I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

Howdy, Mayuko, fred, and other Saturday folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm chresti:

Good morning from PST zone!
Avatar 12:02pm Sem:

Hello, Mayuko, fred, LJfW.
  12:03pm Joe B:

Hello Mayuko, Fred, Chresti, Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm fred:

@chresti: Are you done with jury duty, or just on a break?
  12:04pm Ivan:

Hi Mayuko, everyone, tuning in from CST today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm fred:

Umeko Ando!
Avatar 12:05pm Dave B:

hello there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm chresti:

fred- jury duty is finished!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The snow outside is pretty much gone here. Came inside to enjoy some musical vertigo. Hello, everybody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm chresti:

I am experiencing post jury duty vertigo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm listener james from westwood:

Brisk wind and cloudless skies, here as over BK! A right pretty winter day, suitable for quick dashes outside for sun or rations.
Avatar 12:12pm Mayuko:

Thank you all for tuning in!!!!!!! Happy to have you all here with me listening to the music.
  12:13pm Dropof Goldensun:

Good day Mayuko and all my fellow Listenerds! I’m mobile at the moment because I can’t be near my pc here at the lab. So I’m listening from my scrub pants pocket. It’s like I have my very own soundtrack following me around!
Avatar 12:14pm Mayuko:

Good day to you too Dropof! Thanks for taking the vertigo with you around!!
  12:18pm Katsuko:

Mayuko you effing legend.
Avatar 12:22pm Mayuko:

Welcome Katsuko! Kong Nay IS the effing legend from Cambodia!
  12:25pm Katsuko:

  12:34pm rbrt:

for warmth google Itapua
  12:35pm rbrt:

a perfect little red and white lighthouse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Dropof Goldensun:

Ok, I'm back to my PC and officially logged in. It's weird how you can't actually log in from the app. I was able to put in Dropof Goldensun before I commented. Makes me think I can put whatever I want in on the app.
  12:39pm Rickwaukee:

I wouldn't be surprised to hear something by The Raincoats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Dropof Goldensun:

BTW, after walking around with Vertigo in my pocket I'm pretty sure I'm now due for a "random" drug test!
Avatar 12:40pm Mayuko:

@rbrt Ah! I love the light house.
  12:41pm rbrt:

@Mayuko perfect right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm fred:

@Dropof Goldensun: Maybe you should erase those Stan archives before that test. They might count as a positive
Avatar 12:42pm Mayuko:

@Dropof yeah, it could be all one person with many names and it's possible that I only have one listenerd actually. very scary thought and I hope they update the app soon.
Avatar 12:43pm Mayuko:

Hola Rckwaukee!
  12:44pm rbrt:

everytime I hear Helado Negro I think of his peformance on KEXP with these silver people that just stand there
Avatar 12:44pm Dave B:

Droof - if you don't sign into the webpage you can use whatever name you want, you just have to do the math question
Avatar 12:45pm Joe B:

@fred hahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Dropof Goldensun:

fred, haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Dropof Goldensun:

Math question?
12:45pm Not Signed In as Dave B:

Meant to type Dropof, silly spell check
12:46pm Not Signed In as Dave B:

Yeah - before you can post, if prompts for a little arithmetic
Avatar 12:46pm Mayuko:

@Dave B Yes. It can turn out to be all Davids using fake names who can do simple math.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Dropof Goldensun:

Ok, I'm going to try a little experiment.
NP Dave B, I kinda like Droof.
Avatar 12:46pm Mayuko:

  12:47pm David, Dave, Davey, Davood:

How many Daivd's will there be tonight?
  12:47pm DROOF:

Hey, who is this Dropof Goldensun idiot always posting on here anyway?
Avatar 12:47pm Mayuko:

What is "Droof" and why does "spell check" turns it into a word with no meaning?
  12:48pm Rickwaukee:

  12:49pm Mayuko:

Hey DROOF, that’s not very nice. Dropof is a nice guy!
Avatar 12:50pm Dave B:

Maybe not a spell check... seems my P key is a little messed up. Sometimes I don't watch what I'm typing
  12:50pm rbrt:

"A word native to Cumbernauld, Scotland which describes any non alchoholic drink. It takes other forms for other meanings like "Droofed" meaning to be thirsty or "Undroofed" meaning that you are deprived of a drink."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Dropof Goldensun:

Ok, I think I just proved my point! Sorry about borrowing your name Mayuko. They really should fix this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Dropof Goldensun:

Mayuko I will never impersonate you again. Promise.
  12:52pm rbrt:

♡ cemetery birds lol
  12:53pm Rickwaukee:

Robins are supposed to be migrated south this time of year. Great Climate!
Avatar 12:54pm Joe B:

I never seem to see robins in LA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Dropof Goldensun:

I love cemeteries too. I went through a phase many years ago where all I photographed was graveyards.
  12:55pm Rickwaukee:

I prefer caTAPillars!
  12:55pm Ike:

  12:56pm rbrt:

vertical earthworms!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Dropof Goldensun:

Most earthworms migrate vertically downwards. Some, the space earthworms migrate vertically up.
  12:56pm Rickwaukee:

Start digging, Mayuko
  12:58pm Ike:

Space earthworms are just called spaceworms, silly. Or moonworms, if they’re from the moon. Duh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm chresti:

I've only seen robins in Illinois, not Southern California.
  1:06pm Jesse k:

Hi Mayuko! Running errands today with you on the radio. <3 some Oki dubs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Doug Schulkind:

Such dear and lovely sounds. Thanks, Mayuko!
Avatar 1:10pm Joe B:

It's not very cold here, but I decided to horizontally migrate back to bed with a book anyway.
  1:10pm Rickwaukee:

Which "animals" sound more batshit crazy?
  1:10pm Maestroso:

Hallo Mayuko! Listening whilst waiting for my car to be serviced. I heard you mention Oki Ainu Dub band; I really like their sound. They did a collaboration with the great Irish band Kila a few years ago, really great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Franco Twinkie:

Hi Mayuko! We have bird gangs too. Wild parrots and peacocks. The parrots roost in our Liquid Amber tree and make all kinds of racket, then leave. The lore in the SGV is they escaped from a burning pet store in Alhambra years ago, and have been roaming the area ever since. The peacocks, I think escaped from the Arboretum in Arcadia and have been walking around blocking traffic and just loafing around in peoples front yard since I don't know when.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm fred:

I like this Rotate track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Dropof Goldensun:

I second that fred. Very interesting sound texture.
  1:15pm Rickwaukee:

I would get them parrots annually outside my Pasadena apartment in the Eucalyptus(es?) - Glorious
  1:15pm DROOF:

Dropof, we don’t care what you think.
Avatar 1:15pm Mayuko:

Avatar 1:16pm Mayuko:

DROOF making a mean comment needs to be UNDROOFED.
Avatar 1:17pm Joe B:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Dropof Goldensun:

Something went terribly wrong in the lab today. Now we have Dr. Goldensun and Mr. Droof.
Avatar 1:19pm Mayuko:

And DROOF or UNDROOF, it's all Davids anyway no matter how you all appear to be!!! Sob.
Avatar 1:22pm Mayuko:

Thanks for the non-robin info, west coast listnerds! I'd love to visit there to observe west coast feathered residents. Like hummingbirds. I LOVE that William Saroyan's short story about humming birds in California.
  1:23pm rbrt:

this terza track is gooooood
  1:23pm Droofof Goldensun:

I’m slowly losing my droofiness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm chresti:

Ah! The Droof is wearing off!
  1:25pm rbrt:

hummingbirds are so unusual!
Avatar 1:26pm Mayuko:

Late hallos to Ike! And Jesse! I should have some Oki stuff somewhere but since my main music library crashed a little while ago it's been hard to find whatever I own right away...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Franco Twinkie:

Mayuko, the other day someone showed me a picture on his phone of a brown bear in his backyard, on it's hind legs drinking out of the plastic humming bird feeder!
  1:27pm Rickwaukee:

listen and learn, Philip Glass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm doctorjazz:

Hi folks
Avatar 1:28pm Joe B:

This must be it? re048.k12.sd.us...
Avatar 1:29pm Mayuko:

And our grand-radio-master Doug! Thanks for being here!

Thanks for tuning in Maestroso! I should check that collab out, thanks for the info!!
Avatar 1:29pm Dave B:

Gonna step out into the cold. Looking forward to later tonight!
Avatar 1:29pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee @1:10
... the human?
  1:29pm Ike:

Isn’t the SGV where all the most amazing strip-mall ethnic restaurants are supposedly located in SoCA? Best Thai on the west coast?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes Ike, we're in the smack dab middle of it. It's great!
  1:31pm Rickwaukee:

Avatar 1:31pm Joe B:

@Franco what are your favorite spots?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm chresti:

A hummingbird flew into the tennis office one day and flew around, collecting cobwebs in the process. I fashioned a "net" with an unstrung tennis racket and a bag, once he flew in, I let him go outside.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Dropof Goldensun:

Reed Holmes is so good!
Avatar 1:32pm Mayuko:

Hi Franco! We have parakeets in South Brooklyn too - VERY noisy neighbors. Having peacocks roaming around in the neighborhood sounds like a dreamscape (except they can be loud sometimes, too...)
  1:32pm rw:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm fred:

@Rickwaukee: this sounds closer to Reich than Glass to me
  1:34pm Rickwaukee:

He could use a refresher too!
Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

Hi doctorjazz! Welcome on board!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm doctorjazz:

Thanks! Liking this F. Ampism track.
Avatar 1:36pm Sem:

Head down in work, diggin' the spins, Mayuko.
Avatar 1:39pm Mayuko:

@Franco William Saroyan didn't say anything about bears when he wrote about hummingbirds, maybe now I need to rethink my plan of visiting the west coast. I don't want to get eaten by bears nor pigs just yet.
Avatar 1:39pm chocolate monk:

you missed out the label for the F.ampism track. what great label put this out ;-)
Avatar 1:40pm Mayuko:

@chresti that's so funny! good thing it was a tennice office!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Franco Twinkie:

Joe, right across the street is a Vietnamese place called Com Tam Kieu. It's by all measures really good, but the best thing about it, is I can see it from the front porch. When people drop by unexpected, and it's time to eat...
Avatar 1:41pm Mayuko:

Have a great rest of the weekend, Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Franco Twinkie:

Mayuko, It can be an uneasy coexistence in Southern California if you live in the foothills.
Avatar 1:45pm Mayuko:

@chocolate monk Oops! Indeed a great track from the great label! Glad to have you here!!!
  1:45pm rbrt:

what about mountain lionsss
  1:46pm Ike:

There’s a lot of good food in NYC but we don’t have any really good Vietnamese (despite what some may say) — except good banh mi, we’ve got that at least.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm fred:

@chocolate monk: You released something by Andy Bolus?! I'm impressed
Avatar 1:46pm Mayuko:

Hi rw, another neighbor of them beers!
  1:48pm JakeGould:

Hey Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Franco Twinkie:

rbrt, talk to Chresti about big cats, she works at Griffith Park.
Avatar 1:48pm Mayuko:

I meant BEARS.
Avatar 1:49pm Joe B:

@rw Hey there! @mayuko Please don't let the bears (or mountain lions, or beers) discourage you! @Franco Good to know! My latest discovery is 101 Noodle Express on Valley.
  1:50pm rbrt:

those big cats scare me lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes! 101 Noodle! Which one do you like Alhambra or Arcadia?
Avatar 1:51pm Mayuko:

Stay tuned for Music For a Free World with Dave Sewelson on the drummer stream starting at 2pm ET!
Avatar 1:51pm Mayuko:

I'm already having enough problems with small cats, pretty sure I won't get along with big cats either!
  1:52pm Rickwaukee:

Who's calling the sheep on this?
  1:52pm rbrt:

feels weird having the show end on time all the time lol
Avatar 1:52pm Mayuko:

Hey Jake!
Avatar 1:52pm Joe B:

@Franco Haven't checked out the one in Arcadia yet, will do next time I'm in the area
  1:53pm JakeGould:

Did you hear about the poor tiger that got mauled by the other tiger they tried to mate it with in the UK? Talk about a bad date!
Avatar 1:55pm chocolate monk:

@fred a few Bolus things through the years. but the new one is the 1st in a LOOOONG time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Franco Twinkie:

Joe, if and when, you will notice that it to is located next to a bowling alley. I asked the waitress, whats up with that, and she seemed confused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Dropof Goldensun:

I have a lot of Blue Jays in my backyard and it's amazing how many different voices they have! Some nice and some very screechy.
  1:56pm Katsuko:

Mayuko i do believe you knocked it out of the park again. Cheers.
Avatar 1:57pm Joe B:

@Mayuko Sound like the other bird you are describing is a grackle?
  1:57pm rbrt:

mayuko as a kid critiquing kids lol
  1:57pm rbrt:

thanks for the tunes chocolate monk!

There's also bobcats in Griffith Park. I've only seen coyotes, racoons, hawks and squirrels
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm chresti:

..Along with many birds
Avatar 2:01pm Mayuko:

@Joe B We have a bunch of grackles too, and they do look alike like you said. Starlings are little prettier and also noiser though!
