Mary! Bellisima!

Ring that bell. Hello and good afternoon to the 100%, and all.
  12:09pm John from Florham Park:

Hello fellow whatever listeners
Avatar 12:09pm βrian:

@steveo: Let me guess: You've always loved to play with blocks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Carmichael:

That's quite a hello, steveo. Did you win the word lottery?
Avatar 12:10pm Mary Wing:

Hello radio pals! Having the usual technical difficulties here; is the audio coming through loud and clear?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm crateslinger:

audio sounds good here
Avatar 12:11pm βrian:

Well, clear anyway ...
  12:11pm John from Florham Park:

@MW very loud and clear
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Parq:

I'm hearing it fine, too.
Avatar 12:13pm Mary Wing:

Not loud, Brian? Lemme see if I can boost it up.
Avatar 12:23pm βrian:

Very meta, this.
Avatar 12:24pm βrian:

Did he just say "ho-what?"
Avatar 12:25pm Roberto:

I remember this album was a favorite of SM Ken's. Junior Dad in particular.
Avatar 12:30pm Mary Wing:

Yes, I think Ken sang Junior Dad at one of the Marathon Finale shows.
Avatar 12:30pm Mary Wing:

Or maybe not, it's not listed on a playlist search, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm steveo:

i apologize, but i found it here wfmu.org...
Avatar 12:34pm Mary Wing:

Ah, I was searching for Lou Reed, not the song, doh!
Avatar 12:38pm Mary Wing:

Bah, I remember that finale because Ken dressed up as Cher to sing "If I Could Turn Back Time" -- which was hysterical.
Avatar 12:40pm Roberto:

Thanks Mary, that's probably worth another listen!
Avatar 12:43pm david w:

Ma(r)y Day! Hello all!
Avatar 12:45pm Mary Wing:

Rabbit rabbit, David!
Avatar 12:51pm βrian:

Typo there? Allégrement
Avatar 12:52pm βrian:

Ah, maybe not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm coelacanth∅:

it's pronounced like "pfffff"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm coelacanth∅:

...hi Mary & all
(i was going back n forth to the duane train but your mic breaks are more entertaining, so here i come to rest)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Mary!
Hi everyone!
Avatar 1:10pm Mary Wing:

Hi coela and Rich!
Are they? I think I sound like a dolt, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Rich in Washington:

I have a big bandage on my left ring finger due to a cooking mishap last night and it's amazing how hard it is to find the keys without its sense of touch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Parq:

Rich, been there.
Avatar 1:11pm Mary Wing:

Not if you only type with 2 fingers, though, hee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Rich in Washington:

I'm up to three now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm coelacanth∅:

Mary haha then maybe we have some common ancestry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm coelacanth∅:

i use a scissor in the kitchen (a good, dollar store one, not one of those useless "kitchen scissors") at least as much as i use knives, and i actually cut the tip of my right index finger off a few months ago, when i was particularly out of it one morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Rich in Washington:

OW, coelacanth∅! That's awful!
Avatar 1:20pm Mary Wing:

Eeeek, completely off or just open?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm coelacanth∅:

it was just the tip -a tiny bit; but man what a hindrance! (yes completely off. i was shocked!)
Avatar 1:22pm βrian:

I find slicing shiitakes to be the most risky activity in the kitchen. They cleave so satisfyingly that one grows too exuberant .. then "ouch!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Rich in Washington:

I once did a number on one of my fingers with scissors. Towards the end of my smoking, I had this habit of taking half the filter off those American Spirit cigarettes with a pair of scissors. Once in my haste, when the filter snapped, it cut a large chunk off my middle finger. It took a really long time to heal and really probably should've been stitched.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Rich in Washington:

@βrian:That's sort of what happened to me last night, but with carrots.
My wife thinks I should get one of those slap choppy things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Rich in Washington:

This is my favorite Siouxsie album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm coelacanth∅:

i use a scissor for shiitake. i do most of my kitchen cutting (which is a lot, as a mostly vegetarian who loves to cook) in my hand, in the air.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm coelacanth∅:

jeez Rich that's scary! (or..."scarry"?)
Avatar 1:26pm βrian:

A teacher once told me, "Don't make a thousand cuts. Make one cut a thousand times."

That does increase the margin of safety.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm coelacanth∅:

alternate version of black juju?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm coelacanth∅:

(oh it's not AC)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Rich in Washington:

This set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm coelacanth∅:

yeah great set!
totally picturing knife dancers around a fire
Avatar 1:31pm Mary Wing:

Not really Halloween-ish, but hey it's only 6 months away!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Michael 98145:

Lydia, oh Lydia -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Rich in Washington:

black... JUJU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm coelacanth∅:

"swan swan hummingbird"...maybe Jarboe is the hummingbird
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Michael 98145:

loving this set. thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Rich in Washington:

I hope I don't ever run out of clicky likey stars.
Avatar 1:42pm Mary Wing:

I think RevolutionRabbit is the only guy who should worry about that, heh.
Avatar 1:43pm fred:

@Rich: You should be safe, as long as you don't waste them on Don Felder every week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

haha Mary i was thinking that!
Avatar 1:44pm Mary Wing:

Oh god, it *kills* me that Felder has the most likes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Michael 98145:

how do you think =we= feel ?

:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Rich in Washington:

I remain neutral on the Don Felder thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm coelacanth∅:

i don't
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Rich in Washington:

I was virtually obsessed with the Heavy Metal film and its soundtrack in my freshman year in high school, even though I fully acknowledged even at the time that that song is its nadir.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm coelacanth∅:

...though i know it's just for a goof, but i do have to turn wfmu off at 11am on tuesdays!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Rich in Washington:

At least it's not Sammy Hagar's Heavy Metal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Michael 98145:

rocking out with our monkey out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm coelacanth∅:

well- it's somebody's attempt at creating some type of music he knew nothing about; which was suitable for children (adolescents) because it wasn't TOO heavy.
...like peter paul & mary singing "i like rock and roll music".
...okay even (takin' a ride) isn't as bad as that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm chresti:

Hello Whatnots and whatever!
Avatar 1:57pm Mary Wing:

Hi chresti! Just in time for 3oak!
Avatar 1:57pm fred:

@Mary: I take from your reaction that we're not at risk of a "three of a kind" Heavy Metal ordeal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm steveo:

i can't explain why bowie did such a slow version of this :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm steveo:

i guess it was just one of those things
Avatar 1:59pm Mary Wing:

NEVER, fred. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm steveo:

i didn't mind when felder was just a dumb joke, but then it started getting stuck in my head at other times during the week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Howdy all! Blossom Dearie, Vot happened?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm coelacanth∅:

i always cue something else up from another source if i'm listening on tuesday mornings. even the joke isn't funny any more (not for a long time) and i don't need to engage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm KevinfromBayRidge:

There's something to be said for uncontrol.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm coelacanth∅:

can't i say it like Alice Cooper?!
i don't know how to type a menacing 1/2 whisper. steveo, how would one do that? (figured you're the one to ask!)
Avatar 2:12pm Sem:

God bless BB for that little bit...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm steveo:

ᶦˢ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᵐᵉⁿᵃᶜᶦⁿᵍˀ (from lingojam.com... )
Avatar 2:14pm Mary Wing:

Heh, for people with really good eyesight?

Hiya Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm coelacanth∅:

never heard this. it reminds me of pm dawn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm coelacanth∅:

haha steveo! it is strangely menacing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Michael 98145:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm coelacanth∅:

(and i tried that site recently and didn't figure out how to use it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Michael 98145:

{ failed attempt - don't mind me. }
Avatar 2:18pm Roberto:

Holy schmoly, talk about your esoteric Threes of A Kind!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm chresti:

ₛᵢₙᵢₛₜₑᵣ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm steveo:

I also never heard it but enjoying
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Michael 98145:

some fancy things look nice until you try posting ...
Avatar 2:20pm Mary Wing:

I couldn't believe there were actual covers of this, frankly.
Avatar 2:20pm Roberto:

The original was a modest alternative radio hit. I remember it very well.
Avatar 2:21pm Roberto:

It samples B.B. King, if memory serves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Michael 98145:

nice discoveries !
Avatar 2:23pm Mary Wing:

Yes, from his song "How Blue Can You Get"
Avatar 2:29pm northguineahills:

Not only have I not heard the original song, I've haven't even heard of the original band.
Avatar 2:30pm Mary Wing:

Heh, well, it *was* the 90s, NGH. You were still very young. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm fleep:

I recall it because it got airplay while we were renting a house off Mulholland Drive (because ours got rock and rolled in the Northridge earthquake). STAR98 played it a lot.
Avatar 2:34pm fred:

I don't remember ever hearing it either. Not that I was that young then, but I was very clueless about music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Carmichael:

I was anti-radio during this era.
Avatar 2:35pm northguineahills:

By '96, I was turned off by most 'Alternative' bands (but there are some notable exceptions). Yes, I was 20.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm crateslinger:

Were The Copyrights concerned about Blink 182 suing them?
Avatar 2:37pm northguineahills:

The last decent non-NPR radio station went off the air my senior year of HS, so after that, it was only pirate radio micro-stations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Carmichael:

Are they saying what I think they're saying?
Avatar 2:39pm Mary Wing:

What might that be, Carm?
Avatar 2:39pm Sem:

Oh so innocently, Mary :-b
Avatar 2:42pm fred:

Weird that there was a cover from 2018. Did it come with an explanation of what a phone booth might be?
Avatar 2:43pm Mary Wing:

I'm the biggest hit, I'm the biggest hit on the stage is what I heard. :-)
Avatar 2:43pm northguineahills:

I had no idea Gnarls Barkley covered that!
Avatar 2:43pm Mary Wing:

Ha ha haaaaaaah, Fred.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Carmichael:

Fred, a phone booth is a booth with a phone in it. Think of Dr. Who.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Michael 98145:

@Carm, good point. Now the Internet is bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside.
Avatar 2:45pm northguineahills:

A phone booth is where you pee. Some are also Wi-Fi hotspots. Haven't found a tardis, even in the UK. (although my local watering hole has one).
Avatar 2:45pm Roberto:

Is this Idaho? Cuz I don't limbo in Idaho.
Avatar 2:46pm Roberto:

All contemporary hip hop sounds like that Bad Lip Reading rap to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Michael 98145:

All the hits. All the time.
Avatar 2:48pm david w:

Lots of wow today, thanks, Mary!
Avatar 2:48pm Sem:

Avatar 2:48pm Mary Wing:

Heh heh. Everyone's got their funny pants on today. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm chresti:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm steveo:

my education continues -- can't remember if Kim K qualifies
Avatar 2:50pm Mary Wing:

Qualifies for what, though? A sentient being?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm fleep:

Thanks, Mary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Michael 98145:

Thanks again, Mary W ♫
Avatar 2:57pm Sem:

What flipper said.
Avatar 2:57pm fred:

re 78 fake news: I know there's an outfit in the UK where you can get your music on wax cylinders. A noise band I know almost did it, but the shipping was expensive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:
