Martinibomb:

Hah! Thanks Georgy, glad I got this mix from the always wonderful Katya. I think she made this back in 2011?

wish I knew what this track was? Pretty cool. I think everything in her mix was creative commons?
Avatar 4:31pm
Mr Fab:

Ah, maybe everything in this mix she posted in her OddioOverplay site?
  4:32pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab this is a special mix but it's culled from what she was posting at Oddio Overplay I would say
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

A column of yellow stars from me!
Avatar 4:43pm
Mr Fab:

8 bit?
  4:48pm

A bunch of random synth demos I'd found on youtube years ago that sounded pretty good to me
  4:49pm
Martinibomb:

I think this one might be mort garson tho.. it was mixed into my mix I'd saved lol

There's nothing-othing-othing wrong-ong-ong with a bit of echo-echo-echo ;-)
  5:01pm
Martinibomb:

You guys don't think it's too pretentious? I'm still figuring out my radio shtick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My partner just shouted from the couch: "Is that Genesis P-Orridge, I hear?" :-)
  5:02pm
Martinibomb:

Yeah! Shout out to Genesis! I hope he's doing better health wise.
Avatar 5:02pm
Mr Fab:

Naw, the echo n stuff is cool! I like DJs that have sense of presentation, a persona.
  5:03pm
Martinibomb:

Thanks for letting me experiment! I'll probably continue to push a round until I find something I'm really happy with
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

The echo vocals go really well with the synths. It's like you're DJing form a mountain top. It's really cool :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Going to do my usual and catch up with the second half tomorrow. Excellent show as always - thank you!!!! Huge hugs everyone :-)

Avatar 5:13pm
Mr Fab:

This is like a particularly wacko episode of "High Waisted Modernists"
  5:14pm
Martinibomb:

I actually feel like today is a GREAT example of what I'm aiming for here. I guess wacko episode of Hi-Waisted works! perfect
  5:17pm
Martinibomb:

Can't play Bruce Haack's Blowjob on WFMU's radio transmission except between 10pm & 6am. One of the perks of internet only.

Just rolling in post-Haack. Nice play there.

Martinibomb:

This is something I got of UBU I think? But didn't have a title on the digital file
Avatar 5:23pm
Mr Fab:

"Sae Harbour" all day long 'round here.

This sounds like something Ergo Phizmiz would do, maybe with People Like Us, but don't recall it from their albums together. really cool, tho
Avatar 5:24pm
Mr Fab:

"SAFE" harbor
  5:25pm
Martinibomb:

Maybe that's what it is? I was thinking it was some kind Inuit thing I'd found on UBU Web.. probably 10 years ago
Avatar 5:25pm
TDK60:

Cool, old Amon Düül II; those German hippies!
  5:26pm
Martinibomb:

It's pretty kick ass isn't it, Rich?!
Avatar 5:32pm
TDK60:

Eno singing for Paul M. (of Roxy Music) there, right?
Avatar 5:32pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, some of Eno's best nonsense lyrics
Avatar 5:32pm
Otis Fodder:

Eno on lead vocals, fits in nice with Eno's first 2 LPs.
  5:33pm
Martinibomb:

Yes! pretty cool track. I feel like I might have learned about this song from Otis.. like years and years ago
Avatar 5:34pm
Mr Fab:

I put together a comp for my old blog called "The Lost Eno Pop Album" of all those misc '70s Eno tracks. Was one of my most popular posts. really shoulda been an album.
Avatar 5:34pm
TDK60:

Gotta run Mr. Bomb. At least I got to the show finally. till then..
Avatar 5:34pm
Otis Fodder:

Maybe. Love ENO/Roxy and that general sound.

Oh. I must've missed that one, Mr. F!
  5:35pm
Martinibomb:

Thanks for joining in TDK! See you soon
Avatar 5:35pm

... but I have a hard tiime remembering much of anything anymore. Set aside trivial things like when I bought a bag of coffee beans once 15 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm
Rich in Washington:

of course I say that, but often later see comments I made a decade or less ago...
  5:36pm
Martinibomb:

@Otis I don't even try.. oh many I forgot my ATM number recently and totally can't remember it at all!
  5:36pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab I need to get that Lost Eno Pop album!!! Sounds like an awesome collection you made
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh. Like a circle: I googled that Eno post and it immediately took me to a WFMU twitter post about it.
Avatar 5:37pm
Otis Fodder:

Haaaa. At least once a year I get to the ATM and punch in the wrong number. Think about it for a moment and it comes back and success!
  5:38pm
Martinibomb:

I've not been able to remember my ATM number for 2 weeks now it's drivin' me nutz. Hah
Avatar 5:39pm
Mr Fab:

ha, will try and dig it out. yeah, got comments from other blogs, Julian Cope, Kurt Loder, and of course WFMU's twitter.
  5:39pm
Martinibomb:

At least up it for Sheena's Jungle Room listeners.. in the FB group?
Avatar 5:40pm
Otis Fodder:

I want to hear that comp toooooooo please. Throw that whole thing on the SJR stream (if it is not on already).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. Ninth Configuration. So weirdly soundbiteable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm
Rich in Washington:

I think I have a complete audio rip of that film somewhere, but never got around to dicing it up.
  5:41pm
Martinibomb:

I am the NINTH CONFIGURATION - good band name too!
  5:42pm
Martinibomb:

Remember when Cable TV was first starting up and people were super stoked to watch The Black Hole at home? hahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm
Rich in Washington:

That movie always reminded me of a Mashup of M*A*S*H and Catch 22 on bad drugs.
Avatar 5:43pm
Mr Fab:

Eno, Fripp, PsychicTV, am I in high school again? Damn, do I have any reports due tomorrow?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm
Rich in Washington:

9th Configuration I mean. Black Hole was 70s Disney on bad drugs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm
Rich in Washington:

Oo! Nice version! I've just got one I ripped off a live Devo DVD.
  5:45pm
Martinibomb:

Mash & Catch 22??? Man I wanna hear/see that. I'm reading Catch 22 right now as it happens
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
Rich in Washington:

It's based on a crazy book but I've never read it - it's called Twinkle, Twinkle, Killer Kane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm
Rich in Washington:

Theodore!
  5:47pm
Martinibomb:

SUCKING BLOOOD!
Avatar 5:48pm
Mr Fab:

and now Devo? I really am 17 years old again.

The latest iteration of Scooby Doo once featured a take-off on "War of the Gargantuas" complete with a girl singing "The Words Get Stuck in My Throat"
  5:49pm
Martinibomb:

I think we all must be the same age-ish Mr. Fab lol
Avatar 5:51pm
Mr Fab:

Other episodes of the new Scooby Doo featured Harlan Ellison, Lovecraft, Warhol, and Scooby singing with a VU+Nico tyoe band. needless to say, my daughter and i were watching it on somewhat different levels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm
Rich in Washington:

I didn't know there was a new Scooby Doo, other than those odious looking movies years ago.
  5:53pm
Martinibomb:

NO SHIT!! reallly? I can't imagine Harlan on an episode omfg!Met him a few times. one of my fave writers. Almost thrown out of a convention chatting with him about beastiality. lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm
Rich in Washington:

I vaguely remember there being these weird Bowie/Eno/Iggy references in Venture Bros.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm
Rich in Washington:

I miss making those movie/TV soundbite cassettes. Pre-sampler sampling. I think I digitized one of my 90s tapes recently.
Avatar 5:56pm
Mr Fab:

Yes, he voiced himself. The Scooby gang was reporting to him one episode for some reason. i have a funny story about meeting him too. (I guess everyone who met him probably has a story!)
  5:56pm
Martinibomb:

Same here! I made so many pause tapes growing up...
  5:56pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab he was a funny cool as shit dude! For sure!
Avatar 5:57pm
Otis Fodder:

I have 18 cassettes digitized from the 80s/90s of me sampling movies/tv, tape deck hooked to vhs. Transferred them over years ago to WAV files, should play a few. I called them SampTapes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm
Rich in Washington:

Pause tapes ruled! I remember thinking I'd invented that. I still have some, just haven't gotten around to digitizing them.
Avatar 5:58pm
Mr Fab:

if this is where you wanna take the show MB, go for it. This has been utter rad-ness.
Avatar 5:58pm
Otis Fodder:

Loved pause tapes for soundbytes. However, don't miss doing it. So much easier now. Ha.
  5:58pm
Martinibomb:

@Otis oh man I wanna hear that!!! I also did a bunch of 80/90s sampling in similar vein as a highschooler.. culminating in the "Summer Festival" performance in my small town. Hilarious playing back collage sample stuff to small town usa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm
Rich in Washington:

I did so many silly things with tape when I was a kid and had no idea until I was much older that those were actual techniques.
Avatar 5:59pm
Otis Fodder:

Will circle back with today's shows as I really want to hear Katya's Spot at the start of your show MB. Cheers!
  5:59pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab I just think this is a good example of what I'm aiming for.. except for my echo voice. But other than that it's what I *try* to mix
Avatar 5:59pm
Otis Fodder:

I will play some of the SampTape stuff on an upcoming FP. Made a note to do it in the next couple weeks.
  6:00pm
Martinibomb:

okay this is the end thanks for listening everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm
Rich in Washington:

I have ruined so many tape machines by either pausing/jerking them around or forcing them to rewind while playing, especially the really cheap models.
Avatar 6:00pm
Mr Fab:

Catch everyone for the live block of shows Friday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm
Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Martinibomb! Great show!
