Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm annie:

it's all so orchestrated...
Avatar 6:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Absolutely a Social Movement :
  6:21pm kevlicki:

Even the nytimes daily podcast talked about YouTubed role in radicalizing folks
  6:22pm Sam:

You know who else benefits. The gun manufacturers.
Avatar 6:23pm TDK60:

..it's not just the newer big tech corps. White supremacy has a long history in the European settler countries. And most of the Republican party uses white supremacist code.
  6:24pm Listener Robert:

If I'd been in charge and had to answer why criticism of Facebook was deleted from Facebook, I'd've answered, "Because we're not idiots! If you want to criticize us, don't expect to be able to use our own facilities to do so. Criticize anything else, but not the home team using the home team's field. Go somewhere else to criticize Facebook. Come back here to criticize THEM."
  6:25pm Johnzon:

yup. its gonna keep happening. it's not just tech tho... I believe there have been studies that show that the biggest factor correlated to violence is inequality. regulating big tech would be helpful but it would still be treating a symptom rather than the underlying disease(capitalism at least in it's current incarnation... or maybe feudalism is more accurate at this point. oligarchy... yea lets go with that.)
  6:25pm Neal Vega:

There was a whole thread on 8 Chan where the gunmen involved discussed in detail what they were going to do and the fact it didn't get caught is crazy
Avatar 6:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

So - a Beginner's Takeaway:
Tech Giants - Not Apolitical...
  6:27pm Listener Robert:

But how many other people discuss things they're "going to do" that never get done?
  6:29pm Neal Vega:

That's true. It just baffles my mind because it was all out there even the links to the live stream that they put out and when they planned to go live.
Avatar 6:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

People of Color are shot w/out evidence & w/ impunity
- & Organized White Supremacy is dogwhistle empowered by the President & the Republicans.
  6:29pm kevlicki:

Robert, like all the listeners that said they’d donate to WFMU and didn’t
  6:30pm Listener Robert:

Then all we need ever do to drive the police and everyone else nuts would be to post all over the place our "plans" to commit mayhem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Webhamster Henry:

Lay off the meat, dairy, sugar, alcohol.
-- WebHamster diet
Avatar 6:31pm Fredericks:

Is this a conspiracy we're talking about here?
  6:31pm Johnzon:

Neal, there are many whistleblowers in us intelligence/law enforcement who have pointed to a culture of intentional negligence pervasive in intelligence/law enforcement prior to 9-11. to mark's question of who profits? yes of course big tech profits but so does the military industrial intelligence complex. they don't want terrorism to stop... if they did they'd use more traditional law enforcement methods, detective work, work with banks etc. to cut off the terrorists funding... and of course use tech to find would be violent radicals earlier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm annie:

if it's white, leave it out of your diet
Avatar 6:32pm TDK60:

Robert: *Police* commit a lot of racist murder in the US.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Webhamster Henry:

Oh yeah and wheat!
Avatar 6:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Terence McKenna observed that Refined Sugar is a vastly worse & more broadly consequential drug than anything else. It started the Slave Trade.
  6:33pm melinda:

Sugar worsens inflammation of all kinds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm dale:

i was told that if you eat LOCAL honey, you're building up an immunity to local pollen allergies. i don't know if there's any proof....
  6:34pm P-90:

High fructose corn syrup is a HUGE offender
Avatar 6:34pm Fredericks:

Bagged organic spinach has carbohydrates?
  6:35pm Justin:

I’m drinking a beer right now. What about that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm annie:

it's pretty true dale... for me:i use the blood-type diet...then branch from there
  6:36pm Justin:

Update: drank a beer
Avatar 6:37pm Fredericks:

Now you're in the clear, Justin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm annie:

sorry, but anything that requires i use an APP or subscribe to a THING... ... nah
Avatar 6:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The Refinement is the Unnatural part.
It's an interesting analogy to Corporate Tech!
Something Corporations exploit in our Evolution. It's built in we want it - but the unending supply of isolated elements out of balance are not what our organism was built for or where we come from as a species...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Brian in UK:

Hello Mark. Interesting with Tom Watson, he has been making some comments that could be seen to undermine the leader Jeremy Corbyn. But being politics it is not overt. The Labour Party seems to thrive on backbiting and attention to procedural detail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Folsom:

Of course all that data from the apps is getting tracked and sold
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm annie:

exactly Folsom
Avatar 6:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

New Tech elected Obama - & enabled the 'Arab Spring' - & I presume the Yellow Vests now...
  6:40pm Listener Robert:

TDK60, one reason police can get away with that is by distracting us by a lot of false negative info about threats to us that they're supposedly addressing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Webhamster Henry:

