Woof woof, all! Oi, I actually bought that "Beatle Barkers" vinyl way back when. It is so far beyond bad it's almost back around to genius. Almost.
Avatar 2:04pm
worldsworstrecords:

Hey Mr F! Yes, I've had a copy festering away at the back of my collection for decades. Atrocious!
Avatar 2:05pm
Mr Fab:

This episode's gonna really put the 'woof' into WFMU's 'Woof-Moo' logo.

I remember fairly recently asking my parents if they had that 60s dogs barking Jingle Bells record and their reaction told me that they had, and that my mother hated it and my dad thought it was hilarious, and something about the record disappearing somehow. I had clearly opened up an old wound.
Avatar 2:07pm
worldsworstrecords:

haha! The Singing Dogs... a classic
Avatar 2:10pm
Mr Fab:

Yep, I bought that "Jingle Bells" 45: Don Carlos and his Singing Dogs. The b side is the dogs singing 'O Susanna," apparently live, no tape trickery.
Avatar 2:12pm

I've got the orginal UK 78 somewhere

"Doggie In the Window Limbo" really did literally have me LOL-ing.

I need to see that Off the Charts Song Poem documentary again. My favorite part is the old codger reading his love song lyrics out loud.
Avatar 2:30pm

One of Columbine's "Now Sounds of Today" albums was the first song poem record I bought. But it was in the early '90s and I didn't know what song-poems were. Was I confused...
Avatar 2:32pm
worldsworstrecords:

I picked up a job lot of Columbine EPS and 45s, all ex-radio station stuff. I've probably got over 100

Hey Jan, you mention Giddyup Go... I've a track coming up next from Wink Martindale, from his 1966 album Giddyup Go. How strange is that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm
Jan Turkenburg:

fascinating! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm

I was always surprised to learn that Wink was a recording artists. He's mostly known here in the US - and by people my age - as a game show presenter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Rich in Washington:

I have on of his singles where he's delivering one of those 'I Am An American' type spoken word patriotic songs. It's pretty dumb, but in a good way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

This dog is a goner too, isn't he? I'm bracing myself ...
