Artist Track Album Comments New
You would not believe the hoops I've been jumping through in order to be prepared for this wedding in France next week. (What an asshole sentence to start with. I sound like one of those pricks from the 90s with a job title like "experience architect" who spends half their time complaining about all the traveling they're forced to do.)
But I'm under a lot of pressure to perform here -- my best friend is getting married, I'm the best man at the wedding, and on top of being so honored to attend this event, I'm glad that his act of matrimony is kicking my ass into gear to take a proper vacation, which is something I've not done in years.
Through all the madness of my preparation (booking flights, buying a new monkeysuit, and remembering all those critical French vocab words from college), I'm also catching a whif of the mystique that only traveling alone can deliver. I haven't been overseas in almost five years, and the part of France I'm going to is all new to me, so I'm plenty excited about all of this. I'm also utterly floored that I'm going to get to see another good friend who lives over there now, whom I've not seen in far too long. I promise to come back with stories, and maybe a couple of pictures.
Anyhow, I've been so preoccupied with travel hooey, this show ended up being totally manic, despite the fact that I purposefully made the first set as sleepy as possible. Apologies to anyone currently taking heart medicine, but thank you to everyone who emailed and called. Douglas fills in for me next Tuesday morning, and I'll see you all on the 19th. Vive le Rock!

Room 41  Shake   7"
Dwarves  There Better be Women   Come Clean  I can't qualify this, though I feel the need to. I have always been fascinated by the Dwarves and they always maintain some sense of that nebulous untouchable-genius quality in even their dumbest song. (Witness this track.) If nothing else, they are a greatly undersung national treasure.
Mucho Muchacho  Malo Muchacho   Sonar 2xCD  compilation  *
Lloyd Brevett  Fugitive   African Roots

Neurosis  A Chronology for Survival   Souls at Zero
Monster Magnet  Negasonic Teenage Warhead   Dopes to Infinity  Seriously. The problem with most heavy metal is that you can't dance to it. If every Nu Metal single was as great as this song was back when it was a minor hit, I would buy more mainstream rock records. Also, have you ever really paid attention to this song's lyrics?