Eat celery - it burns more calories by eating it than it provides!
  6:41pm P-90:

My watch can tell me how much I can eat. Hmm.
  6:42pm Listener Robert:

High fructose corn syrup is a huge anything only because its use is huge, mostly because of sugar tariffs. It's no worse than sugars generally.
  6:42pm Justin:

Fredericks; there’s only now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Brian in UK:

Favourite term. National Security. License to do whatever or nothing under the guise of protecting the people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm dale:

my wife wants one of those peletons - but two grand is a bit much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm annie:

if your brain says it's not good for you... why should a device have to corroborate that?? common sense is no good?
Avatar 6:43pm Fredericks:

Right Ho!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm annie:

grow up
  6:46pm P-90:

Listener Robert: as a biologist, physiologist and long-time student of human diet and nutrition, I can assert with confidence that the substance called high fructose corn syrup does NOT behave the same way as other sugars do in the body.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm annie:

ok....i'm just laughing now
Avatar 6:46pm TDK60:

I'm still too bread-oriented. (I am not talking about a pop group called Bread.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm dale:

baby imma want you.
  6:47pm P-90:

If only one could lose weight by listening to less Bread
  6:47pm kevlicki:

Today’s Daily podcast suggests big tech profits off of people’s attention to their platform. So YouTube suggesting more videos you’ll watch gives them More data and ad revenue.
When viewers watching marginal white-supremacist-conspiratorial content it suggest more of it, further radicalizing people.
Too bad viewers weren’t watching videos about caring and sharing...then we’d have more ...
  6:48pm Listener Robert:

Hey, P-90, I have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, and I say the differences between other dietary sugars and the invert sugar that is HFCS are minuscule.
  6:49pm kevlicki:

TDK60 I’m too bread and beer oriented...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Folsom:

Sorry if you say that it is easy for everyone to afford a >2000 stationary bike and pay 40/month forever, that is pretty naive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm annie:

i am one who believes that a food that is prepared with love and intention... is fine...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Webhamster Henry:

starch+saliva == sugar
Avatar 6:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Life is too short for White Bread.
As a general statement...
Beer they say is liquid bread. W/ hops. Vino Tinto !
  6:50pm kevlicki:

Dale-I hear that honey theory from beekeepers and wholistic practitioners frequently. But it should be local honey
  6:50pm P-90:

Not in their actual observed effects in the human body. Remember: biochemistry and biomedical science are too very different fields, that produce different sets of observations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Folsom:

and this coming from someone that bought an expensive bike
  6:50pm yes:

Losing weight with a plant based diet?
  6:50pm kevlicki:

“How can we can any bread?
When we haven’t got any bread!”
Avatar 6:50pm TDK60:

kevlicki: I need to eat more matzoh or hard crackers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm annie:

Blood-type diet.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Webhamster Henry:

Put lots of moror on that matzoh!
  6:52pm Johnzon:

I have a 100% organic fitness ap that makes me go for a walk every day... it's called a dog. if I don't walk it it chews up my shoes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm melinda:

Annie yeah, I've used an app for dietary choices but there were other alternatives (printing out info) and I ended up ditching the app. Sometimes when you have chronic health issues it isn't enough to just eat food prepared with love and intention, but I've still made radical changes for the better without using apps.
Avatar 6:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The local honey theory is like inoculation.
If you make the pollen part of you, you can't get allergic to it...
  6:52pm Listener Robert:

P-90, what do you have in humans that shows different effects of these sugars?
Avatar 6:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...not that I'm a Dr. & say if you are allergic to pollen you should quaff beepollen...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm annie:

i gotcha melinda!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Webhamster Henry:

BTW I wrote an app that helps you keep track of your friends food needs and preferences.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm annie:

WH... YEAH!!!
Avatar 6:55pm TDK60:

Are Zagnuts healthy? Probably not...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm dale:

we've had pizza made with a cauliflower crust. it's perfectly fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm melinda:

@Henry that's cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm ultradamno:

I'd rather be unhealthy than eat cauliflower.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm dale:

i grew up pouring karo syrup on my aunt jemima pancakes. no wonder i was a toad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Webhamster Henry:

Cauliflower is good with Thai peanut sauce!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm listener 126464:

Thanks Mark and guest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm annie:

yeah,this cauliflower thing.. meh..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Brian in UK:

A little bit of what you fancy does you good, in moderation.

Cauliflower whizzed up and microwaved for five minutes makes a good rice alternative.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Webhamster Henry:

I'm singing along, Mark!
  6:57pm yes:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm annie:

Avatar 6:58pm TDK60:

Gracias DJ Mark.
