Greetings, Scott and attendants. I hope listener fred and other Paris residents are OK today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

More fun with wfmu: i like to look at who else has clicky starred a track and then check out the previous playlists it was in—discovering programs i'd never heard before. Gotta have strategies to navigate this sprawling beast!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Scott Williams:

these guys are playing at the FMU Record Fair at 3pm on Sunday April 28!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm mcgreivey:

There's a Russian band called Va Bank (Ва-Банкъ). Is this Va Banque the same band? I don't know. I quick look at discogs didn't tell me. Wikipedia tells me that Va-Bank (Georgian: ვა-ბანკი) is the Georgian (that is, the country and former Soviet Republic) version of Deal or No Deal. You're welcome.
Avatar 4:01pm northguineahills:

Jimbo O'Rourke doing Ivor Cutler!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

ngh: thanks for that, my mind was scanning desperately for "where have i heard this before?!?!?"
Avatar 4:05pm TDK60:

Hello Scott and others, in the land of dwindling liberty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm mcgreivey:

Oh. And awesome version of Hocus Pocus. Focus did a cool fast version of it, more raw than the album version or the 7" version (which was, i think, an edit/remix of the album version?). I think the fast version may have been on the Ship of Memories outtakes compilation. You're welcome again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Devin B.:

Avatar 4:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Not familiar with Mercury Rev. At first was convinced this had to be some lost live Olivia Tremor Control thing. Something in the vocal melody. Weird.
  4:13pm Pas Musique:

How I love this Mercury Rev album!
  4:14pm Pas Musique:

Rev Turnip........Ever hear their "Harmony Rockets" side project release? OMG...I think you would love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Scott Williams:

I love the 1st 3 Mercury Rev records. And yeah, alter ego Harmony Rockets was killer for awhile too
Avatar 4:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I would say I hate PsychedelicGittars
...but then I would have to turn inside-out & crawl on spiderlegs like in TheThing...
Avatar 4:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

PAS! Not familiar with that either, but a quick look at Discogs reveals Suzanne Thorpe is part of that as well (with my photo of her project thenumber46 on that discogs page... small world) circles within circles..
Avatar 4:18pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Also: this set effing kicks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Scott Williams:

why thank ye, good rev!
Avatar 4:20pm Chris from DC:

Oh yay, Banque Allemande. Good stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Phillippe Bastille:

This Banque Allemande: all my thumbs up
  4:27pm hauswolf:

This set. Mein Gott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Scott Williams:

Danke, hauswolf!
  4:28pm Pas Musique:

Wow! I just found two more Harmony Rickets releases on the Mercury Rev Bandcamp! I only knew "Paralyzed Mind of the Archangel Void" There goes my money.
  4:29pm B z:

I do like this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Scott Williams:

I am trying to determine if it is worth it to drag myself to Brooklyn in the hopes to see Ministry play 80's-90's era stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Private Presley:

Thought it was a Moog "My Way" for a minute
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Scott Williams:

@Fox, is Jourgensen no longer denying "With Sympathy" ever existed?!?
Avatar 4:48pm Chris from DC:

Ministry should do like Wire did with Pink Flag and find a band to cover With Sympathy in it's entirety.
Avatar 4:48pm Fox:

@Scott - oooh, I don't know! Was that the one where he has a british accent for no reason?
Avatar 4:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Local station down here WHFS back in the early '80s played the hell out of that "Nature of Love" single. Ministry before they became grumpy goobers.
Avatar 4:48pm northguineahills:

Eating boiled peanuts makes it hard to type....
Avatar 4:48pm Chris from DC:

*its entirety
Avatar 4:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ministry stole everything from NIN & then Prodigy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Scott Williams:

@Fox, it's great new romantic synthpop! Before all the motor oil, homophobia and skulls
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Phillippe Bastille:

Ahh, HFS in the good old days....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Ike:

WHFS was certainly where I discovered a lot of good stuff as a yout. They even played weird offbeat hip-hop like Basehead every once in a while... though not often.
Avatar 4:59pm Fox:

Yeah, I'm torn. The later stuff is so terribly cheezy, but my inner teenager would be really happy to get to hear Psalm 69 played live.

HA HA HA HA! "motor oil, homophobia and skulls"!
Avatar 5:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

OH MY GAWD, haven't heard this Kali Bahlu thing in 30 years. Found it in a thrift store in the MD suburbs, played it endlessly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Did I already tell everyone this story? My first exposure to Kali Bahlu was on the great Re/Search Press cassette, "Incredibly Strange Music." I got it when I was a wee teenage girl. I wonder if I still have that tape...
Avatar 5:10pm northguineahills:

@Rev: I know someone else has played Kali tracks, but this one hasn't been faved so I don't remember whom...
  5:11pm andrewb:

There has always been a touch of the phony with Ministry but "Jesus Built My Hotrod" may be the best driving song ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Passaic River Blues:

@NGH & The Rev.: I most recently heard the Kali on Zoe's show.
Avatar 5:12pm northguineahills:

I had a coworker named Craig Leon, whom to my knowledge wasn't a musician. (and was my age, so, probably not the same guy).
  5:12pm Martinibomb:

Loving the show just loving it today, Scott. Hello fellow FMU listeners.
  5:13pm Fashion Tashjian:

@andrewb Seconded in ye statement.
Avatar 5:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

must obtain this Leon immediately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Scott Williams:

thank ye Martinibomb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Scott Williams:

I give "Jesus Built My Hotrod" a pass b/c of the samples from "Wise Blood"
Avatar 5:19pm Bas NL:

I've seen William Basinski live twice.. Beautiful. Peaceful.
Avatar 5:20pm TDK60:

I like this like this very different cover version of Cream's old tune, which I also like.

I loved the first 5 Ministry albums (With Sympathy to the live album), but Psalm 69 was over the top (of something), and what I heard of subsequent albums left me cold.

Avatar 5:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Growing undercurrent? We got an ointment for that, too.
Avatar 5:50pm Fox:

I've decided against going to Ministry. It would be a purely nostalgia based outing. I'm trying to destroy nostalgia.
