  9:43pm JakeGould:

Nate! This JD cover. YES!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm TheNewLexGofer:

Ian Curtis rules.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm TheNewLexGofer:

Or, should I say, ruled...
Avatar 9:55pm Kelly Jones:

Why does depressing music make me so happy?
  9:56pm Dropof Goldensun:

Great song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm TheNewLexGofer:

Unknown Pleasures. Top Five album, all time.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm ultradamno:

Speaking of Pere Ubu, Ubu Dub podcast has an episode interviewing David Thomas and talking about the new album which sounds promising.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm TheNewLexGofer:

This interview is fantastic. I WILL BUY THIS BOOK!
  10:07pm JakeGould:

Didn’t Martin Hannett slow down Joy Division tracks on purpose to make them more dirge-like and dark?
  10:10pm ledzeppelinsucks:

Jello Biafra讨厌Martin Hannett
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

Howdy everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm TheNewLexGofer:

Bonsoir, Phillippe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm ultradamno:

Well, if you listen even to what's on Short Circuit (never mind as Warsaw) they were a much punkier band at first.
  10:17pm ledzeppelinsucks:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Nate K.:

More Joy Division coming up, and @Jake will adress that very question.
  10:21pm JIMD2019JIMD:

This interview rules. Thankyou
Avatar 10:21pm Lost Cause:

I wonder how accurate the movie, "Control' was
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm ultradamno:

I remember in the eighties someone I knew recommended Culturcide to me with the note "the singer committed suicide which makes them interesting", not ironically. I don't think either. It's an odd thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm ultradamno:

And it only works that way if it's the singer too, isn't it? If your bassist does it, probably not so morbidly romantic or whatever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm TheNewLexGofer:

God bless you, Ian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Phillippe Bastille:

Nice interview. I remember when all this went down.
  10:32pm JakeGould:

Thanks Nate! The funny thing is the Velvet Underground seemed to have a similar path: If it weren’t for Andy Warhol shaping them, they would have just been a basic rock band.
Avatar 10:35pm slugluv1313:

thank-you so much for this interview (and thank goodness for the archives! so i can listen when there is not so much disruptive noise going on here!)
looking forward to "This Searing Light, the Sun, and Everything Else"
was totally heartbroken and horrified when Ian Curtis committed suicide; so many of us were anxiously awaiting Joy Division here in the States
Avatar 10:37pm slugluv1313:

ahhh Warsaw!
thank-you, Nate!
glad i held on to "Live at the Electric Circus" -- amazing record
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm TheNewLexGofer:

Disorder. Killer.

  10:40pm Daybreak, and...wandering thoughts:

Late night (for me) trip to town hall in Boonton to drop off summer camp payment for the kids. Didn’t want to forget tomorrow as my lady and I have Andrew Bird tickets out at the Deer Head inn tomorrow night!
Thanks for the sweet jams to get me safely there, where I type this, and back again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Tome:

back then hearing this stuff ,, and then a little latter on first discovering this great station ,, I was "yes there is a God !<>!

dead souls is arguably the greatest song of all time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm TheNewLexGofer:

Now that I've hit the link, yeah...
Avatar 10:57pm Lost Cause:

this is such a hard track to find..the blog is wiped clean like a Pentagon accounting computer
  10:59pm JakeGould:

Well ain’t that a revelation! Thanks Nate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Nate K.:

@Jake, all Dan's doing!
  11:08pm JIMD2019JIMD:

loving this rare section! Cheers
Avatar 11:12pm slugluv1313:

DAMN loving "Chance" amazing!!!
  11:17pm steveL:

When was post-punk recognized as a thing? Possible rhetorical question.
  11:18pm steveL:

The “No Nee York squronk thing” was punk, in the hinterlands.
  11:22pm Xyrus Blaze:

I put on WFMU while I was hosting a dinner party tonight and was stoked cos it was joy division and New Order, two bands that I was raised on and hold tight to my heart (despite not owning an unknown pleasures shirt). Kinda been listening in and out, but will forsure listen to this episode tomorrow and be back next week for more! \m/ 'u' \m/
Avatar 11:26pm Lost Cause:

Durruti Column wrote a song about Ian Curtis as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm TheNewLexGofer:

Nice call, Lost Cause.
  11:31pm old ERIC thee hat:

Hadn’t heard Josef K in way too long.
Avatar 11:32pm Lost Cause:

I"m prescient like that ;o) I've never heard this version, just Vinni's version. This almost sounds more like Genesis P'Orridge
  11:35pm old ERIC thee hat:

Seriously, Lost Cause...you made that comment before the song even started?
Avatar 11:35pm Lost Cause:

Yeah, I haz crystal ball.
  11:36pm old ERIC thee hat:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Nice work tonight, Nate.
Avatar 11:44pm Lost Cause:

Now you play 'psychic' tv after I mention psychic AND genesis..WTH. It's like a remote viewing set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm TheNewLexGofer:

I'll be into the archives tomorrow to hear the hour I missed. Thank you, Nate K., and to all a good night.
  11:52pm old ERIC thee hat:

Dang I want this show to keep going.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm ultradamno:

I would have liked to hear them successfully cover this in the traditional Joy Division style.
Avatar 12:04am slugluv1313:
