It's so nice just to be able to cruise on over to Bandcamp and follow these artists. I found Vula Viel last night on Bandcamp weekly... Jazz with a punk edge centered on Ghanaian xylophone. Recommended.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am Jeffrey Davison:

hey there dale, Fredericks, Ignore Function (agreed on the Doug Paisley), jake6573, Davee (thanks).
Avatar 7:32am Fredericks:

Both Eaglesmith and Paisley are Canadian artists. Is that just a coincidence or id Jeffrey up to something?
  7:32am Ignore Function:

Yeah, but I'm up earlier because I have to take a bus to work. Car won't start.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am dale:

hey boods!
Avatar 7:33am Fredericks:

Too cold to start the car or is something else going on? Bus is probably a little safer, today.
Avatar 7:34am Buddha of Suburbia:

Dale!!! Hello!
  7:34am my two cents:

@Jeffrey Davison, was referring to Venus in Aquarius.. something about it, particularly the beginning, I imagined Edward Sharpe vocals joining in.
Maybe just me. Have a nice weekend.
  7:35am Ignore Function:

Probably just need a jump.
Avatar 7:36am Buddha of Suburbia:

By the way, very funny @Dale. Ground Hog Day.
Avatar 7:37am Fredericks:

There was a time I was seeing Guy Clark perform 3-4 times annually.
Avatar 7:38am Buddha of Suburbia:

Jeffrey Davison, would you happen to have some Dermott Kennedy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38am annie:

as an aside: i was playing my "Favorites" liston youtube last week and i got to Tommy Makem's "The Cobbler";i found out why there's a spitting sound throughout the song.. !!
Avatar 7:39am Fredericks:

Battery doesn't sound like too big a deal, Ig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am dale:

Avatar 7:41am TDK60:

..don't know that song, Annie.
Avatar 7:41am Fredericks:

Now, I know too, Annie. I'll listen to the whole thing later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am Jeffrey Davison:

dale: yep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am dale:

my truck barely started the last couple of mornings but it did. all the belts and bearings in the pulleys complain and howl for a bit but the rock hard tires with a flat area make it feel like you're driving on a washboard for the first f5 or 20 minutes.
  7:43am EG_Astro:

happy saturday everyone. got a late listening start but midnight queen was great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43am annie:

  7:50am clarke:

woke up in time to catch that wonderful Fred Eaglesmith tune.
  7:52am clarke:

fri/sat always seems to be the oddest night of "sleep" for me
  7:54am ignatatus666:

Fri/sat nights are my oddest at work
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am annie:

my dreams last night were intense and re-assuring ...i was able to wake slightly after each one nd go right back into the fray, so to speak.
Avatar 7:55am TDK60:

..annie, till now, I had no idea there *are* Youtube accounts, heh.
  7:55am clarke:

you have to work weekends - bar? liquor store? club? restaurant?
  7:57am clarke:

  8:02am ignatatus666:

I meet new people everyday day and never know where I’ll end up
Avatar 8:04am TDK60:

..the old Yellow Cab company in my old town closed due to those new driving services.
Avatar 8:05am TDK60:

..a friend lost his job.
  8:05am ignatatus666:

The app based companies are destroying business everywhere
  8:08am clarke:

can a cab driver be an uber driver at the same time? just asking?
  8:10am ignatatus666:

Yes and no? I wouldn’t. I make money on commission. If I did Uber I would have to turn half of that in. No thanks. They make average outside NYC .55 per mile take home. Me..... 1.50 per mile take home
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am annie:

i used an uber driver, but paid him cash since i did not use a smart phone... he just turned the app off..i paid him what uber would have paid him.. he made a little more that way..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11am annie:

we had a deal: $5 a trip
  8:11am clarke:

ah - i see. i am not uber knowledgeable
Avatar 8:12am spamoni:

Thought I could add to this great chat that's going on BUT "I got nothin"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12am annie:

any way i can buck the system, i will
  8:13am clarke:

sometimes nothing is a real cool hand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am annie:

yup ^^
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14am Ken From Hyde Park:

I've never used Uber. How did you summon the driver, annie? I thought the riders need the app to tell the Uber system they need a ride.
  8:15am EG_Astro:

I love this show. thank you jeff. my saturdays are best when started early and with great song content you provide. ahh - just great : )
  8:16am clarke:

slide guitar here reminiscent of early clay allison/rain parade/etc
Avatar 8:16am TDK60:

I drove midnight shift cab once, long ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am Jeffrey Davison:

i texted him....and we arranged it that way...i lost him to a permanent gig at Pisgh brewery...no one's matched him so far
  8:17am clarke:

i think i would have "enjoyed" driving a cab back when. i don't care too much for "people" now, ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18am Ken From Hyde Park:

Ah, I get it now. Very nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20am annie:

  8:21am clarke:

Avatar 8:21am TDK60:

..yes EG, the tunes are such a potpourri of folksiness.
Avatar 8:21am spamoni:

Wow I just remembered (sorry chemo brain) i also drove a cab at night into early morning it was very strange indeed!
  8:22am clarke:

spamoni's epiphany!!!
Avatar 8:23am TDK60:

Nulsh, are similar things happening in Scotland with taxis and the newer driving companies?
Avatar 8:23am spamoni:

I never got a call from Annie though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am annie:

... hehe, no, they just confiscated the name.. i'm sure there were SOME paybacks involved... @spamoni,did you ever see that movie with tom waits: "Taxi" lili taylor was also in it
  8:25am clarke:

i saw that - but so long ago wow
Avatar 8:25am spamoni:

No Annie ,I will check it out thanks
  8:25am clarke:

hey there Andrew in Etobicoke
  8:32am clarke:

annie, is ALL of Mount Pisgah part of the Nat'l Park? or are there parts that are civilian?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am dale:

the thing with companies like uber is that they take over a market with zero investment in infrastructure. your car, your repairs, your home office, your phone bill.
  8:34am clarke:

diggin' the psych set!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34am dale:

....no sick leave, no insurance, no holidays, no retirement account...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34am annie:

actually, clarke, i'm unsure... i think it is, it's all so damn wild out there!! the photos shared by some of my hiker friends just blow me away
  8:35am clarke:

i just love that whole area - might end up thar one day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

Yep, your insurance, your gas, your depreciation, and the erosion of public transportation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am annie:

my son is an indie filmmaker and he has been relying on uber and lyft for a big deal of his income....oh, clarke, you should!! it's unforgettable.
  8:37am clarke:

dale - you have just described the life of an indie pop musician!
  8:39am clarke:

i also like the quote "poor man's spotify" ha ha
  8:43am clarke:

spamoni - how far along are you in the chemo battle? much good thoughts from cape cod!!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48am Nulsh:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48am queems:
