Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm ultradamno:

Muppets do Carroll?
Avatar 7:02pm dale:

was the muppets laugh tracked or to an audience?
  7:03pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Probably laugh tracked due to all the technical aspects of that show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Bringing a devil-may-care attitude tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

@Ken sounds like a plan.
  7:04pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Also any show that starts with a muppets clip will be great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm melinda:

I saw Jersey Devil finger puppets at the International Museum of Cryptozoology when I visited a few years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

Sounds like my late mother -in law.
Avatar 7:06pm dale:

infinity and beyond?
  7:06pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

This is more of a Halloween show but I’ll take it in April
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Richard S:

Every time you think one of these creatures is completely bogus, scientists find another bizarre creature that's never been seen before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Phillippe Bastille:

I'm not really sure about this...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm ultradamno:

Isn't the Jersey devil just the boss in Bruce Springsteen songs?
Avatar 7:08pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Weird NJ is a great site for all things paranormal in the Garden State.
Avatar 7:09pm kimzilla:

@Aaron, you are going to be happy to know that Joe McGasko is filling in, with his muppet intro!
  7:09pm Emily:

@Aaron think of it as an April Fool’s show? Hoaxes?
  7:09pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Filling in for Becky?
  7:10pm Emily:

@Aaron Yah
  7:10pm Emily:

Oh, and hi everybody!
  7:10pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Ah cool. Yup yup yup uh huh
  7:11pm Emily:

Yeah! Weird NJ is a GREAT source for all your paranormal escapades.
Avatar 7:12pm dale:

13th child usually is goaty horsey. good eggs and sperm dropped long ago.
Avatar 7:12pm kimzilla:

We picked this because there is a upcoming Jersey Devil Festival in Asbury Park, NJ (May 5th) Brian Regal will be talking there. Looks cool, and I love local fables! www.evensi.us...
  7:13pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

I’m just shocked the jersey devil doesn’t have his own show on here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I thought it was clever when the NHL moved a hockey team to the Meadowlands, they chose the nickname New Jersey Devils. Where is Danne D to back this up?
  7:14pm Emily:

@Dale hahah
  7:14pm Colin in Durham, England:

If your country is only about 200 years old do you get to have myths and legends?

Also, now that everyone has cameras, it’s odd that there’s less and less sightings.

Sorry to be a downer but people waste Their entire lives on this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

@Aaron He did but all he played was Bruce Springsteen and Little Steven.
  7:14pm fullmetalmonkey:

I wonder is the jersey devil eats jackalopes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Richard S:

@Colin: Like a lot of other things, we stole them from the original inhabitants....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

May 4 is a New Moon, so it's extra spooky!
  7:18pm dez:

he had a zine!!!
Avatar 7:20pm kimzilla:

@Colin, Even for a young country, there are fables and legends. But you are totally right, today it must be a lot harder to fake monster sightings. Which is why our second interview is about critical thinking and having a healthy dose of skepticism.
  7:22pm Emily:

@fullmetalmonkey for sure. OR they’re his henchman. Henchalopes.
  7:22pm Kate:

I didn't realize the Quakers were so reactionary.
  7:23pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

I know next you will tell me they burned people alive
  7:26pm Kate:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

I live in Ohio. They say there are sightings of Bigfoot close to me. All I ask , Why haven't they found footprints in the snow, Deer hunters tramp all through the woods around here in the winter. or a dead body. And with all the game cameras in my area some one should have had a picture by now.--- Oh Wait a minute I think I just saw one playing with my dogs in the backyard. I'll get back to you, hopefully with a few photos.
  7:27pm fullmetalmonkey:

What if Bigfoot had wings?
  7:27pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Avatar 7:28pm kimzilla:

I had to trim this story but what was crazy about the jersey devil was that they actually just used a kangaroo on display, painted it green and threw some wings on it, and then let people poke it with a stick.
  7:29pm Sam:

Every time I’ve gone hiking in the pine barrens I’ve been harassed by jersey devils. They’re out of freakin control. Usually now when I hear them coming I just head back t my car - not even worth it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

Is there any music on this program? Sorry new to this program.
  7:30pm Sam:

Just the awesome theme song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm ultradamno:

Jersey Devil really seems a lateral change from Leeds Devil in terms of marketing appeal to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm Richard S:

Well, we're finding new and strange creatures almost every month. But for something to stay hidden for so long in a relatively populated area? ....
  7:30pm Kate:

@ Aaron this sounds like a very unlikely story to explain the Jersey devil, who everyone knows haunts the entire state to this day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm melinda:

There is a famous photo of Bigfoot that people analyze like the Zapruder film but I forget the names of the men who took the photo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

Thanks Sam
  7:31pm Emily:

@Sam what kind of harassment? Do they throw beer cans and shout crass insults? That’s what I’d imagine...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm melinda:

@ultradamno I agree
Avatar 7:32pm kimzilla:

@CJ, nope, this is a talk/ interview show. But if you wait 30 minutes, you will be in good musical hands. Plus, you don't want us to play our music.
  7:32pm Emily:

