Hello! Going to try to really pay attention to this show tonight (instead of checking e-mail and playing games).
  7:03pm P-90:

Andy: “Is it for grown-ups?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm ultradamno:

Complicated and for grown-ups? Well, I'll give it a try.
  7:05pm fullmetalmonkey:

Hello everyone
  7:06pm Dave from Brooklyn:

Women must be free to be whatever they desire to be. Hopefully that day will arrive.
  7:07pm Deren Iberius Flamingus:

But those jokes are the highlight of the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm melinda:

hi all
  7:11pm Dave from Brooklyn:

I have learned so much and been inspired by so many wonderful women, many of them are incredible activists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm ultradamno:

Yeah, this screams bot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm melinda:

what a weird comment, I would suspect bot too.
  7:14pm Dave from Brooklyn:

When The Pittsburgh Temple attack occurred,Muslim women in my Brooklyn neighborhood immediately formed groups to raise money to help. That's true love
  7:14pm DeepCreep:

“Pack a Lunch” means “Get ready for the drama”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm listener 126464:

pack me a lunch
  7:14pm dez:

"pack a lunch, cuz I'll be beating your ass all day."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm melinda:

kind of hilarious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm ultradamno:

I assume it's just concern that you might get peckish
  7:15pm P-90:

Could conceivably be a compliment...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm melinda:

@DeepCreep like sitting back with some popcorn?
Avatar 7:16pm Jeff Moore:

What buttons does Miss Emily push? She's always seemed benign to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Richard S:

(waves when he hears his name)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Life-a-holics.
Avatar 7:17pm Jeff Moore:

This one's funny:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm ultradamno:

Here you on Twitter: @IRL_emilyy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm melinda:

you don't strike me as a normie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Richard S:

Anyway.... A relevant graphic for tonight's program. Familiarize yourselves with it, and you'll know more about Islam than, sadly, far too many Americans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm ultradamno:

Abby Normie
Avatar 7:20pm kimzilla:

@melinda, thank you!
Avatar 7:20pm Jeff Moore:

Oops – sorry, Emily, I didn't really mean that connotation of blandness. I mostly just meant that you seem the opposite of malignant.
  7:21pm Emily:

Hahah Thank you, Jeff! I figured that’s what you meant :) I am a button pusher though.
  7:22pm Emily:

Or I can be. Not for nothin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm ultradamno:

Without veering to much into politics, think of Ilhan Omar whatever you like, but I've noticed a deliberate tactic of some media figures (Tomi Lahren, Jeanine Pirro, other Fox News types) to just work her name into the phrase "sharia law" as often as possible without any factual basis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm ultradamno:

Work her name and that phrase into the same sentence, I mean to say.
  7:23pm Emily:

@ Ken from HP “lifeaholics”! I love that one.
Avatar 7:23pm kimzilla:

@Richard, thanks for this. Really interesting stuff!
  7:25pm Emily:

@ultradamno it’s like malignant word-association conditioning.
  7:26pm DeonnaSayed:

Hey everyone! Thanks for being in the chat room
Avatar 7:26pm kimzilla:

We'll have to bring Mark Hurst into this @Ultradamno, but I am sure that there are creepy algorithms created that have search results of "sharia law" when you type Ilhan Omar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Richard S:

No prob, @Kimzilla! It's amazing to see that there are many varieties of Islam, just like Christianity.
  7:26pm Emily:

@ Deonna! Welcome!
Avatar 7:27pm kimzilla:

@Hi Deonna. Welcome! Lifers, meet Deonna.
  7:27pm DeonnaSayed:

Hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Richard S:

Hello Deonna! And welcome to WFMU, the coolest radio station in the world!
  7:32pm DeonnaSayed:

Salaam ya'll
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm ultradamno:

Hello, Deonna.
  7:36pm DeonnaSayed:

Hi Ultradamno
  7:37pm DeonnaSayed:

OK, so it wasn't right across my breasts, unfortunately (see photo)
  7:37pm P-90:

Awww, now I feel sorry for “Basic Becky”...
Avatar 7:38pm kimzilla:

It's still "down there" : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm listener 126464:

in the ballpark
  7:38pm DeonnaSayed:

True. People have to look...down
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm ultradamno:

Not next hour's Becky, though.
  7:39pm dez:

yes!!! performative identities!!! they're the worst!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm ultradamno:

You hear it said that 'white' is a fictional social construct, but what you say about your experience lays it out concretely.
Avatar 7:40pm kimzilla:

Right, Normie Becky, not Honky Tonk Becky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm melinda:

so true about performative identity
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Richard S:

It seems there's less than the usual chatter on the message board tonight. Must be because everyone is LISTENING!
  7:47pm DeonnaSayed:

I'm talk about heavy stuff....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm ultradamno:

This might be another area to bring in Mark, is how social media has corralled people into virtual tribes that do not abide contradictions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm listener 126464:

we can handle it
  7:51pm Redbranch:

Should black people sit down and talk with white supremacists? How is crossing the BDS picket line to talk to zionists different? I'm all for Jews and Muslims tearing down barriers, but is there is no zionism that is compatible with values of freedom and equality for all people. Its whole history has been about controlling both Jews and Muslims, and pitting them against each other. We can benefit from talking to people who have different perspectives, but not those who have different values or want us dead for being who we are.
Avatar 7:51pm kimzilla:

Ultradamno, I think you might be right. @listener 126363, right, we totally can multitask!
  7:51pm Emily:

I’m listening instead of typing! This is one I wanted to hear again. Even though we just edited it.
Avatar 7:53pm kimzilla:

I was always taken by this guy and the conversations and minds he has changed in the KKK world, and he's a black guy. I think its difficult, and some people are good at listening. I think that is a big part of it. Not trying to change minds. www.npr.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm melinda:

@ultradamno I'd like to hear a show on that.
  7:55pm Listener Robert:

This has been an excellent one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm melinda:

@kimzilla I thought of Daryl Davis too. I think there is a Love & Radio podcast episode with him.
  7:56pm Emily:

I love this concept of “small stories” and this way of talking about it. I’m incorporating this into my verbiage.
  7:56pm Emily:

Thanks, Listener Robert!
  7:56pm Emily:

@ Melinda oh, I LOVE love & radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm ultradamno:

Holy crap, I just got a shock checking the clock! Thanks so much Kim, Emily and Deonna!
  7:57pm DeonnaSayed:

Thank you for listening. I had a wonderful time with Emily and Kimzilla.
  7:58pm Listener Robert:

I'm tempted to wish you ill health forever, i.e. your loss is our gain -- but I doubt there's really a negative correlation with quality of program, and you people are too nice to be sick. Feel better ASAP.
  7:58pm DeonnaSayed:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm Richard S:

As-salāmu ʿalaykum!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm listener 126464:

Thanks Kim, Emily (get well soon), Deonna and respect to all
  7:59pm DeonnaSayed:

Wa alaykum. 'asalaam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm Richard S:
