Avatar 12:39pm Martinibomb:

I think I'm sick of pop art because it's always of *stuff* a lot of art is of things. Like SHAG paintings are of this high life 50s americana. I think I'm sick of all that stuff.. just want to look at paint and not worry about what it is. hah
Avatar 12:40pm Martinibomb:

I've never been a big fan of sweet potatoes but I recently discovered I love it as soup
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm making coffee for the show so dashing back and forth between the laptop and the kitchen :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Jan Turkenburg:

These are no sweet potatoes, just regular Rita Pavone brand :-)
Avatar 12:42pm Martinibomb:

youtu.be...
Avatar 12:42pm Martinibomb:

I wish she'd done a whole album of potato songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Jan Turkenburg:

Maybe WE should do that for her!
Avatar 12:49pm Martinibomb:

Let's make "The Potato Album" it'll be all Potato covers of the white album. hahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Jan Turkenburg:

LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Got my coffee. Got my socks. Everyone ready for tonight's show? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Jan Turkenburg:

I'm VERY curious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Rich in Washington:

Glad to see that the skippiness which has been afflicting the Drummer stream all morning seems not to be happening here today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That'll wake you all up ;-)
Avatar 1:02pm Mr Fab:

Hi-dee-ho, Flangers n Flangettes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey Mr Fab! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I don't have any time this week to back announce - so I'll do some extra info in here :-)
Avatar 1:04pm Mr Fab:

yes Rich, been listening to Sheena stream all morn, and tho the content certainly has all sorts of issues, the technical side seems solid enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Rich in Washington:

Well, it should. The content creators sure had issues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

God, I love doing this show :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Jan Turkenburg:

Great start Georgy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Rich in Washington:

WAITRESS! This coffee tastes like MUD!
Waitress: It SHOULD, buddy! It was just GROUND THIS MORNING!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Rich in Washington:

I love you doing this show, DJ GeorgyGirl!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Jan Turkenburg:

Waitress this veggy burger is partially BLACK! Who the hell prepared this?! (woops)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Some jazzy, proggy goodness from Spooky Tooth :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I did consider taking out a section so I had more talk time ... and then I thought ... Pfffft!!!! Let's play the music! ;-)
Avatar 1:13pm Martinibomb:

Sometimes I don't feel like talking just wanna play music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mr. Jeffrey of Lynne here with The Idle Race. Don't know what happened to Jeff Lynne. Think he joined another band maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Otis Fodder:

One of my fav Idle Race gems.

I made a note today on the mic that I was not going to talk much and play more music. Like minds all around!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I propose we then play one record each next week and talk ALL of the rest of the time ;-)
Avatar 1:15pm Mr Fab:

Less Talk, More Schlock!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Otis Fodder:

Or just one song slowed down to fit the entire show and no talk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Jan Turkenburg:

lol! don't worry about the lack of talking. On FDL it will be no different: sometimes I will have lots to tell you and sometimes there will be nothing but music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove this Sabbath track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Rich in Washington:

Me too! It's so funky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yes!!! Like that trend of playing Jolene at like -800% speed a few years back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

And on today's show - Bitches Brew slowed down by 800%. Enjoy. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Jan Turkenburg:

I'm considering filling two hours with Space Oddity covers only. Who's in?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Count me in!
Avatar 1:19pm Martinibomb:

This Papaya Punch I got is kickin in perfect on this track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

And, of course, I HAD to have some Telly ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Jan Turkenburg:

I also have hours of strange verisons of für Elise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, Cozy!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Jan Turkenburg:

Boney M stole this in Night Flight to Venus, with no credits....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I can't think why I had so little time to talk this week ... HA! :-)
Avatar 1:21pm Martinibomb:

@Jan here's a cool surf version of für Elise by Galaxy trio youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Jan Turkenburg:

There's something about Venus and not giving credits :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter just thought this was Boney M's "Rasputin" and now we've all just realised how much ripping off Boney M did!
Avatar 1:22pm Martinibomb:

Cool i love that raputin track have to put this into a mix with it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Otis Fodder:

I love this Cozy Powell cut. The B Side used to be a fav to play out with years back when I used to DJ out "And Then There Was Skin"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Jan Turkenburg:

Phoney M, .... Yes they ripped of the four perfromers even... They hardly got any money out of it. Frank Farian took it all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I was 50/50 on Skin vs Devil ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Otis Fodder:

Both so good. That single is a gem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The Midlands is basically the stripe across the centre of the UK that has major cities like Birmingham and Wolverhampton in it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks for the Galaxy Trio MB, I'm not sure if I have that one already. I don't think so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It was also one of the major centres of the Industrial Revolution with TONS of factories and foundries ... and it's the clanging of the metals in the factories that led to the harder rock music at the end of the 60s that we now all know and love :-) That there heavy metal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

People like Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne were factory boys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Episode Six = Ian Gillan's first toe dip into the waters of pop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Jan Turkenburg:

I didn't know Episode Six yet. This is fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Otis Fodder:

This is great. Going to dig in/look up Episode Six now. Thx!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Otis Fodder:

Wow, loads of singles by Episode Six - www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm having a great time here :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Otis Fodder:

Telly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Jan Turkenburg:

(switching on slsk ... now! :-) )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Otis Fodder:

I was thinking the same thing Jan. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The Gods - Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones), Brian and John Glascock (Jethro Tull), and Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep). Plus Greg lake later on for a year. :-)
Avatar 1:36pm Mr Fab:

Anyone else got a pic of Michael Jackson on their player on that last song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, a Steve Winwood special!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Consider it done then :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Jan Turkenburg:

The cello's on Time Seller are very similar to some at ELO 1 Who was first, I've always wondered...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Jan Turkenburg:

yes, especially that ending!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Spencer Davis, I think - they were all pretty much coming form a "sound like The Beatles" standpoint, to be fair ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

A lot of reggae and sound systems etc coming out of the Midlands as well, following the Windrush era of immigration to the UK of West Indians, Jamaicans etc A lot of people went to the Midlands because there was as lot of work in the factories. The Campbell brothers from UB40 are from the Midlands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Jan Turkenburg:

aha, of course. I once saw a documentary on Roy Wood, stating that Roy Wood was the first to use the cello as a rock-instrument. I doubt that. I think he further evolved an idea that was already there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I think The Beatles got more orchestras on pop songs in weird ways - and then subsequent bands had a go at playing the instruments themselves :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Webhamster Henry:

I'm trying to figure out why Telly Savalas is in the UK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

He did three Quota Quickie travelogues in the 70s :-)
Avatar 1:47pm Martinibomb:

@Jan that sampler I got off ebay on weds showed up yesterday! super fast. Thing is in perfect condition the clear plastic screen protector was even on it. only a little rack rash.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Rich in Washington:

Alice was such a bizarre show. I remember watching it as a kid on Friday nights. Just something to watch in those pre-VCR, pre-cable, pre-everything days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Webhamster Henry:

Thanks GG! And I was just messaging about this Traffic album with DJ People Like Us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar 2:11pm recordrouletteclub:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Webhamster Henry:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Webhamster Henry:

Telly should be reanimated to do back announcing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I would seriously pay for that!!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Webhamster Henry:

"Stavros! Get me a list of everything she played in the last set!"

-- Kojak was always telling Stavros to compile impossible lists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

First person to spot the other Moody Blues connection in this set gets a "hurrah!" from me :-)
Avatar 2:41pm Mr Fab:

I always like to point out that "Hey Joe" was first a hit for The Leaves, a band from my LA neighborhood of Northridge. When i was attending Cal State Northridge, i tried to start a campaign to get "Hey Joe" adopted as the school alma mater. Couldn't get the school behind it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That's a bit shitty from your school!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Jan Turkenburg:

Mr Fab now it was my turn to laugh out loud!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Jan Turkenburg:
