Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Jan Turkenburg:

It's got plenty of useful fungus on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey, lovelies! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Nooooooooooooooooooo ... I've just eaten! ;-)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Linda Lee:

Avatar 3:03pm Martinibomb:

Inthink I sampled this mansfield track ... made something with it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm happy that we can all make YOU happy :-) Welcome aboard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Linda Lee:

off to get something done now, but the ears are here. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Loads of Mansfield for you today MB :-)
Avatar 3:04pm Mr Fab:

Hi all. For the first time, Sheena's Jungle Room is participating in the Marathon so if you appreciate how we give you not only the world's worst records, but the world's best cheezy soundtrack library music, click on that box up there that says "Pledge now." And if you pledge enough, you - yes, YOU! - can get Georgy's prize CD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Linda Lee:

thanks much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My extra special, lemon-scented, chocolate-coated CD :-) Ok, maybe some of those things aren't true but the CD is awesome ;-)
Avatar 3:06pm Martinibomb:

I think I played a track today he arranged for another artist
Avatar 3:06pm worldsworstrecords:

The family is expanding!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Linda Lee:

as it should.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Jan Turkenburg:

yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

KPM - not just groovy 70s ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Jan Turkenburg:

I know! I know!
Avatar 3:08pm Martinibomb:

I thin mansfield is my fave of the kpm stable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Jan Turkenburg:

piles and piles and piles...
Avatar 3:09pm Mr Fab:

Man, i miss Douglas Adams. He left us way too soon...
Avatar 3:09pm Martinibomb:

I second that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That was such a shock when he passed. :-( He was best friends with Mike Nesmith which I didn't find out until about a year later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Jan Turkenburg:

me too
Avatar 3:11pm Martinibomb:

I just watched Shada again last night
  3:13pm Rich in Lunchroomland:

I have to say again, this is one of the coolest and most novel ways to experience library music. I don't have a ton of it, but find listening to lots of it dry in one go is challenging for me. it's akin to listening to a soundtrack to a film you've never seen, which is fun at times, I suppose.
But this show is always fun.
Avatar 3:13pm worldsworstrecords:

Oh, this rings a bell..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Gosh!!! Thank you :-D You've made me blush :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter said this sounds like every science video they ever had to watch at school!
  3:15pm Richmanuallyhavingtoreenterhisusernamewhileusingt:

The radio version is my very favorite medium for HGTTG.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's so evocative. I *LOVE* radio plays :-)
Avatar 3:18pm Martinibomb:

Yeah that radio play and asimovs foundation are my two fave radio dramas love all the synths sound design etc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

While using what??? What does the T stand for??? lol.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You get a short story done as a radio play on my Modernists premium CD if you pledge :-)
Avatar 3:19pm Mr Fab:

The somewhat crappy tv adaption was my first exposure, but hey, it was good enough to send me to the books.
Avatar 3:20pm Martinibomb:

Yeah that and the narnia tv series
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Zaphod's second head was not the BBC's finest hour it has to be said ...
  3:21pm RiW:

I discovered HGTTG and Ken Nordine's Word Jazz around the same time. Our local PBS affiliate OPB ran them sometime in the early 80s, I think back-to-back, if I'm not mistaken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

WOW!!! That must have been a hell of an introduction! How fantastic is that? :-)
  3:23pm RiW:

the TV adaptation was fun. The guy they cast as Ford Prefect was a bit off, but I quite enjoyed it as well.
Avatar 3:23pm Mr Fab:

Seeing his Dr Who episodes, it's apparent that Adams was using the Doctor as a "Hitchhikers" warm-up. Even if he didn't know it at the time. Unless I'm reading into it, but seems like there are hints to come all over those episodes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I met him at the Barbican about 15 years ago :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ford Prefect not Douglas Adams
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Otis Fodder:

Hello Georgy! Lunchtime with your show here, yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey Otis! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Linda Lee:

now this i love. put a strong beat behind those sounds & i'm on the moon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I think I might be one ahead ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

:-)
Avatar 3:30pm Martinibomb:

Ya know for all the low budget fx the bbc used for 70s/80s I still love that stuff more than many of the shows they make today. Old dr who is waaay better than the last 10years my humble opinion
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Linda Lee:

is it just about an analogue look & sound, Martinibomb? hopefully not just nostalgia, but something about quality..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yeah .. I can't get into the new Dr Who.
Avatar 3:32pm Martinibomb:

I think its the writing and i do lve old bbc sound design
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Linda Lee:

the writing! cool!
Avatar 3:33pm Martinibomb:

Nigel kneale was one of the best tv writers ever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Linda Lee:

personally, the farther we move from analogue media production the more i love analogue media production. (i'm 58 & allowed.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ah! Nigel Kneale! Beasts! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Linda Lee:

but writing is another thing..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Rich in Washington:

I think older BBC things were just so creative, maybe due to limited budgets and resources. The Radiophonics Workshop is a really good example. Ironically, technological advances such as cheaper synthesizers was sort of their downfall. They no longer needed a staff or engineers and creative spring twangers and tape wranglers.
Avatar 3:35pm Martinibomb:

Yeah! Beasts wow that series blew my mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Some of the stuff that the Radiophonic Workshop produced is nothing short of genius :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Linda Lee:

gosh, that's depressing. abandoned craft, iow
Avatar 3:35pm Mr Fab:

