Avatar 12:24am Jeff Conklin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am pacific standard simon:

Funny thing about the last day of the marathon -- it's the one day of the year that I don't have my TV on at all.
  12:24am syerahkay:

Ohmygod Brent getting synthy asffff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Dave in Vermont:

Avatar 12:25am Jeff Conklin:

whoa hey simon, been a while...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am Ken From Hyde Park:

Right after a marathon is a good time for a Dead smoothie.
Avatar 12:26am Jeff Conklin:

@syerakay: Gets it
  12:26am syerahkay:

This dude gets it
Avatar 12:29am Drunken Creep:

Hey Ken, hows everything in Hyde Park? I've been on the road for a while, moved across the country, and I certainly miss being within FM broadcast range of the station
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am Granny Spicy Tuna:

:::just floating through:::
  12:33am alivehead:

Did they breed tuna that has a kick to it?
Avatar 12:33am Jeff Conklin:

@Ken: My post-marathon leadoff track seemed to be popular with the 40 people milling about the station
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am Granny Spacy Tuna:

:::it's possible:::
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am pacific standard simon:

What can I say, Jeff? You had a beautiful lead-in tonight. I tend to listen to WFMU at work these days. Baseball at home.
  12:35am alivehead:

one for the books
  12:37am Chris H:

  12:38am alivehead:

Clay Pigeon had a tasteful guitar solo tonight on "White Room"
Avatar 12:39am Adamsworth:

Dang I missed the Dead tonight but I am glad I got to hear this, it sounds like they're doing Twin Infinitives!

Avatar 12:41am Jeff Conklin:

@Adams: Youll be VERY stoked on it
  12:43am Santos L Halper:

This is fab. New Peoples?
Avatar 12:45am Jeff Conklin:

Before this Jon Camp was indeed new Peoples...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am Franco Twinkie:

Tonight I am tripping on a double dose of cold and flu gel caps with a shot cough medicine neat. The rolling tides are in my stomach.
Avatar 12:47am Jeff Conklin:

@Franco: Yikes
Avatar 12:50am Jeff Conklin:

Think all the curious folks leftover from the finale have tuned out? Is it safe yet?
  12:51am P-90:

Hi JC. Nice basking in the afterglow.
  12:51am Agent Peter:

Franco - Try doing some lines of No Doz to balance it out...
  12:51am Santos L Halper:

So Jeff, when ya gonna gather the kindred spirits for some Hoof n Mouth Dead? You know jesse j, Ira the K and UM are down. Scott Wms, Irwin, Mandl...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Ken From Hyde Park:

@DC - It's pretty quiet up here these days. Waiting for warm weather to arrive and watch the dandelions start popping up. The snow is about melted.
  12:53am Santos L Halper:

And that Camp was lovely
Avatar 12:53am Jeff Conklin:

@Santos: The idea has been tossed at me the last couple years, I think with my skill set, the best I can do for the station is prepare a great show every week :)
  12:56am Santos L Halper:

Right on. Keep doin your thing man, we love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am Franco Twinkie:

Okay Jeff, If you had to pick one Dead song to sing for the marathon what would it be? Seriously.
Avatar 12:58am Jeff Conklin:

If a gun was pointed at my head and there was a helicopter to whisk me to JC from BK for band practice?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Franco Twinkie:

Yeah, kinda like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am fleep:

Whatever it takes

  1:01am Martha:

Nice palate cleanser - thanks!
  1:05am Marc15:

How close to the goal?
  1:05am alivehead:

oh man at this rate I will never get the clothes from the dryer :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am Dave in Vermont:

admittedly I rarely listen live, and occasionally on archives and always think "I should listen to this more"
Avatar 1:06am Adamsworth:

Ooh, I see there's a drug check in. I'm took a non-narcotic muscle relaxer my friend gave me because I have a knot in my neck. It doesn't get you high or anything though, ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am Dave in Vermont:

Now this is the era when I might have been at a show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am pacific standard simon:

I have a whole list of stuff I might do if I were enlisted to sing live karaoke, but the main one would be "Dancing With Myself". No shit.
Avatar 1:09am gregorianpants:

"Eyes" best Dead song ever imo. Don't think there's a bad version of it.
Avatar 1:10am Adamsworth:

When I do karaoke my go-to's are I'm No Angel by Gregg Allman, Pina Colada song, and if I'm wasted This Woman's Work by Kate Bush/Maxwell, even though I can only hit like 1.3 of the like 5 octaves in that song, ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am pacific standard simon:

@gregorianpants -- that's what bothers me about Pandora -- they agree with you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am Santos L. Halper:

@Dave: me too, but not this particular one...nice tho.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am Dave in Vermont:

honestly, can't remember which shows I got into but pretty sure I was on this tour
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am pacific standard simon:

I was walking past my local karaoke bar after getting off work, and two guys were singing the pina colada song off key of each other -- OMG, it was so awful...
  1:30am Bob O:

I was at this Richfield, OH show. First Vince Welnick show with the band...
Avatar 1:32am Jeff Conklin:

@Bob O: You're on it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am pacific standard simon:

I don't know why no body never uses the Dead as a lead in to Hawkwind. Or maybe vice versa. Seems like a natural to me.
Avatar 1:37am Jeff Conklin:

@PSS: Agreed
Avatar 1:40am Jennifer_PNW:

Hey everyone, just checking in. Nice to hear Terrapin tonight :)
Avatar 1:41am Jeff Conklin:

Hey, Jennifer!
  1:51am P-90:

Primo Dead set.
Avatar 1:59am Adamsworth:

That was a really great Dead set I'm glad I didn't miss it after all!
Avatar 1:59am gregorianpants:

This was an AUD???
Avatar 2:00am Adamsworth:

no I think he said this one was a soundboard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01am pacific standard simon:

Picturing Edward Gorey cats carrying around Grateful Dead CDs in their teeth.
Avatar 2:02am Jeff Conklin:

@Gregorian: No, but I have the AUD in my car
Avatar 2:03am Jeff Conklin:

That may be the firs 90's GD every one of you liked...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08am pacific standard simon:

If you see Uncle Michael wandering around there, give him my regards.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am Michael 98145:

Glad to see the marathon did well!

{however, RIP Dick Dale ... www.washingtonpost.com... }
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am pacific standard simon:

I have certain reservations regarding Dick Dale, hope they are not true. He was acquitted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37am pacific standard simon:

Oh, and he was NOT the composer of "Miselou", as the headline states.
Avatar 2:37am Jeff Conklin:

Don't know anything about him other than I never willingly listened to his music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50am pacific standard simon:

Dick Dale's recording of "Miserlou", a traditional Armenian tune, became an instant surf-rock hit, and was recorded by pretty much everybody else. Great stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am pacific standard simon:

He was featured in the surf-rock movies of the '60s.
Avatar 2:57am Jeff Conklin:

Ha, yes, i know quite well who he is/was and the music he made. Jimi made sure I didn't have to hear it....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am pacific standard simon:

I don't know why anybody would tune out, but I drank the Kool-Aid long ago.
  2:59am Bob O:

I won Tix from FMU to see Dick Dale at Maxwells and he blew the fuckin' roof off that joint.
  3:08am Bob O:

Very enjoyable show tonight, Jeff! Thanks!
Avatar 6:37pm jaywbabcock:

Jeff, wanted to let you know that a crucial breakthrough just happened here: actual head-bobbing grooving along on a Dead song. "Shakedown Street"! Nice! Thank you sir!
