Listener comments!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Otis Fodder:

Hi. Bit of a show on the mellow side today, I think. Rainy here in Montreal, overcast. The show's title does not reflect my mood, sunny here. It's from a Steve Kuhn song that I will play today. Thanks for listening. Happy weekend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Looking forward to it! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'll be running to and from the kitchen at the beginning just to microwave some dinner for myself :-)
Avatar 3:00pm grantbob:

hi Otis...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm chresti:

Hello Otis! Empty colors!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Webhamster Henry:

The Mellow side of Persuasion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Otis, I always like your mellow shows!
Avatar 3:04pm Mr Fab:

Yo ho Otis! It is bee-YOO-tiful in LA, so the mellow show works well here too - just loungin in the sunshine.
  3:05pm Martinibomb:

Hello everyone. Well it was nice in Portland the last few days but now overcast/slightly rainy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Always love some John Foxx :-)
  3:06pm Martinibomb:

I can't stop geeking with musicbee and aimp can't decide which one I like the best
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Rich in Washington:

This is lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's been weird here in the UK. South Coast anyway. We've had sun, heat, rain, cold, torrential downpour, sea mist, wind. I'd quite like it if the universe picked a season and stuck with it for a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Otis Fodder:

John Foxx - Great vox - His early solo stuff and Ultravox too, oh yes.
Avatar 3:07pm Mr Fab:

keep thinking he's gonna sing 'Heart Full of Soul"
  3:07pm Martinibomb:

oohh I didn't know he did this with Belbury circle holy cow! love john foxx love belbury circle win win
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Howdy, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey GST! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Otis Fodder:

@MB - Love AIMP for my music library playing. Winamp for single or disc plays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

LOL! It's actually just after 8 pm here so it's a lot creepier for me than it is for you guys ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Granny! How's things?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Rich in Washington:

This is wonderful rainy day music. It's just noon here.
  3:17pm Blake SHelton:

Hey mammy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is really REALLY Good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Otis Fodder:

The recent Radiophonic Workshop material is really a fantastic listen to kick back on the couch and look at the celing by.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Otis Fodder:

...and hello all! Juggling typing words in the playlist and looking up playlist images.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Hey DJGG, Howdy RIW. For the first time ever, I'm out in the city (sf) with my earbuds and portable gadget listening toWFMU. Not usually an earbuds kinda person...but so far so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Otis Fodder:

GST - I seldom get out with earbuds, but from time to time do in city (Montreal), mostly when on the bus/metro. Hope the soundtrack today puts a glide in your stride.
  3:25pm Blake SHelton:

howbout dem Warriorz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm chresti:

This is great! GST-I use the auxillary port to plug my phone into, when I'm driving-
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

  3:26pm Blake SHelton:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Otis Fodder:

Ahhh, I miss Valencia, need to get back to the bay for a visit again.
  3:27pm Martinibomb:

I haven't tried the image thing I assume you click a button/select/upload etc.. is it much of a pain?
  3:28pm Martinibomb:

@otis I'm curious what made you move from musicbee and stay with aimp?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Otis Fodder:

@MB - Upload image elsewhere and in click 'add' next to image and paste in url.
  3:30pm Martinibomb:

I've been wanting to use my programming skills more. I feel like I could improve that. I wonder if I can volunteer to help Kenzo out? is he the one that's in charge of it all?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Otis Fodder:

@MB - Speed overall, I found AIMP to handle a large database very well.
Avatar 3:33pm Mr Fab:

that'd be great MB. Yes, i'd give Kenzo a holler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I was in the kitchen and this Steve Kuhn track sounded like Kevin Ayers. So now I have a new person to get into :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

DJ GG fascinating observation! Hmmmm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Otis Fodder:

Now I hear the connection Georgy, they so do go well together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This Death Wish track is gorgeous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm eating a bowl of leftover homemade chilli, relaxing in my chair, gazing out of the window next to my desk, and just totally digging this music. Fabulous. :-)
  3:43pm Blake SHelton:

I'm eating a packet of Jammie Dodgers, halfprice at Sainsburys. It's Sainsburys 150th borthday today. Can u play a tribute for that Otis ?
  3:44pm Martinibomb:

I'd like to hear about your Chili recipe?! Is British chili different from Texas?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I can't remember the last time I had a Jammie Dodger
  3:45pm Martinibomb:

I'm making some handmade pasta for lunch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Otis Fodder:

Yes Blake, this song could fit. New Advert: "Take a Tropical Fantasy without leaving your local Sainsburys".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

And I just enjoyed a huge California style salad with all kinds of weird things like arugula and shaved fennel
  3:46pm Blake SHelton:

does one need to say MAKING and HOMEMADE in the same sentence?
Avatar 3:46pm OliverrrLewisss:

Whaaaa ?! .. The mysterious N Senada worked with someone other than the residents ?! .. (is that him whistling??) and with Der Plan no less , who are quite comparable to those lovely eyeballs. Love those first few Der Plan albums ! And their crazy costumes !
  3:46pm Blake SHelton:

  3:46pm Martinibomb:

Making from scratch? Maybe that's a better way to phrase it?
  3:47pm Blake SHelton:

thankyou for that OTIS, son.
  3:47pm Martinibomb:

hmm it does seem odd to say making handmade
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Otis Fodder:

@Oliver, yes... from a comp of per-Der Plan material.
  3:48pm Martinibomb:

I love how winamp handles the radio streams putting the album artwork up and the artist/album etc..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

I'm at home, handmaking homemade homestyle handwiches
  3:48pm Blake SHelton:

Im making myself a new back-scratcher from scratch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Let's see ... roasted cubed butternut squash and sweet potato in oil and smoked salt for about 35 minutes. Then cooked a chopped large onion in olive oil until it was soft, added cinnamon, chili, smoked paprika, and cumin until it got fragrant. Black beans (cooked and drained), passata, tomato puree, the roasted veg, some veg stock, lime juice, some more smoked salt to taste. About 30 minutes on the stove. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Otis Fodder:

@Blake - HAAAAAA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

BLake SHelton, gimme a hand, will ya?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

BLake SHelton, gimme a hand, will ya?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Otis - this is why I'm gorging myself now! ;-) As soon as my show finished and your show started I was off into the kitchen for sustenance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Two hands??? My back is very itchy!
  3:52pm Blake SHelton:

  4:27pm Martinibomb:

@Otis did you ever hear them growing up? @Granny totally agree!! hahah I think they are great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Otis Fodder:

No, did not hear about Poppy Family until the late 90s on a CD comp. After that I fell in and picked up the 2 LPs and assorted singles with b-sides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

I grew up on the US side of the BC border and all I ever heard was Seasons in the Sun. phooey

  4:32pm Martinibomb:

this Cavern Of Anti-Matter track is really fun!
Avatar 4:33pm Mr Fab:

it's like: hello Neu! we salute you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

I thought No Blood in Bone was an 80s song I had somehow missed, that was my first Poppy Family song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Otis Fodder:

That's right, I had heard Seasons in the Sun played to death on my little AM radio in the SF bay... I think it was KFRC, memory escapes me. There was an AM station I used to listen to riding my bike to pick up Mad magazines in 1978.

I wonder if Lee Marvin beat up the microphone during this session.

Fonix, good idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Otis Fodder:

MB - It will soon be... baaaaaa haaaaaa haaaaa
Avatar 5:12pm Don-O:

Is this Corpusse the artist or title? I'm guessing I didn't get the chance to hear it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Otis Fodder:

Corpusse is the artist. Hot Water Pipe, the masterpiece.
Avatar 5:13pm geezerette:

Chresti! :)
Avatar 5:13pm Don-O:

I noticed you did play some Julie London. Coolness!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Rich in Washington:

Don-O: Monty Python's my go-to when I have insomnia. Something about it short-circuits my logical brain and lets me drift off to sleep.
Avatar 5:14pm geezerette:

Fake song! Lock it up!
Avatar 5:14pm Don-O:

I'll listen to the show later, or I'll check the 'net on this one.
  5:16pm Martinibomb:

I have all the monty python scripts. It's really interesting reading their stuff and seeing how it's put together
Avatar 5:16pm Don-O:

I have a attachment for the episode 'Owl Stretching Time' as it is my first Python show I 'captured' on my old battered Sears boom-box tape recorder.
Avatar 5:17pm geezerette:

Rich IW, howdy! The"Hard Talk" segment on BBC News is just like Python.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Rich in Washington:

Oh man. I'm glad I'm not the only one who'd record Monty Python on audio tape. Press the Panasonic recorder right up to the TV's speaker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Rich in Washington:

Hi geezerette! How's things?
Avatar 5:19pm geezerette:

Deep love for Pythons. Are these kazoos?
Avatar 5:20pm Mr Fab:

ha, I audio taped Holy Grail off PBS. They left in the bad words.
Avatar 5:20pm geezerette:

Superb,Rich, and you?
Avatar 5:22pm Don-O:

Oh, Pat Bone! How MOD!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Rich in Washington:

Good! My weekend starts today. Blissful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Rich in Washington:

finally got all the materials to complete my studio room speaker rewire project. I will finally be able to separate my mixer's monitor buss from the speaker system that I just listen to music and TV with. Big move, but untangling the Rube Goldberg setup I have.
Avatar 5:23pm Don-O:

I wonder which Python episode has the most of Carol Cleveland in it?
Avatar 5:24pm Mr Fab:

This is hilarious! About as threatening as those ballet-dancing gang-bangers in West Side Story
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Otis Fodder:

...and the film is even less threatening. So good.
Avatar 5:25pm geezerette:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Rich in Washington:

Cross and the Switchblade was written by David Wilkerson, who put out a crazy rapture record - sort of like a Xtian production of Mercury Theatre's War of the Worlds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Rich in Washington:

It says it's the soundtrack to a film, but I can find no evidence of the film being released, just the record - The Rapture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Otis Fodder:

@Rich - The album comes with a lyric sheet and form to purchase scripts for your local school play/production. Years ago I wanted to stage this with friends (along with the other Carmichael album, Natural High).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Rich in Washington:

Ralph Carmichael also release - to my knowledge - the only gospel Moog album. Am I wrong? I sort of hope I am.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Otis Fodder:

It's a film, rented it a good decade+ back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Otis Fodder:

Trailer for Cross and Switchblade - www.youtube.com...
Avatar 5:28pm geezerette:

It's odd to name such a violent fantasy "Rapture".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Rich in Washington:

The Rapture? Really?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Otis Fodder:

Ralph's 'The Electic Symphony' is the only 100% moog religious album I have seen... close second might be Caldera's Moog Mass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Otis Fodder:

Rich - Oh now I see you were talking about Rapture the film (don't know anything about that one), I thought it was referring to Cross and Switchblade. Will check out Rapture.
Avatar 5:34pm Mr Fab:

Gershon Kingley's "God is a Moog". But that' coming from a Jewish background.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Otis Fodder:

That's right, Gershon did recordings. Need to check those out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Rich in Washington:

That's cool, Mr. Fab and Otis! I hadn't heard of either of those albums! Just goes to show how deep the Moog rabbit hole goes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Rich in Washington:

The Rapture LP I have does indeed have what looks like stills from a film production on it, and mention of the movie, but I can't find any evidence of it actually coming out. Maybe it just never got released?
Avatar 5:39pm geezerette:

Thanks, Otis!
Fellow travelers!
Happy holiday weekend to all.
Avatar 5:40pm Mr Fab:

thanks geezerette, I'm actually home . Vacay started to-day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm chresti:

Bye geez!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Otis Fodder:

Cheers geez, happy weekend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Rich in Washington:

There exists also a really goofy early production in the stupid Left Behind series - this one being a fake news show reporting on people vanishing. I remember a fundy relative foisted it on my parents and I grabbed it. It was horrible. Inexplicably, it was briefly streamed on Netflix, early on but was quickly 'raptured' away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm chresti:

Secret agent man sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Rich in Washington:

Digging the soundtrack vibe to today's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm chresti:

Thanks Otis, ALWAYS a treat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Otis Fodder:

Big smiles chresti and rich!
Avatar 5:44pm Don-O:

Les Baxter?! Well, he went everywhere with genres
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Otis Fodder:

70's Baxter, right up there with Yma Sumac's Miracles album on his rock side.
Avatar 5:45pm Don-O:

...oh, and the rest of the 70's soundtrack set is pretty cool!
Avatar 5:46pm Mr Fab:

He did indeed, Don-O. More than exotica.i recently picked up a CD comp of various soundtrack themes. You know he did the incidental music to the Frankie n Annette beach party movies?
Avatar 5:48pm Don-O:

I should look at each of these movies and reference them to this 70's movie blog: every70smovie.blogspot.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Rich in Washington:

Les' soundtrack to X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes is a fave.
