With all the ice we got last night, I'm not surprised WMFU's xmtr would have trouble. I'm leaving the radio on so I can tell you when it comes back.

90.1 was working fine from new paltz to newburgh then again heading east on 84 toward brewster, as usual.

This coming up w/ Clive Bunker a block from my house :
- Whadaya think ??
Marriott - interesting comparison...
  3:56pm Brendan:

I cant speak for the terrestrial signal, but my stream seems okay. I never lift the lid Allison , my aim is true.
Avatar 3:57pm dale:

i'm actually hearing some static-y weak jazz. which is just as well i can't hear it very good.
Avatar 3:57pm Fredericks:

Maybe I was referring to Terry Reid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Mike Sin:

Well, this Blac Rabbit is something else! Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Irwin is a closet headbanging acidhead...
Avatar 3:58pm Little Danny:

It sounded like the drummer flipped the Tomorrow Never Knows pattern around, while Terry himself nicked a bit of the Yardbirds' "Still I'm Sad" progression for the chorus
Avatar 3:59pm Snortley:

Is 91.1 down? It went dead last night, but was back on this morning.
Avatar 3:59pm jillydg:

Back to Matt Wilson for a sec Irwin. You should get him in there. As you say, he's very entertaining.

Hello Irwin! Hi gang!
  4:08pm andrewb:

forget if it was jones or xray who mused about leaving his estate to" fmu, your station for factory noises"
  4:09pm Listener Robert:

I'm glad X-Ray made so many LOL. I really liked him but he almost never made me laugh -- just smile. A lot. Even made me think. Same effect on the late Listener Steve. Neither of us cared much for Jonesy's music selections, we just tuned in to their mic break...and I tended to tune out when X wasn't in.
  4:09pm Dean:

Nuts. Had to miss Gorka. Heard him in town here at the old Freight & Salvage many years ago.
Avatar 4:09pm coelacanth∅:

Fredericks not necessarily, but i've heard Gorka many times on fmu
Avatar 4:10pm coelacanth∅:

(i'm blanking out on what shows though. sorry!)
  4:10pm Wilson in SO:

Peace, X-Ray
  4:10pm L W Rhino:

Irwin: Touching words about X-Ray. On Monday I went to Rutt's Hut to have some "rippers" and fries with gravy in honor of Ken. Rutt's Hut had black memorial bows on the entrance doors. I put a "ripper" out on the outside wall where a gull swooped down and gobbled it up. I'm convinced this was X-Ray have one last "ripper" for the road.
  4:11pm some_guy:

Yeah, me too Rob. Never understood it, but I could always listen to X-Ray. He could read a store list & I'd be captivated. I'll miss him. The world needs more fantastic freaks.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Therese:

That was a lovely tribute, Irwin.
Avatar 4:14pm coelacanth∅:

L W R i like that. in some way -maybe it was.
  4:15pm Dean:

Irene Trudel and Irwin Chusid are the major WFMU proponents of Gorka.

Shoot, missed the X-Ray tribute, too. Sad news. Shoot, I still miss William Berger.
Avatar 4:17pm coelacanth∅:

Therese, as was yours.

Hi Irwin - I'm psyched for the Joe Frank movie.
Also: I play "Weeded" a lot myself, thanks for the Roches!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yeah - the Radiolab guy observed that JoeFrank seemed to come from inside you. But we're out of the closet & we mince words no longer...

More Roches, nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Parq:

Second time I've heard a track from Another World on FMU tht I thought was okay. When I first bought that album, I thought the first few tracks (after the cover of Come Softly Darling, that is) were so terrible that I sold it to St Marks Sounds without even listening to the entire album. Looks like I may have been hasty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@WH - I was just about to comment about next week's Joe Frank special (looking forward to it!). I'll have to wait until the movie is widely distributed to see it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Mitch Mitchell drumming on the Klaus Beyer - & now Noel Redding...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Irwin:

Noel Redding on guitar -- not bass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Carmichael:

This is more than a little like the Beatles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They say Jimi brought the Blues, Mitch the Jazz & Noel the PopPsych...the Mysteries of the Trinity...Hey - McCartney was a Gittarist shoved onto Bass too...

tnx... for... map... i'm from ukrainian carpathian rocks... and i'm delighted... :)
Avatar 5:27pm coelacanth∅:

(i guess i could say the same for Noel too; and Lemmy, for that matter...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Lemmy like Entwistle I think was very specific he was a Bass*Gittarist...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Carmichael:

Who's playing organ on this?
  5:30pm Луц:

bach ;)
Avatar 5:31pm coelacanth∅:

right. chords.
- did Entwistle switch from git?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@coel: Don't think so. Electric Gittar remember was pretty new-fangled - & Electric Bass even more so. Macca & Ox helped pioneer it...I suggest you can hear a switch in the sound of Rawk from StandUp to Electric Bass in the middle of say Eddie Cochran's stuff...
  5:34pm Dean:

Picked up that Fat Matress album for four or five bucks at a record store parking lot sale a few months ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Paul Tynan - Trumpet/Flugelhorn
Aaron Lington - Baritone Saxophone
Jake Hanlon - Guitar
Tony Genge - Hammond B3 Organ
Terry O'Mahoney - Drums

Avatar 5:38pm TDK60:

Haven't heard the entire Fat Mattress album in ages. Is it all good? partly?
Avatar 5:40pm coelacanth∅:

heh. i was just saying last night that chickens chicken, and snakes snake; and they're morally perfect as long as they're not interfered with by humans. (then they're perverted by sickness)
  5:40pm Dean:

Played it once and moved on, frankly, not because it wasn't good, but because I have a surplus of yet unheard stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh dad - we're all Devo.
Avatar 5:42pm TDK60:

..so, it wasn't not good. Ok.
Avatar 5:44pm Fredericks:

I thought Keith Jarrett was Les McCann. First time that happened.
  5:47pm Dean:

That's right. Most definitely wasn't not good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Michael 98145:

this is great thru headphones -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Parq:

Is this the same Babe Ruth that did that ultra-bombastic cover of Eleanor Rigby?
Avatar 5:52pm Marshall Stacks:

This (King Kong) is the standout track on the album.
Avatar 5:52pm Fredericks:

Lemmy said that he was really a rhythm guitarist. He also said Entwistle played lead.

& so was this Mr. Irwin.
  5:57pm G:

Not being perfect gives us things to work on, H.L.
Avatar 5:57pm coelacanth∅:

right a lot of people (maybe even Townshend?) say John played lead while Pete was the rhythm section.
-and Keith played lead too!
