Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:02pm Mr Fab:

Otis, my man!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:02pm spacebrother:

I use to do this all the time when I was a kid. Probably broke a lot of turntables.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:03pm Martinibomb:

everytime I hear your opening otis I kick myself for not getting around to making a medium cool opening yet... only so much time in the day.. It's coming tho
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mr Fab - I, state your name ... ;-) -
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:03pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, all my show IDs are from 15+ years ago. Need to make some new ones one day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:04pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm not gonna manage a remix for you MB or a slot for Otis either. Maybe next time tho. In fact, definitely next time :-)
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:05pm spacebrother:

I love the "Only In America" CDs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:06pm Krys O.:

You should solicit IDs from your audience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Come Ray and Come Charles!!! I love this track!!!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:07pm Mr Fab:

Thanks for heppin me to the Something Weird Greatest Hits album last week, Otis. I Amazon-ed that sucker with a quickness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:07pm Otis Fodder:

I should, thanks Krys. I just added that note on a sticky on the desktop. Merci!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

In-Flight Entertainment for this track? If memory serves .. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:08pm Otis Fodder:

Woah, yes! Fab, that Something Weird 2-LP on Modern Harmonic is one of my fav new releases. The liners are great too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:09pm Otis Fodder:

@Georgy - was this comped? Cool. Love this album. The one Legrand LP that never leaves the shelf. 100% Killer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:10pm Otis Fodder:

This Legrand - Great for cooking to!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:10pm Rich in Washington:

I keep meaning to get that SW comp. So many records out there, so little cash. It's mindboggling sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:11pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It was indeed :-)
And Keith Mansfield, eh? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:11pm Otis Fodder:

After Keith M, I dedicate the next group to you all. It is pretty much Sheena's Jungle Room House Band.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:12pm Martinibomb:

@Krys o Let's do it! Record a "you're listening to sheena's jungle room on wfmu." and I'll play it on my show for sure.. maybe we can put an archive of stuff like that together? I can organize that if ya'll want that's what I do at FreeformPortland
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:12pm Rich in Washington:

I didn't know until I started listening to this stream that The Ray Charles Singers were unconnected with Ray Charles the singer. I just assumed his backing group became a seller as a result of his fame.
  Fri. 2/15/19 3:12pm Laura L:

It's FRIDAY! Bon jour, Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:12pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That sounds like a certain Mr hawkshaw on the keys there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:12pm Otis Fodder:

That is a 'fab' idea. IDs we all can play on shows. Family ID stylin'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:13pm Otis Fodder:

Hi LL!!!! It's a 'blast' to see you here! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:13pm Rich in Washington:

Oh! I'll do a bunch! I love making promos. I did a bunch for my KBOO show recently. Did a bunch for HiLo Radio right before I bailed. HA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yes!!! Totally!! We should definitely do that! :-)M
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:14pm spacebrother:

Just ordered the CD. Thanks!!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:14pm spacebrother:

I've been remiss about the Bonzos on my show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:14pm Jan Turkenburg:

I've had this idea for a Sheena ID in my head for a while now, shall record it asap!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

BONZOS!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:15pm Otis Fodder:

@spacebrother - I know you adore this LP, I remember when you were over at my place last summer drinking beers!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:15pm Martinibomb:

I'll put up a space for folks to upload files to on the Sheena's Jungle Room Face Book group today
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:15pm Jan Turkenburg:

And now I'm going to put this show on my best headphones and lay about in my laziest chair :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yes please MB :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:16pm Otis Fodder:

@MB - I will do one too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:16pm chresti:

Hello Otis and house of friendly persuaders!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:17pm Otis Fodder:

Hi chresti, welcome back!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:18pm spacebrother:

@Otis - I adore all Bonzos, but especially this one, yes. To me, it's the Sgt. Peppers or more properly the Revolver of the Bonzo Dog Band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:18pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

splashing in! howdy, all!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:18pm spacebrother:

And your place is amazeballs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:18pm Rich in Washington:

GOD. I love this Jeff Wayne LP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:18pm Rich in Washington:

Wonderland is such a craptacular label!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:18pm Jan Turkenburg:

and it's got a queer flute!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:19pm Rich in Washington:

Granny Spicy Tuna! Howdy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I had to get a replacement bus into Bristol about ten years ago from Cardiff and it stopped briefly in Keynsham :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:19pm Otis Fodder:

Is this the same Jeff Wayne who did War of the Worlds? I still am not sure, but I believe so, yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:20pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Howdy, hey, Rich in Washington. Reporting from Lopez Island, today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:20pm Otis Fodder:

Granny Spicy Tuna, back with the funky dancing GIF!!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:21pm spacebrother:

@ DJ GeorgyGirl: A definite future pilgrimage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@spacebrother You should! Bristol and Bath are lovely places :-)
  Fri. 2/15/19 3:22pm Domenic:

Brilliant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:23pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Yeah, Otis, gotta dance!!!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:23pm spacebrother:

and Bristol is a funny rhyming slang place.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:23pm Mr Fab:

This "Tarzan" is hysterical
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:23pm Jan Turkenburg:

I just realized I might have offended somebody with "queer flute" , was unintended of course. It's an inside joke in a band I once played the flute in. When in German someone called me the "queere flute player" (querflöte = flute in German) I won't use the expression again here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:24pm Jan Turkenburg:

so, ok, there's a flute again!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:24pm Mr Fab:

Jan, we are the LEAST offendable people on the web! In fact, we DEMAND offensive jokes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:25pm Otis Fodder:

So many flutes of all shapes and sizes. oooooooh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:25pm Jan Turkenburg:

Ok, this is the queerest flute I've had in my ears for months!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:26pm Mr Fab:

Just heard part of a radio interview this morn with James Brown's last manager, who claims JB may have been...MURDERED! Uh, sure...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:27pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Yes, keep up with the flute jokes. Offensive is fine, just don't be mean. Do ya know what i mean?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:27pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

I got lots of donuts in my greenhouse.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:28pm Mr Fab:

Right, nothing mean, we love everyone...more or less..
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:29pm Martinibomb:

Okay I just put google drive folder for people in the Sheena's Jungle Room on WFMU Facebook page.. listeners and DJs feel free to upload and share!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:29pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Sometimes the way we express our love may seem a bit…odd? Queer, even.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:29pm Jan Turkenburg:

@Granny yes I know what you mean, but though my English may seem adequate, I'm not always 100% sure if I'm on the right frequency with some expressions, for it's not my native language
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:29pm chresti:

Mean flutes are okay...
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:30pm spacebrother:

Which library music company did Ed Wood use for Plan 9? I saw the same music used for a Lockheed or Douglas Aircraft promo film, which was surreal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:30pm Rich in Washington:

I've got the Lalo version. It's wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:30pm Jan Turkenburg:

@ Chresti :-) I'll remember that one!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:30pm Mr Fab:

thanks for that Martinibomb, that's great! can't wait to see what peeps come up with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:31pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Jan Turkenburg, it can be tricky expressing humor in different languages/cultures. You just never quite know when you're stepping right over that line of OK into UH-OH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:32pm Rich in Washington:

I've been watching SCTV a lot lately and there's this spooky library piece from the later episode where an evil entity is turning SCTV people into glitter - the same spooky music is used in Kids in the Hall, the Simon and manservant Hecubus. Man, we're nerds!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:32pm Mr Fab:

ha, last week I was just ripping a buncha tracks from this Werner Muller album to add to the Sheena stream.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:33pm Martinibomb:

I'm totally dancing right now Otis
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:33pm Otis Fodder:

The one Muller album that stays on the shelf. No duds imho, all killer.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:34pm Mr Fab:

Ed Woods' "Orgy of the Dead" uses the same music as the great film noir "Angel's Flight." Also from 1965. (As sampled by Messer CHups in the song "Orgia of Dead.")
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:34pm Otis Fodder:

Next cut might be NSFW. Extreme moaning. Fair warning for those in public work spaces. I guess it depends on the space you work in tho'!
  Fri. 2/15/19 3:34pm Domenic:

Like here at work! Thanks
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:34pm Mr Fab:

Muller also did a good exotica album. it's like exotica with big band orchestrations. Swingin!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:38pm Martinibomb:

@Rich I've been obsessed with SCTV again too -- Johnny Larue!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:41pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Someone get this dude an inhaler!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:41pm chresti:

I like Messer Chups...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:42pm Rich in Washington:

That last year or so of SCTV, when they went to some cable network. I have not seen those until now. They're really peculiar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:43pm Jan Turkenburg:

flute alert!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:43pm Otis Fodder:

I love Messer Chups!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:44pm Jan Turkenburg:

by the sounds of it, this was a mean one...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:45pm Jan Turkenburg:

Or the tiger ate the flute player...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:45pm Otis Fodder:

Record crackle on songs about being in the jungle work... so well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:45pm Jan Turkenburg:

ah, he's still alive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:46pm Otis Fodder:

I think Bas Shiva is going to eat the flute player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:48pm Jan Turkenburg:

or at least have a bite at the flute...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:49pm Jan Turkenburg:

which we'll notice when we start hearing a piccollo
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:51pm Martinibomb:

@Otis you know Rene Laloux aka Fantastic Planet is one of my main influences
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:52pm spacebrother:

I discovered Messer Chups on Comforstand.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:52pm spacebrother:

or "Comfortstand"
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:53pm Martinibomb:

My sister-in-law's dad is a huge Jan and Dean fan.. knows everything! blows my mind
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 3:55pm Martinibomb:

I keep trying to get him to write a book from is POV
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 3:55pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:05pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:26pm Otis Fodder:

I will check in with Don too! Yes, want him to jump on here bad with his boxes of 7" singles!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:27pm Otis Fodder:

@Rich - Yesssss, this album and Pom Pom by Ariel (with Don!) are killer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:28pm chresti:

Don Boles is a local yokel. I sometimes listen to a show he and Mitchell Brown (as Prof. Cantaloupe),have on KXLU
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:29pm Don-O:

I haven't heard Ursula 1000's name in a long time. I might have to catch up with all of that fer later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:35pm Rich in Washington:

SLURP!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:36pm Don-O:

Negativland twisted this Slurp song for their 2000 tour. It perminatly fractured in my head now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:39pm Otis Fodder:

@Don-O - Was it the True/False tour? Caught that show in Seattle in 2000. Memory is hazy though. My reference/turn-on to Slurp was Shadow/Chemist.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:40pm Mr Fab:

Don-O, you sure you're not thinking of DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist's "Brainfreeze"? that def used "The Slurp" around that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:41pm Kat in Chicago:

dollreference.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:42pm Otis Fodder:

Cool, thanks Kat! Reference for my cool scratched up 7" single.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:43pm Don-O:

Hmmm, I think the tracks were 'Design Objective Your Advertising Dreams Come True'....at least according to the bootlegs....and I know that I got one of them from Otis years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:44pm Otis Fodder:

@Don - Did you? Oh wow. I don't even remember, but then again the old distro catalog I ran had over 3000 titles when it ended in 1999. Another life, long ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:47pm Rich in Washington:

The True/False show in Portland 2000 was the first show my then fiancee and I went to together. Fun times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:50pm Rich in Washington:

Negativland sampled The Slurp too. I think it was on that People Like Us ‎– Hate People Like Us remix comp.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:51pm Don-O:

OTIS: actually, you set the Chicago show on 3 CD-R's (I still have them. BTW, Don Joyce broadcast the soundboard copy in one of the 'Lobster" episodes on OTE. Too bad it never got an official release...outside of the Archive.org
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:54pm Otis Fodder:

@Don - Wow, don't even remember, so much dubbing and copying from 1994-1999, my brain went numb. My old stack of 8 double dubbing decks in my Seattle apartment. From 1999-2002, gave 90% of the collection away to friends who would come by in Seattle and donated a bunch to a learning library in Seattle. I have a small handful here to remember that project by.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:56pm Kat in Chicago:

that's a lotta double dubbing decks!
  Fri. 2/15/19 4:56pm BC Sterrett:

Hellody Hi Everyone!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:58pm Martinibomb:

Hi BC welcome to the Jungle Room
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 4:58pm Otis Fodder:

Hi BC!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:59pm Don-O:

A wall of dubbing machines! That should be the title of the MOFO history book.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 4:59pm Don-O:

YO-diddly-Do
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:00pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, I need to document it online, catalogs, zines, fonts, t-shirts, that 5 year period. All I up is just a small blurb here, www.mtlmofo.com...
  Fri. 2/15/19 5:02pm BC Sterrett:

The best thing Ray Conniff recorded.
  Fri. 2/15/19 5:03pm BC Sterrett:

Is Blue Marble Company Inc. on discogs? What was that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:05pm Otis Fodder:

@BC - No, not on Discogs. From an album TAKE ONE! by the folks behind the show. Promo sort of thing.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:05pm Don-O:

BAH BAH BAh BAH!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:06pm Otis Fodder:

@BC - 2 good cuts on it, rest is boring. Purging it and spoken for.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:07pm Mr Fab:

Otis: The Interstellar Café! I have dim memories of that. Wasn't it a free album download that you would rotate every week? I think i sent you some things to post...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:07pm Rich in Washington:

I dig your idea of ripping the keepers and getting rid of the disks, Otis. I don't know why that's never occurred to me before. I am so inclined to horde crap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:08pm Rich in Washington:

You could be the Marie Kondo of records, Otis!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:09pm Don-O:

The Cafe was briefly the home of the Xanadu Preservation Society.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:10pm Rich in Washington:

I think I have post-record purge guilt syndrome. I think of all the records I'd have now if I didn't purge over the years. More than I could realistically listen to and enjoy, I'll say that.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:11pm Don-O:

I also know a couple of tapes with the Intersteller Cafe tile on them. I managed to save those two tape to CD-Rs. A fine mix of lounge and industrial records!!!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:11pm spacebrother:

Mine were mostly stolen and sold for drugs and booze. Auto-purge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:11pm Otis Fodder:

@Rich - I have moved/lived in a bunch of towns and had many large purges over the years. In the habit still, I purge regularly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:11pm Rich in Washington:

I used to see the obligatory 'record collector dude in a roomful of records' pic and wish I had that many, but now, I go - when I see someone like Thurston Moore, etc - I go 'Wow. He could never actually have the time to listen to all those records.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:12pm Don-O:

Well, I might be purging myself soon as there's a movie to Arizona hanging over my head this year. EEECH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:12pm Rich in Washington:

That's a drag, spacebrother! I've only just had dribs and drabs of records disappear back in my party animal days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:13pm Otis Fodder:

That's it, exactly. How in the hell would I listen to it all. Play it and purge it if it only has 1 or 2 good cuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:13pm Otis Fodder:

That's the worst SB. Sorry man.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:13pm Don-O:

Been digging the mood from the last few tracks. Like a EZ radio station in me head.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:14pm Rich in Washington:

I did recently have a friend have a bunch of very irreplaceable rare Jazz records stolen by a person he'd put up to help out. He and the records vanished off the face of the earth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:17pm Rich in Washington:

One cool thing about doing a weekly show is that I am exploring corners of my collection hither and yon and finding stuff I'd forgotten about - played a few times, shelved, lost, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:18pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:18pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. Lawrence Welk!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:18pm Don-O:

Welk. Lawrence Welk?!?!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:19pm Martinibomb:

oooh baby Lawrence welk
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:19pm Otis Fodder:

@Rich - Here too. Going through vinyl and moving items I play to one side of the room and in the process purging. So far, about 25% have not made the cut. Slow purge here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:19pm Otis Fodder:

2 good cuts on this Welk album. Star Trek and Baretta. Otherwise, slumber time.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:19pm Don-O:

This reminds me to play Bob James version of ST: TMP from 1979. One of the first 45s I ever bought.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:21pm grantbob:

Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:21pm Otis Fodder:

SWAT is good too on the Welk album actually. I like to joke that every second school band LP I pick up from the mid-70s has a cover of SWAT.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:22pm Rich in Washington:

Welk also did a version of The Addams Family theme.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:22pm spacebrother:

A whole "popcorn" show would be pretty great..or could be used to flush enemies from their lairs.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:22pm Don-O:

Oh, in La La Land Records 3 CD version of ST: TMP, they not only have the unedited Bob James single, but, for the Japanese audience, Shawn Cassidy singing the lyrics to Illia's Theme.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:23pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah, to be sure - Popcorn covers abound!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:23pm grantbob:

seconded
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:23pm Rich in Washington:

There's even one with lyrics, but I cannot recall who, what, when.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:23pm grantbob:

Re: popcorn show - seconded
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:24pm Mr Fab:

I had a dream last night that I made a mash-up of Star Trek theme with Walk on the Wild Side
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:24pm Martinibomb:

I'm exhausted today everyone.. probably listen to the archives later. Have a good weekend everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:25pm Otis Fodder:

Get your Popcorn Poppin' - blog.wfmu.org...
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:25pm grantbob:

OK that works. :)
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:26pm spacebrother:

THAT'S where I saw the popcorn collection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:30pm chresti:

Thanks Otis, enjoyed the show!
I'm due for a purge...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:31pm Rich in Washington:

and the green girls go, doo da doo da doo da doo...
DOO it Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:32pm Otis Fodder:

@chresti - The radio show helps now to purge. Last year and before when I was absent from radio for 8 years, I made CDR and Digital comps of the best songs from records I purge. Still keep the music, push the media to, hopefully, another home where it will be enjoyed. Or the dump.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:33pm Rich in Washington:

I have this Pourcel lp, and it's one of those where I just listened to it once, maybe played something on a show, then shelved and completely forgot about it. Again, I need to sort more often.
  Fri. 2/15/19 5:37pm Laura L:

If Shakespeare lived today he could have written: "To purge with discretion is the better part of valor." Thanks for a mighty fine show, Otis!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:38pm Mr Fab:

Funny Rich, I had the exact same idea for "and the green colored girls go..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:38pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks Laura!!! xo
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:39pm chresti:

@Otis- I used to regularly do that- make cdrs with selected favorite songs and then trade in the original cds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:41pm Otis Fodder:

@chresti - Totally, that's the best. Any sort of media will do and after we have wonderful collections of solid numbers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:41pm chresti:

Radio does provide my music needs these days, for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:41pm Rich in Washington:

I used to do something like that too, chresti! Back when you could exchange CDs pretty evenly. I think all that ended when MP3 downloads made them lose their exchange value.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:45pm spacebrother:

Thanks for showing me what can be done. Again!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:49pm Mr Fab:

Byron Lee is the Carib version of Enoch Light or James Last - a million albums, little collector's value, but usually some fun stuff .
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:50pm chresti:

Yes, Rich, I noticed the last time I traded some cds in, some were new. I guess Discogs is a way to off load cds?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:51pm Otis Fodder:

@Fab - Yessss, there is normally one great cut on every Byron Lee album, and so so so many albums.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:55pm Don-O:

Looks like I'll keep Discogs in mind when I start to unload stuff, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 5:57pm Otis Fodder:

@Don - I do that, check Discogs and for anything I can do a good trade/cash with I put aside and know a guy I go through. Otherwise it goes in a free box here and friends stock up when they come over.
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 5:59pm Don-O:

Otis: That sound democratic....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 6:00pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks for listening today and see you next week. Don/Rich, have to work and eat so will be catching you in the archives this weekend. Take care all. Cheers!
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 6:00pm Mr Fab:

Thanks Otis!
  Fri. 2/15/19 6:01pm BC Sterrett:

:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/15/19 6:01pm chresti:

I have a bag for my trade ins, then I go through it years later and listen again, just in case
Avatar Fri. 2/15/19 6:01pm Don-O:

Thanks, Otis!
  Fri. 2/15/19 6:02pm BC Sterrett:

I'm loving this last track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/22/19 5:56pm Linda Lee:

my god, why am i so late? this is fantastic. must check archives asap!
