  9:52am Brendan:

As for the tour. ... “he’s also planning on mixing in three or four songs from the new album along with “Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride)”
  9:52am JakeGould:

@Brendan: The Met (not the MoMA) but still “…Felder and his iconic double neck Gibson electric guitar, that he recorded and performed with on Hotel California, will be featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibit titled Play It Loud: Instruments of Rock and Roll opening April 8th.”

And the official Met page says: “Highlights of the exhibition will include: Chuck Berry’s electric guitar ES-350T (1957), which was his primary guitar from 1957 until about 1963 and was used to record “Johnny B. Goode”; Jimi Hendrix’s electric guitar “Love Drops,” originally decorated by him; James Jamerson’s upright bass, which he likely used on many early Motown hits; Keith Emerson’s keyboard rig, consisting of the customized Moog Modular Synthesizer, electric tone-wheel organ, and rotary speakers; a reconstructed performance rig from Eddie Van Halen as it appeared onstage in 1978; Steve Miller’s electric guitar that was painted with psychedelic designs by artist Bob Cantrell by 1973; Jack Bruce’s electric bass, which was painted for him by the artist collective known as “The Fool” in 1967 while he was with Cream; St. Vincent’s electric guitar, which Annie “St. Vincent” Clark designed in collaboration with Music Man in 2015; and Jimmy Page’s dragon-embroidered costume (Los Angeles, 1975)—the elaborately hand-embroidered suit took over a year to complete and Page wore it during Led Zeppelin’s live performances from 1975 to 1977.”

  9:54am randyfrommichigan:

@Jake-I totally did NOT appreciate it at the time, but I dutifully looked at every painting. The place was JAM PACKED with lots and lots and lots of work. His colors are amazing.
@Steveo-The Met (I think it is the met) has on of George Washington's swords. In cross section it is triangular with blood grooves-looks like an architects' scale. Weird.
Big Blood is very eclectic. Never know what you're gonna get with BB. I am still learning to appreciate them. Their Sumatran cover song is AMAZING with all that echo.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Ike:

@Tom from Glasgow, I think I've literally used up every insult that I know in the English language for Don Felder. Perhaps you can come to my aid with some new insults for that impudent, wretched vileness? Are the northern Brits and Scots not experts at this? It was, after all, UKers who called Drumpf a "radge orange barmpot" and an "incompressible jizztrumpet".

Salaminizer: they do like coffee, and i do let them have **very small** amounts if they ask for it
  11:15am David in London:

@Asheville Jon, in that case two previous cups and a hefty dose of Felder may prove decisive. A third cup may leave you over stimulated and vulnerable to the tiny tots. Hit the Oolong and come back in from the edge...

hey 'dropped one' you weren't funny on the other show you were trolling either...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am steveo:

from songfacts:

Felder based the song on a track he worked on for the Eagles 1979 album The Long Run, which turned out to be their last studio album until 2007. That song, with the working title "You're Really High, Aren't You?," didn't make the cut, but Don remembered it when he was asked to work on the movie.

"4 For Sale from $137.93"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Cmurtha:

You know, I'm not on the felder hate train, but imagining him say "You're really high, aren't you" just like he says "Taking a Ride, on Heavy Metal..." is infuriating.
Avatar 11:25am Rev. Turnip Druid:

to be fair, that was the first pressing. But still.
  11:25am JakeGould:

Don Felder is Kips Bay heavy metal.
  11:25am Morphe':

Can't say who the others are????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am steveo:

how come you never play this one matt?

Felder: We did record a new version of “Hotel California” with all three bands, which is really interesting. We traded off the lead vocals on all three verses. I sing a verse, [Foreigner’s] Kelly Hansen sings a verse, [Styx’s] Tommy Shaw sings a verse, and we all sing on the choruses. The whole song starts off acoustically and with a Latin feel, and it builds to a place where the drums come in and the electric guitars come on, and then it transforms into this big, monstrous beast. (laughs) Yeah, it was fun to do.
  11:25am John from Florham Park:

@davefromtoronto don’t feed the troll
  11:26am Brendan:

You could do a premium of these post-Felder epics. They really stand on their own.

Florham Park is one of the few towns in northern NJ that doesn't have a downtown (or I never noticed one), probably because there's no train station. But it has good WFMU reception!
