota.
Avatar 3:08pm david w:

OK gang. Hello Sem! and help is on its way, Stanley. ngh always makes me wiser... as does WebHen!
Avatar 3:09pm coelacanth∅:

greetings David; ridgies
  3:09pm chresti:

Hi ridgewood! Spotty internet on my way home
Avatar 3:11pm david w:

coel and chresti, welcome... we've got big thunderstorms coming that sometimes give the Internet hiccups here.
Avatar 3:15pm northguineahills:

whoops, I've met Manual Mota. a Portuguese gf of a an artist friend of mine introduced us (I'm getting confused in my dotage).
Avatar 3:18pm david w:

@ngh: I must have met Toral along the way somewhere, so many collaborators in the bio are colleagues. But I just can't... remember...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Webhamster Henry:

I trust you all had a nice International Drone Day last Saturday.
I made my apps Srutibox and Droneo free for the weekend. People like apps when they are free!
Avatar 3:24pm david w:

I'm secretly conspiring to add a Brooklyn venue for the next drone day. Shhhhhh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Ike:

This is good.
Avatar 3:33pm coelacanth∅:

every day is drone day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Stanley:

I very much enjoyed that drone business, just played.
Avatar 3:35pm david w:

Hello, Ike, good is you.
Avatar 3:36pm david w:

Thanks, Stanley. I think it was in the air this week (shout out to coel and Henry).
Avatar 3:40pm coelacanth∅:

i was in the kitchen and i heard whales!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm chresti:

Hello, home
Avatar 3:42pm david w:

@coel, if you are not near the ocean beware whalenado!
Avatar 3:44pm coelacanth∅:

"there's a whale of a tornado headin' your way!"
...(not too close to the ocean)
Avatar 3:45pm coelacanth∅:

...now i just wonder if i can make recordings of whales sound like saxophone and trumpet...?
Avatar 3:48pm david w:

I wonder if anybody ever autotuned a whale song?
Avatar 3:50pm northguineahills:

@coel: No, that was just spoken Welsh....
Avatar 3:53pm coelacanth∅:

("welsh" being the local dialect pronunciation of "whalish", of course)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Webhamster Henry:

A siren just passed my window, it fit in well!
Avatar 3:57pm david w:

I'm still doing duets with a damn fly in the studio.
Avatar 3:59pm coelacanth∅:

not too many things gross me out. flies do.
Avatar 4:15pm northguineahills:

I met Raz the first week I moved to NYC. I made the faux pas of making constructive criticism of a tzadik work he was working on, and asking about his heritage (I was from the South, there's not much diversity). I did become friends w/ his accomplish sound artist, wife, Marina Rosenfeld.
Avatar 4:17pm david w:

Ah, ngh, you stepped in it. Well, there's a power couple!
Avatar 4:18pm northguineahills:

Raz also put out a few 12"s on Liquid /Jungle Sky Recs w/ John Ward as Sub Dub, so, the set comes full circle...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm Webhamster Henry:

Can we get that fly on the air during the back announce break?
Avatar 4:21pm david w:

Sub Dub, Badawi, illbient... all associated or birthed by Messinai.
Avatar 4:22pm david w:

oops, Mesinai. One S. Now I stepped in it.
Avatar 4:23pm coelacanth∅:

it's everywhere!
Avatar 4:24pm david w:

@Henry, the thing is LOUD! and I thought it might come across the mic specially when it comes at my head. Ugh.
Avatar 4:25pm northguineahills:

To this date, Dj Olive is one of my mates. I went to see him my first week in NYC, and he was out of town, so, there was a fill in. The next week I met him, and he introduced me to pretty much everyone. (he's in the mountains of British Columbia right now producing music and looking after his daughter).
Avatar 4:27pm Sem:

Otherworldly. Where can I buy a ticket?
Avatar 4:27pm david w:

For the record, Olive is widely credited with coining the term illbient.
Avatar 4:31pm david w:

@Sem. Mesinai helped me whip this (old-ish) track into radio-worthiness and sent me links to newer stuff like this, called Death Watch: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 4:33pm david w:

Oh this damn fly is distracting. The piece is called Death Notes, not Watch, oy.
Avatar 4:34pm northguineahills:

Olive gifted me a cdr of his recording w/ Luc Ferrari at the Kitchen. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce it and it only plays in my car.
Avatar 4:35pm northguineahills:

ha, david!
Avatar 4:35pm david w:

If you park your car outside my studio maybe we can run a cable and play it here.
Avatar 4:37pm Sem:

Much obliged, David!
Avatar 4:46pm david w:

I'm infected! Now I've got a fruit fly and a baby moth.
Avatar 4:51pm northguineahills:

I never heard that Raz! Thanks!
Avatar 4:52pm Sem:

All new to me, for which I am grateful. Next time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Stanley:

I found that last piece a bit too much for me. But it didn't do me any harm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Stanley:

That said.... here comes Yoko!!
Avatar 4:53pm coelacanth∅:

(@4.46 at least it's not a brute fly and a flabby moth)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Webhamster Henry:

hahahaha! FLY!
Avatar 4:53pm david w:

No harm. no foul!
Avatar 4:54pm Sem:

Haha, Stanley. Your nemesis.
Avatar 4:55pm david w:

Thanks, everybody! The fly has left the building.
Avatar 4:55pm northguineahills:

Yoko! apropos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Stanley:

True dat Sem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm chresti:

Thanks David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Stanley:
