How's my ol' Uncle Irwin?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Carmichael:

Netflix seems to be a damn fine company.
Avatar 3:05pm The Count of Al Dente:

It's nice that their NIgerian reps care so much about your account.
  3:05pm berbo:

Joke's on you - I don't *have* a Netflix account!
Avatar 3:07pm Roberto:

Temporarely = rarely temporary
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm chris:

classic phishing from your friend who can haz all your datas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm crateslinger:

this black pumas groove is killin me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm crateslinger:

one more time yeah that's it
Avatar 3:09pm Irwin:

BP singer has a great range. And CHARISMA.
Avatar 3:13pm Irwin:

Black Pumas - "Black Moon Rising" (live) www.youtube.com...
Avatar 3:22pm Roberto:

Gold star for the bass alone on this one.
  3:22pm Beetlemuse:

I always discover great music on this show!
Avatar 3:24pm Irwin:

And yes, that is THE Peter Ivers. And THE Yolande Bavan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm DroneTree:

Is it wrong to say that this reminds me of Cocorosie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If Netflix has locked the account, how are you supposed to access it? Good thing I don't have a Netflix to begin with.
Avatar 3:34pm Irwin:

Ken: To re-activate You must to complete All the step.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm G:

@Ken. Phishing email. They're looking for you to enter your login etc. on the phishers' site.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Carmichael:

Wow, I thought this was Stereolab.
Avatar 3:39pm Hoboken Jack:

Hey they're playing my song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm zopa:

Step 1: I admit that I am powerless over Netflix, my life has become unmanageable.
Avatar 3:40pm Listening Out There:

Joe McGasko played a bunch of early Who on Monday. Always welcome...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Mick:

Love this version - fun appendix to Joe M's single file yesterday
Avatar 3:41pm Roberto:

It's not the same without "I saw ya" at the end.
Avatar 3:42pm Irwin:

Jack: Why are they paving your street? There are worse in Hoboken. Did you bribe someone at CH?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Great but somewhat forgotten artist.
Avatar 3:47pm Irwin:

First album was his best.
Avatar 3:48pm Irwin:

Eddie Hoh on drums.
Avatar 3:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Somebody making a frame drum sound like a trapset?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Irwin, @G - Oh, snap!
Avatar 3:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Has a faceborg : www.facebook.com...
Avatar 3:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...don't know if an Irwingram...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Agreed, Irwin. Michaels got a lot of play on early progressive NY radio but his "Big Hit Single" made him a bit overbearing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Plus Frosty would get confused Leslie West. Pre body shaming days!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm G:

UK note: Protheroe has been the voice talent on a UK dating reality show for most of the 2010s...
Avatar 4:03pm Irwin:

The whole two-man band thing got tired quickly. Altho on Lee's 2nd album he was a one-man band. Thereafter, Frosty at the drums was an improvement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Kat in Chicago:

I am very fond of "Pinball" but never listened to much else from Brian Protheroe. I ought to fix that.
Avatar 4:06pm Irwin:

Kat: He made three albums. They're all equally terrific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Parq:

Re Onyx, I was on line behind this woman at the ATM last week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm G:

@Parq: sounds Absolutely Fabulous.
Avatar 4:12pm Irwin:

How did you recognize her?
  4:12pm Listener Robert:

I don't know if Netflix had anything to do with it, but suddenly you guys seem to have found another 4 grand. Let's hope Kelly Jones doesn't discover they have a suspicious domain name.
Avatar 4:13pm Jack:

I liked Lee Michaels hair. Also, I guess I always thought Skip Prokop was the drummer on "Super Sessions" but it was Eddie Hoh.
Avatar 4:13pm Irwin:

Avatar 4:14pm Irwin:

It was indeed Eddie Hoh on SS. Great technique & speed. I think he was a drug casualty. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Avatar 4:15pm βrian:

Does that mean his music was a drug causality?
  4:16pm PNW THC:

this is a killer west african jam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm G:

Wikipedia says Hoh dropped out of the music biz soon after 1970, was down in his luck for years, and died in a nursing home at age 71 just a few years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm G:

*on. Ugh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Parq:

What PNW etc said about Shangold.
Avatar 4:18pm Irwin:

Is there a Percussipedia?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm G:

@IC: Get on that haha
  4:20pm Martinibomb:

Hiya Irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm KevinfromBayRidge:

@Listener Robert, They must have finished counting the beer tip money.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm KevinfromBayRidge:

From the Record Fair!
Avatar 4:22pm βrian:

@Irwin: Beats me.
  4:22pm queems:

oh wow
Avatar 4:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Speaking of drummers - was it pushing Karen up front did her in, you reckon?
  4:23pm mmzzm:

did the original track have cello part??
Avatar 4:23pm Listening Out There:

vocal/drums/eating disorder...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Parq:

This Karen track is beautiful and creepy.
  4:23pm queems:

i can’t tell if i like this or hate this
Avatar 4:23pm Jack:

yeah but Wikipedia also says the drummer on "Carnival of Life" was David Potter(?) not Hoh.
Avatar 4:24pm Irwin:

Credits were incorrect on the LM album. It was Hoh. 99% sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Spankyflop:

Is that Karen on drums?
  4:24pm mmzzm:

she was my sole reason I leaned on mezzo
Avatar 4:25pm Irwin:

Spanky: Check Percussipedia.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm G:

@queems: Welcome to FMU!
Avatar 4:25pm Listening Out There:

Maybe Karen Carpenter would have been happier as Hal Blaine...
Avatar 4:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Very possibly.
Avatar 4:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm common:

Avatar 4:27pm Listening Out There:

Richard Carpenter might have been happier as Cole Porter...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, queems. How did your medical procedure go this morning?
Avatar 4:35pm Irwin:

Richard was in many ways the genius behind the Carpenters. Arranged, composed, sang, played several instruments, created the sound. Altho IMHO, the sound was somewhat derived from the Free Design.
Avatar 4:38pm Listening Out There:

The Beaver Harris has...Ron Carter on bass...?
  4:38pm Martinibomb:

Nice to hear that from you about the Free Design.. I always kinda suspect that
Avatar 4:40pm Irwin:

LOT: Buster Williams on bass.
Avatar 4:41pm Listening Out There:

Buster Williams...sounded similar to RC. Great playing. Thx though...
  4:48pm berbo:

The other day I came across this interview with John Bettis, co-writer on several Carpenter's songs:
Avatar 4:51pm Irwin:

That link's not working, berb.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Z-pulpa:

Happy May Day everyone!
  4:58pm Grubbus:

is this about losing that bet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

May 1st, so "Rabbit rabbit!"
Avatar 5:00pm Roberto:

It's a state of mind.
Avatar 5:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Whut whut ??
Avatar 5:02pm Irwin:

Yo, Grubbus!!!!!
Avatar 5:03pm Irwin:

from the mail blast: Tonight, Ken and Andy invite people who think they are good at using time effectively to call in and prove to them that multitasking is NOT all bullshit! Callers will FaceTime Ken or Andy on their personal phones to prove exactly how many things they are doing (badly) at once. Ken says the numbers will be given out on the air.
Avatar 5:03pm Listening Out There:

RE the Netflix image: My guess is it's some irate employee's revenge. Info at qz.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Kelly Jones:

Irwin...I am really enjoying today's program, as I do most Wednesdays.
Avatar 5:12pm Irwin:

Available for sushi, Miss Jones?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Sounds like a phishing scam for 7SD to harvest our personal cell phone numbers. I'm all keen on phishing now. I should go look for apps that can spoof my cell phone calls; make it look like some other number is calling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm G:

Ken: If they could get you to video skype, and they are good enough hackers, they'd be able to turn on your laptop/desktop cam whenever, and spy on you. Worse than the NSA.
  5:22pm Mike tp:

I once seen art Farmer N Benny golson with drummer Marvin Smitty Smith at Willowbrook Mall Wayne NJ.it was free and it was cooking.just popped in late but time enough to give a listen and ssy hi to You Irwin N listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm G:

Greenbaum's followup to Spirit In The Sky, "Canned Ham," even got on the radio for a bit. I recall hearing it a couple times as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Carmichael:

Mike tp, you're sounding a little bit like Lyle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Michael 98145:

thank you for this -
Avatar 5:33pm Listening Out There:

"Erk," he said.
Avatar 5:39pm flashback:

Hello Irwin and listeners
  5:44pm Martinibomb:

Hi Flashback
Avatar 5:44pm Fredericks:

Ctraltu is doing something very different; I am intrigued.
Avatar 5:45pm flashback:

when I saw the name Ctraltu, it made me think of the mythos in Lovecraft stories
Avatar 5:45pm Jeff Moore:

Avatar 5:47pm Irwin:

Everything I've heard by Ctraltu is great. But it's difficult typing their name.
Avatar 5:49pm flashback:

I need to get back to sleeping at night and being awake during the days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Carmichael:

I thought you only had to type it once, Irwin. Don't you have autofill?
Avatar 5:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's when Cthulhu (spellcheck has him!...) presses ControlAltDelete...
Avatar 5:50pm Fredericks:

Reading up the comments, I came across Beaver Harris 360° Experience! I was listening to From Ragtime to No Time a couple of weeks ago.
Avatar 5:52pm flashback:

I didn`t know
Bowie did that song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 5:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hm : en.wikipedia.org...
If this Barrence makes me this happy - imagine them Live ! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Saw Bowie at his 50th BDay@ MSG. Lou was one of the guests. They might have done WL/WH. Twas a lonnnng time ago!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm G:

@flashback: Bowie was a big Velvet U fan. He did WL/WH during the Ziggy period, maybe 73ish, and used it to promote the Ziggy film in the early 80s. Performed it in concert a fair amount, too.
Avatar 5:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 5:58pm flashback:

Thanks for a great show Irwin
  10:20pm scott:

Tasmin did some more according to wiki: Shipbuilding, Bloom and On. I bought '92 release, but lost track too.
