the instrumentation reminded me of the amelie soundtrack
8:34pm
wake up bomb:
Sunday nights = Gaylord Fields here at the hacienda. We've been listening to you for a long time. How long have you been on WFMU? Always Sunday nights?
Yeah! @coelacanth that soundtrack by Yan Tersien is pretty masterful I keep meaning to listen up to some of his other work but keep forgetting thanks for the reminder
I don’t like that word I used : ‘masreful’ I don’t know if I’ve ever used it before and it sounds like shit but what I meant is that Yan Tersien seemed to take instrumentation into a world he orchestrated himself
Good Evening, Gaylord and everyone!
loving the tunes -- sooooooo much better than some goofy old football game, hah!
(apologies to you football enthusiasts out there! just never "got" spectator sports -- i am hardly "athletic," but actually playing a sport is way more fun/interesting than just watching, IMHO)
@slugluv1313: I'm actually a sports fan myself, but I'm not at all interested in hoopla and spectacle such as The Big Game. That's why I'm glad to be here instead.
@ Uncle Michael -- SO COOL!!!!!!
after DJ Monica talked about this -- i had to get hold of a copy! could not find a 12", but found the LP :)
@ Gaylord -- YES INDEED!
@Uncle Michael: It does! Are you coming for the final weekend? What are the dates this year anyway? I should start shopping for an Amtrak ticket, I suppose...
@Gaylord: I really want to! I just have to make sure I can take off that Monday from my new job.
@Uncle Michael: Aww. Yes. I think you're right. I'll be wicked stoked, too! Glenn is a good dude.
hey Thanks Gaylord!
-also, i fear i may oversell that amelie soundtrack! the fact is it's a beautiful, but very simple melody, and most of the album is just variations on the one melody. so it's great to hear occasionally; or a few of the tracks more frequently...
it does get lodged in my head with some regularity. but you be the judge.

Listener comments!
...it repeats the main theme a lot (maybe 4 times?), so there are a few tracks that could be skipped.

I love almost any "Agua de Beber"
if i remember correctly -- DJ Monica said that this was the first record played at Studio 54 :)