My wife the David Tennet fan would take extreme issues with that, M-Bomb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Rich in Washington:

I remember running across a site dedicated to the music used the the BBC radio version of HG. I can't find it now.
Avatar 3:36pm Martinibomb:

Lol the ladies love tennet and id say hes the best of the new Whos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The day I discovered that it's The Eagles still ranks as one of the top mind-blows ever :-)
Avatar 3:37pm Martinibomb:

I like him in the Fright Night remake
Avatar 3:38pm Martinibomb:

I lked that show where he plays a radio djmin an insane asylum
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I had a "Cocktail" out of a bucket at a party when I was a student that ranked with the Pan galactic gargle blaster :-S
Avatar 3:39pm Mr Fab:

Exactly, GG. Like, "How can it be the Eagles, I actually like it..?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Linda Lee:

brilliant sounds, GG!. just brilliant. having a very hard time getting to work. :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ha! I forgot!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Work is over-rated ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

KLF vibes anyone? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Jan Turkenburg:

:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Linda Lee:

tell me about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Rich in Washington:

The Tennent era at least got my wife into Dr. Who, so we'd binge it together. Even the newest season, which neither of us are particularly keen on, but it's something to watch.
Avatar 3:40pm Katya Oddio:

Hey there, Georgy and gang! We are both at home today with company enjoying the show. Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yay!! Hello! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Katya!
Avatar 3:41pm Martinibomb:

hiya Katya
Avatar 3:43pm Mr Fab:

I keep thinking I'm listening to "Variations on the 'Midnight Express' Soundtrack"!
Avatar 3:44pm Katya Oddio:

Hi Jan and Martinibomb! We were all talking about your region this morning, MB, so you were on our minds. Loving this show so much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oh yes!! Was that Moroder?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm so glad everyone's enjoying this :-)
Avatar 3:45pm Mr Fab:

yep,the great Giorgio sounds like he was pretty influential on this crew.
Avatar 3:45pm Martinibomb:

Oh because of the snow? Still thinking of moving here?
Avatar 3:45pm Katya Oddio:

GG wrote, "The day I discovered that it's The Eagles still ranks as one of the top mind-blows ever :-)" I can remember the day we dropped the needle on it and had the wait-what moment, laughing, shaking our heads. I love you music folks for all the shared experiences like that. OXO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is our tribe :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Linda Lee:

how nice! :-)
Avatar 3:48pm Katya Oddio:

MB- Yes, actually. We had snow here in the desert this weekend, too, heavy and bringing down trees. Beautiful.
Avatar 3:48pm Katya Oddio:

GG- Indeed, darhlink, indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Linda Lee:

boogie strut baby!! brilliant! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Note - Boogie Strut "A", people. Not the inferior "B". lol
Avatar 3:50pm Martinibomb:

yeah I'm glad I don't live in the sticks anymore with snow bringing stuff down. not sure how rich does it up on the mountain. city livin is so much easier
Avatar 3:50pm Katya Oddio:

Ah, yes, of course. One does prefer A, doesn't one. LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Linda Lee:

but this letter madness!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Blimey, this has gone quick!
Avatar 3:52pm Katya Oddio:

Right, LL? Think it is because of the client or project or something? Otherwise, why not make a new name?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I think it's literally - "Give us 5 pieces of music on a technology theme. Driving beat. Some synths. But 5 slightly different tempos." :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Linda Lee:

unless we're presenting the client choices for a specific purpose, like old fashioned chinese restaurant menus
Avatar 3:53pm Mr Fab:

hi Katya! In production library music, they often have the same track in varying lengths, hence the 'A' 'B" etc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Linda Lee:

right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've got some where ypu have 15 different tracks all in a sequence from A ro whatever and they're all about 20 seconds long :-)
Avatar 3:55pm Katya Oddio:

LOL LL and cheers Fab. GG, glad we finally logged in and got to give you love for yet another fantastic HWM. Well done, Georgina Ragazzi baby! We love you. e will keep the stream until lunch, MB, so sending love your way, too! Love to all! Over and out, you wonderful tribe I adore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Jan Turkenburg:

sometimes the instrumentations are different too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Otis Fodder:

Variations A and B have become proven business models within the offices of Chez Fodder this afternoon.
Avatar 3:55pm dale:

hello. feel like i'm watching the brit series ufo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Linda Lee:

i'm up in the catskills for about 20 years full time now, Martinibomb. that's a lot of rough wintering. getting set to come down now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Linda Lee:

I'm almost done here so please stick around for Martinibomb and Medium Cool :-)
Avatar 3:57pm Martinibomb:

oh yeah catskills probably get it worse than here.
Avatar 3:57pm dale:

hi linda. martinibomb - 19 years in the city wasn't really that easy. we pick our poison.
Avatar 3:58pm Martinibomb:

I love that UFO theme song! Organ music instead of a synth for a sci-fi show! how cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Linda Lee:

where are you?
Avatar 3:58pm Mr Fab:

Lovin' cheezy soundtrack library music (or all the other weird and wonderful offerings here in the Jungle Room)? Why, then click on that box up there that says "Pledge now." And if you pledge enough, you - yes, YOU! - can get Georgy's prize CD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Linda Lee:
