I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm listener james from westwood:

Rhode Island it is! First time there. Copy editors' conference!

Wo, Oskar Sala, hard to find recorded material from him...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Doug Schulkind:

Greetings, playverts!
Avatar 12:17pm Mayuko:

Copy editors' conference!? Everyone speaks correct English 24 hours at this gathering? Sounds intense!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:17pm Mayuko:

Happy Saturday to you too rbrt!! Good morning chresti! Thank you for tuning in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm fleep:

There are Oxford comma fights. With knives.
Avatar 12:18pm Mayuko:

Hi Doug!!! Thank you for helping me out last weekend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm fleep:

Greetings, Mayuko and humans with excellent taste
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Doug Schulkind:

Of course!
  12:20pm rw:

Morning! Heading out to do more of whatever it is that I do but had to check in to say hello and marvel a little at the not quite black of this playlist page. I'll be listening from the road. Happy Saturday everyone!
Avatar 12:20pm Mayuko:

All hail the drummer stream vater fleep!
  12:20pm P-90:

Noo noo noo noo nah nah noo noo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Dropof Goldensun:

Humans with excellent taste. Possibly the dinner conversation during a sunset on a different planet.
Avatar 12:21pm JosephB:

@rw Happy Saturday!
Avatar 12:21pm Mayuko:

Drive safe and have a great weekend, rw!!! Thanks for checking in!
  12:21pm rbrt:

this sounds like one of those keyboard things you blow in, but electronic
  12:22pm P-90:

See? I know the words to this. Hi Mayuko.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Uncle Michael:

Hello, people.
  12:24pm Ike:

@LJFW, wow! I’ve never been to that. If you meet anybody who’s just starting out in the NJ/NYC area and needs a temp gig, please point them my way, OK?
  12:25pm Ike:

Oh and hello Mayuko and all!
Avatar 12:25pm Mayuko:

@P-90 Singing along to that track for 8 min would give me short breath and vertigo which is only appropriate.
Avatar 12:27pm Mayuko:

@Dropof Do I really know if all of you here online are really human? Hard to tell these days. Possibly some of you are bots with excellent taste?
Avatar 12:27pm Mayuko:

Uncle M!!!!!!!!!! Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:28pm Mayuko:

Uncle M I know for sure he is a human.
  12:30pm P-90:

The paradox about bots online is that the most sophisticated ones that might convince someone that they are “real” are Russian-made. But their flaw is that they all have TERRIBLE taste.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm northguineahills:

Bayle to Hyman, perfect dish washing music!
  12:31pm Ike:

@Mayuko@12:17, even though I’m a copy editor, I don’t speak correct English 24 hours a day, or even 2.4 minutes a day, because I’m too tongue-tied and mush-mouthed. I only scribble the wordings good-ish 24 hours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Uncle Michael:

I passed my Turing test. I'd been vaccinated.
  12:33pm rbrt:

hard to tell, bots would definitely like this kind of music too
  12:33pm Robert Tables:

Oh and hello! Enjoying the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Rich in Washington:

Someone needs to invent a Voight-Kampf-like test to flush out bots.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Dropof Goldensun:

@Mayuko - There is a possibility we do have some bots listening but their taste is always debatable. As far as non human, I'm pretty sure wfmu transmissions reaching far out into space have drawn some serious attention to this planet. Just speculation of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Uncle Michael:

If I hosted a copy editors conference, the gift baskets would include red pencils and instructions for everyone to copy-edit ll of the hotel's signage, menus, amenities guides, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Uncle Michael:

Then we'd all play capture the flag throughout the premises...Chicago Elements v. A.P.
Avatar 12:42pm Mayuko:

@Ike I imagine being imperfect is kinda requirement for a copy editor otherwise you can't imagine what other imperfect humans are trying to say/write. Probably still more time for AI/bots to take over your job!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Dropof Goldensun:

For all we know, Voight and Kampff both could have been "skin jobs."
Avatar 12:44pm JosephB:

This sounds like rocks!
Avatar 12:45pm JosephB:

Ah, billiards I guess
Avatar 12:45pm Mayuko:

@Robert Tables yeah we don't even know if you're dog or anything!! Speaking of non-human listening in the space! Thanks you all for tuning in, inner and outer space!
  12:46pm rbrt:

Mayuko has no love for the robots today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Uncle Michael:

rbrt...or rbt?
Avatar 12:48pm Mayuko:

  12:48pm rbrt:

...that is the question Uncle Michael...
  12:49pm rbrt:

  12:49pm Ike:

@UM@12:37, ah ha ha, a competition like that is silly... because Chicago Manual would *obliterate* AP any time!!! LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm chresti:

If there's a coffee shop on Mars, I might go
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm northguineahills:

The moons Phobos and Deimos transiting the sun as taken from Mars on the rover Curiosity (not an eclipse, as the moons are large enough to totally block the sun): gizmodo.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm northguineahills:

(are not large enough to totally block the sun).
  1:00pm Ike:

Oh, you moved? Are you still in this area?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm chresti:

they look like rocks@ngh
  1:01pm mzzmz:

Larry's scott walker tribute was excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm coelacanth∅:

hey Mayuko, playverts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm northguineahills:

well, that's what they are, chresti! Gigantic rocks! (fits the theme).
Avatar 1:08pm Mayuko:

@Ike yah, just a bit towards south, getting away from crazy neighbors.
Avatar 1:09pm Mayuko:

Hi coelacanth∅, and mzzmz!! Thanks for tuning in!!
Avatar 1:12pm Sem:

Betcha Marran Gosov was an ace party guest.
  1:12pm P-90:

Hi coel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm coelacanth∅:

hello P-90!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Welcome back, Mayuko. I should be spring cleaning, but I'm playing with vertigo instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm fred:

Good afternoon Mayuko and listenerds
Avatar 1:17pm Mayuko:

Why Ken, my show is known to go well with house cleaning, dish washing, and furniture assembling. Now is the time!!!
Avatar 1:17pm Mayuko:

Greeetings my radio family fred! What show again were you at today?
Avatar 1:21pm JosephB:

@Mayuko Wasn't there talk weeks ago of a vacuum-themed show? That reminds be, I should really be washing the dishes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm fred:

I saw a Jal Tarang concert, an Indian percussion instrument made of porcelain bowls of different sizes arranged in a semi circle in front of the player. Tuning is done by adjusting the water in the bowls. Nice sound, and the guy was very skilled
Avatar 1:24pm Mayuko:

@JoeB oh yeah! though hard to find 2 hours amount of vacuum sounding music, haha. Someone must be able to make music all from vacuum cleaners... probably Matmos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm northguineahills:

Wow, new thighpaulsandra!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm fred:

What ngh said!
Avatar 1:25pm TDK60:

Hello. I figure my first trip to these vertigo heights.
Avatar 1:27pm Mayuko:

@fred that does sound really nice! I've only seen that type of thing with water in glass containers, not porcelain,,, must sound different.
Avatar 1:30pm JosephB:

@Mayuko Maybe you could send out a call for submissions like the rock compilation. "Music That Sucks" could be your next DJ premium!
Avatar 1:31pm Mayuko:

Thank you for tuning in, TDK60!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm fred:

Speaking of sound, I saw Suzanne Ciani last week, and the sound was really great. And yesterday I saw a piece by Eliane Radigue performed on a church pipe organ. Also, last week I saw a great Jandek concert, and the fun part is that I later saw him dance in the back of the venue during another set
Avatar 1:32pm Mayuko:

@Joe B Haha!!! That's genius! Maybe I'll just do that!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm northguineahills:

Off to run errands, thanks Mayuko!
Avatar 1:33pm Mayuko:

Thanks for listening ngh, have a great weekend!!
Avatar 1:34pm JosephB:

@fred Ciani is doing a free show at the Los Angeles Public Library today but I totally snoozed on the RSVP and it sold out :-(
  1:36pm Amelia:

beautiful afternoon music
Avatar 1:36pm Mayuko:

@fred You really are a man of LOVE for music!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm fred:

I saw Pierre Berthet perform a very nice piece for vacuum cleaner: www.pierre.berthet.be...
It wouldn't fit the "music that sucks" concept though, because he had reversed it so that it blew instead
Avatar 1:38pm Mayuko:

Hey Amelia, thanks for tuning in!!!
Avatar 1:39pm Mayuko:

@fred That needs to be a bonus track.
  1:40pm rbrt:

I think fred should have his own show on the stream
  1:41pm Robert Tables:

Those vacuum cleaners are wagging their tails!!!
Avatar 1:42pm Mayuko:

@rbrt He needs to change his name to Dave though.
Avatar 1:43pm Mayuko:

Speaking of Dave on the radio - stay tuned for Music For a Free World with Dave Sewelson starting at 2pm! Listen here wfmu.org...
Avatar 1:44pm Mayuko:

@Robert Tables That can be the compilation artwork image. Wow, I'm already pretty much done with my next year marathon premium.
  1:46pm Ike:

Hey all, any good art exhibits I MUST see this weekend?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Dropof Goldensun:

Mayuko, I'm still waiting for the portraits of the members of Japan!
  1:48pm rbrt:

I love this Orbit Aurora song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm fred:

@Ike: I heard there was a show at the Met featuring instruments
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Doug Schulkind:

Always loved this Tom Dissivelt number!
Avatar 1:49pm TDK60:

1962 huh? Were those organs? I think that may have been too early for Moogs.
  1:51pm rbrt:

I wasn't thinking execution by death chamber, but I still love it LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm coelacanth∅:

hahaha! oh you people and your scissors!
Avatar 1:55pm TDK60:

I was awkward at 13 too, for sure.
Avatar 1:56pm Sem:

So much good fun yet again today, Mayuko. Thanks, and see you next time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm fred:

Thanks Mayuko! I'll catch up with the archive later
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Mark Hurst:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Mayuko!
  1:59pm P-90:

Thanks, DJ Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Dropof Goldensun:

The Cure was a big part of my younger years too. I was a male in my 20's but I know what you mean. BTW, I'm still a male! haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Dropof Goldensun:

Great show! Thanks. Have a great week everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm chresti:

You reminded me of the song SOID by Buffalo Daughter @Mayuko
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm coelacanth∅:

the cure was huge for me, but before this era.
...and i always was attracted to the strange girls!
Avatar 2:00pm JosephB:

I think as long as there are teenagers there will always be people discovering The Cure. Thanks for another great show Mayuko!
Avatar 2:02pm Mayuko:

@Dropof Japan members have to be incorporated into the vacuum cleaner idea somehow!
Avatar 2:04pm Mayuko:

Hooray for The Cure and thanks everyone for listening! Looking forward to seeing you all again next week.

A band I was in a long time ago was ask to be part of a Cure tribute CD. We threw something together very quickly. I was never happy with our song but the CD over all wasn't bad.
It's called 100 Tears - A Tribute To The Cure on Cleopatra records