Yeah, we can’t even tell Snoop from Coolio...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

TY Kimzilla. I think I could handle your musical taste. If you you listen to WFMU you can handle anything :)
  7:35pm Sam:

No, they sneak up on me and howl and make threatening gestures, and they swoop around me, then hide, then get up in my face, a few times they pushed me onto the ground and it really hurt. I’ll swing a big stick at them sometimes. I’m tired of their crap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

I've told people this station is so good that I can't listen to some of it. Thats the truth>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm ultradamno:

I've experienced this stuff. It definitely can be alarming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

I saw a vision of my X wife It was terrifying!!!
Avatar 7:39pm kimzilla:

@CJ, this station is so good that I can't listen some of the time too. But I keep coming back. When you find your favorites, that's when the magic really happens for your ears.
  7:39pm Emily:

@CJ oh for sure. It’s an endurance test sometimes. I think it builds my ear stamina.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Richard S:

@CJ - Don't forget the archives and streams!
  7:40pm Emily:

@Sam big bullies! Those devils are hoodlums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

I agree 100 percent. Started with wake and bake. Went from there. You guys are awesome!!!!
  7:41pm Nells:

Wow this is all one sided information
  7:41pm Emily:

@ultradamno hahaha
Avatar 7:41pm dale:

this show could turn into an area 51 every week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

Thanks Richard S. I have looked at them.
  7:42pm Emily:

@dale I do feel we are perpetually headed in that direction. Any episode could end up there.
  7:42pm Emily:

@CJ thank you!! We sure are happy to have you, welcome :)
  7:42pm fullmetalmonkey:

Oh so I guess it would be tough for Bigfoot to fly
Avatar 7:42pm kimzilla:

@Nells, Just curious, what other side are you looking for to add to a show about skepticism and a historical fables?
  7:43pm Listener Robert:

How about a scapula so big it becomes a wing? Still with arms below them.
  7:43pm Sam:

We should bring back Neanderthals! How cool would that be?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Richard S:

Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, Dodo, Passenger pigeon....
Avatar 7:45pm kimzilla:

@Sam, that reminds me of the Geico commercials! Those poor cavemen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

TY Emily. That's another thing that is great about this station. Everybody makes you feel at home and appreciated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm ultradamno:

ing back the Elephant Bird for REALLY punk birdwatchers! fthmb.tqn.com...
Avatar 7:46pm kimzilla:

@CJ, you my friend are now an official "Lifer" Congrats. So nice to see so many new names here tonight!
  7:48pm Kate:

critical thinking is limited by the base of knowledge you've been given
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

Wonder what kind of music this guy listens to. Just wondering.
  7:49pm Sam:

Is it rational to believe in ghosts or aliens if you’ve heard tons of stories from reputable people who claim to have encountered them? Or is it more rational to assume the person was somehow mistaken? Even when they’re sure it’s true and different people report similar things? Then again, people are so easily deluded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Phillippe Bastille:

Mythical creature around here is a human who will let you in when you put your turn signal on. Never seen one in the wild.
  7:50pm Emily:

I think it’s so interesting that he talks about skepticism as a technology.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

I relate to people through music alot of times more through dialogue
  7:51pm Emily:

@Phillippe burrrrrrrn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm melinda:

@Emily me too
  7:51pm Kate:

@ Phillippe truth
Avatar 7:53pm kimzilla:

@Sam, that's a very good question. Emily and I did an episode on alien abductions and this woman encountered something and she very much believed she was abducted. It felt very honest and real.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

All I am saying is I believe in aliens and ghost more that Bigfoot. Enough said!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Richard S:

You need to keep an open mind about these things, but not so open that your brain falls out.
Avatar 7:54pm kimzilla:

Great point Richard!
  7:56pm Sam:

Yeah kimzilla, I never know what to make of cases like that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Bootsie:

This is actually distressing to me. :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm Richard S:

A really interesting and cool show tonight! I wonder if you can top it next week?
  7:57pm Kate:

@Bootsie so sorry, why?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm ultradamno:

Being easily convinced can be the far more pernicious thing. Ask witches.
Avatar 7:58pm dale:

'bigfoot: private eye' would be a good tv show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm melinda:

Yes, great show ladies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Bootsie:

@Kate, I am always holding out hope that more people will embrace logic, but listening to this it seems it's actually illogical for me to even HAVE that hope.
  7:59pm Sam:

“I buried Paul”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@dale - Or maybe a sitcom with the Bigfoot family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm melinda:

Sam haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

@ Dale Agreed. Write the script. I ve seen you type enough on here to handle it.
  8:01pm Listener Robert:

Until ~20 yrs. ago, when you subbed for a scheduled host on WFMU, you were the guest host of that show. Now it's usually tht you're doing your own show at an unscheduled time.
  8:01pm Kate:

@Bootsie I get that, I think reality is relative, but we can still use logic
  8:01pm Listener Robert:

Archiving is what I think changed that dynamic.
