Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:02pm Jan Turkenburg:

Wow! Deodato eat your heart out! Lol!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:03pm Otis Fodder:

Funny little 45 I just picked up. Had not heard this version until a week ago.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:04pm Mr Fab:

thanks to Tim S from GA, who pledged to Flange and Frigate, and just got in under the wire! Want one of the remaining prizes, good sir?
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:04pm Martinibomb:

I've always thought it was funny that Polkas sound similar to Ranchera music. There's got to be a connection but I've never researched it.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:06pm Mr Fab:

Dutch/German settlers moved to the border area, brought their polkas with 'em and, Mexicans picked up on it.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:06pm Martinibomb:

Really? We can do live shows starting this summer?
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:07pm Martinibomb:

@Fab I've always figured that's what happened but I never looked into it
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:07pm Otis Fodder:

There is word that it will happen in time, but not date set yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:09pm Webhamster Henry:

I read the ad on the playlist page said "How to plan for an unplanned pregnancy"
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:09pm Otis Fodder:

@Henry - haaaaa!
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:09pm Martinibomb:

We're just touching 60degrees here in Portland today.. can kinda open the window
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:10pm Otis Fodder:

I woke up and I worked!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:10pm Webhamster Henry:

It's 73F in Kingston NY.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:11pm Martinibomb:

whaaa 73!! It's like summer already
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:11pm Otis Fodder:

and Martin Mull's song was from '73!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:12pm Webhamster Henry:

My kids love the move CLUE very very much.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:13pm Martinibomb:

And i was born in 73!! It's all lining up now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:14pm Rich in Washington:

Breakfast accomplished. Sitting down to stuff my face.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:15pm Mr Fab:

hooooly carp, BIG thanks to Skip from NC for a big bad-ass pledge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:15pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks Skip!! Right on!!
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:18pm Mr Fab:

Skip (or anyone pledging more than $20 for the duration of this show) can get, for starters:
- the New Surfsiders "Smile medley/Kokomo" )hilarious Beach Boys piss-take)
- Lee hazelwood!! CD
- "Sensacional Soul vol three - 2CDs
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:29pm Mr Fab:

did not know that France Gall, that was cool. Get on Der Computer, gang, LAST DAY of the Sheena's marathon! Last chance to grab those groovy prizes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:43pm Rich in Washington:

I just put color-coded fader thingys on my mixer. You people are in for a treat later today.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:47pm Martinibomb:

Color coded? How many channels is your mixer?
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:53pm Martinibomb:

I just stick with 4 channel mixer because otherwise my brain wants to self-detonate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:54pm Otis Fodder:

2-channel DJ mixer here for turntables. 8 channel mixboard that tape deck, CD and computer for digital files run through + mics and fx processor on the send/return.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 3:57pm Martinibomb:

I have an 8ch mixer for music stuff actually it works with my ipad so I'll have traktor on that and then run 2 AUX out channels to my DJ mixer plus DJ mixer has Mic channels too.. As far as DJn it's easier for me to just focus on that 4channel beyond that I loose track
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 3:59pm Otis Fodder:

I keep it pretty simple here. Only FX is on my mic, just a tiny reverb. Otherwise, just up and downs for TTs, CD, Tape, Computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:02pm Rich in Washington:

It's five stereo strips and two balanced single channels (mics). It's silly. The colored fader bits came from AliExpress and took a super long time to get here, so you can see why I'm so excited. See?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:03pm Jan Turkenburg:

aaahhhh, this is soothing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:04pm Rich in Washington:

It's a long discontinued DJ club type mixer that is almost for all practical purposes a mini radio station type console.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:04pm Mr Fab:

Thank you Joe S from North Carolina!! Wanna prize? Apart from the above listed, there's also:
- Norton/Kicks pack: A book, CD, vinyl, tote bag, t-shirt...Damn, wish I could get one!
- "Honeybeat: Groovy '60s Girl Pop" CD

$20 pledge gets one!

- "Hipshakers vol4 Bossa nova and Grits" CD
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:07pm melinda:

Well I suppose I could not pass up that Norton pack now could I
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:08pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:09pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks, joe! You rock!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:10pm joe:

I'm a long time listener to the station but have only recently been able to enjoy the delights of the Jungle Room and I can say I wll be spending ALOT of time here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:10pm Jan Turkenburg:

Thank you Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:11pm Otis Fodder:

Ahh, thanks Joe. You entered chat at the perfect 'Jungle' room time, small little Exotica set. :)
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:15pm Mr Fab:

Well, since we haven't heard if Skip wants anything, you got it, Joe. I'm jealous! And glad to hear you've been hangin in the Jungle Room so much
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:17pm joe:

Woo Hoo!!!!
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:21pm Mr Fab:

Still available for a $20 or more pledge: an album by the mighty mighty Lee Hazelwood, described by an Amazon reviewer thusly: " its mostly pure sixties cheese. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it, indeed some songs like Jose and The Night are so bad that they are good! Those who were young adults in the mid-sixties will find In Our Time is an excellent commentary on those times. After Six evokes the "lounge generation", while Suzi Jane Is Back In Town is just plain weird. My favorites are The Old Man and His Guitar and I Am A Part, both of which showcase Hazlewood's budding songwriting skills."
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:24pm Mr Fab:

Thanks to Joseph B from the UK for the pledge!!
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:27pm Mr Fab:

Would you like a prize, Joseph? Also available: medley/Kokomo" vinyl 45 (hilarious Beach Boys piss-take)
- "Sensacional Soul vol three - 2CDs
- People Like Us "The Mirror" CD (a WFMU legend, fantastic very music sound-collages)
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:28pm Domenic:

Just love the french pop. But they don't have any of this in Montreal..
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:28pm Mr Fab:

or maybe you're feeling folky?
- Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell
- 1970s Algerian Folk & Pop
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:29pm Otis Fodder:

@Domenic - So much in Montreal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:29pm joe:

If you care about my two cents at all. The Sensacional Soul is a great disc that I have owned fro a bit and love. The People Like us Disc is AMAZING I got to listen to it while I was up in Jersey City visiting this past week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:30pm Otis Fodder:

@Joe - For sure, those Sen Soul comps are amazing! Love that PLU album too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:30pm koren:

Hey, Joseph here. The New Surfsiders 45 sounds a treat. Much love to the jungle room.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:30pm Mr Fab:

thanks, Joe! Am very familiar with PLU, but haven't checked out the 'Sensacional Soul." But it l;ooks, well, sensacional
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:31pm melinda:

This is my first time listening to this show, I will have to listen more in the future. I like all of the Jungle Room shows I've heard so far, exciting new stream!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:32pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks Melinda and welcome.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:32pm Mr Fab:

You got it koren! the New Surfsiders are just nuts, love 'em.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:33pm Domenic:

@melinda. It is!
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:34pm Mr Fab:

Hey Melinda!

BIG ol' thanks to Howard in San Fran!! Very generous sir, take a prize if you like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:35pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Howard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:36pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks Howard & Joseph/koren + other pledges previously thanked. Go marathon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:40pm Webhamster Henry:

This version of Chanson de Jumelles sounds like it was recorded on a cruise ship deck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:41pm Otis Fodder:

Wonderful fun cover. Yea, love the wide open ballroom effect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:41pm joe:

I only started eating Brussel Sprouts last year. I'm 44
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:47pm Otis Fodder:

I didn't like Asparagus (I know, I know) until 4 or so years ago. It was always cooked mushy before and just not right. Once I had it cooked real good, well, now I love 'em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:48pm melinda:

I love it too. I don't remember the whole song but the "onions, onions, la la la" chorus was embedded in my memory somehow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:50pm Webhamster Henry:

Frank's Trilogy "The Future" is a Jungle Room no-brainer.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 4:52pm Mr Fab:

There are indeed "Future" excerpts in the Jungle Room stream, Henry!

I bought "Watertown," played it once, made no impression on me and don't think I ever played it again. i guess it did not swing. So would love you to try to sell me on it Otis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 4:53pm Otis Fodder:

@Fab - Let the selling commence! www.watertownology.com

YOU!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 5:32pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 5:33pm Mr Fab:

Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 5:45pm Tim in TN:

On my bus ride into work this morning, I was subjected to such awful morning drive talk radio. (It's everywhere, I know.) I can't express how thankful I am for WFMU and Sheena's Jungle Room.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 5:45pm Martinibomb:

@Tim yeah that typical unfunny morning dj crew is.. something I find super annoying. Not sure how middle american can listen to that
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 5:48pm Martinibomb:

Okay I gotta drive to Vancouver... see you guys later
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 5:49pm Mr Fab:

I know what you mean, Tim. i take public transportation, and fantasize about carrying a big boombox blasting, like yodel music or something back at all the stuff I'm subjected to.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 5:49pm Don-O:

Good luck out there M.Bomb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 5:51pm Rich in Washington:

I once made a mastercut tape of all the chuckling and guffawing from one of our local 'morning zoo' type morning shows over the course of several months. It was like 20 minutes of incessant phony studio laughter. I would play it at work and no one would notice immediately but before long, people stopped listening to morning type shows.
Avatar Fri. 3/15/19 5:53pm Don-O:

Thank YOU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/15/19 5:54pm Rich in Washington:
