Avatar 2:03pm Mr Fab:

Woof woof, all! Oi, I actually bought that "Beatle Barkers" vinyl way back when. It is so far beyond bad it's almost back around to genius. Almost.
Avatar 2:04pm worldsworstrecords:

Hey Mr F! Yes, I've had a copy festering away at the back of my collection for decades. Atrocious!
Avatar 2:05pm Mr Fab:

This episode's gonna really put the 'woof' into WFMU's 'Woof-Moo' logo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi everyone! connection with the Dutchlands has been established!
Avatar 2:06pm worldsworstrecords:

Lol! Hopefully :-)
Avatar 2:06pm worldsworstrecords:

Hey Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Rich in Washington:

I remember fairly recently asking my parents if they had that 60s dogs barking Jingle Bells record and their reaction told me that they had, and that my mother hated it and my dad thought it was hilarious, and something about the record disappearing somehow. I had clearly opened up an old wound.
Avatar 2:07pm worldsworstrecords:

haha! The Singing Dogs... a classic
Avatar 2:10pm Mr Fab:

Yep, I bought that "Jingle Bells" 45: Don Carlos and his Singing Dogs. The b side is the dogs singing 'O Susanna," apparently live, no tape trickery.
Avatar 2:12pm worldsworstrecords:

I've got the orginal UK 78 somewhere
Avatar 2:14pm Mr Fab:

"Doggie In the Window Limbo" really did literally have me LOL-ing.

Avatar 2:16pm worldsworstrecords:

This is one of my all-time favourite song poems... just nuts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Rich in Washington:

I'll bet lots of sound poems are about dead pets.
Avatar 2:17pm worldsworstrecords:

Oh yeah...
Avatar 2:18pm worldsworstrecords:

God, America, wife-beating husbands, sick children and dead animals
Avatar 2:18pm worldsworstrecords:

...and Elvis, of course
Avatar 2:20pm worldsworstrecords:

here's a singing dog for you...
Avatar 2:24pm worldsworstrecords:

I cheated a bit with this one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Jan Turkenburg:

it has dog in the title. that's always good enough for my theme shows...
Avatar 2:26pm worldsworstrecords:

Thanks Jan... it works for me!
Avatar 2:27pm Mr Fab:

Darryl previously played "Fluffy" on an earlier show:
Not just one of the best dog songs, one of the best songs, period!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Rich in Washington:

I have no Coiumbine records. I'm still looking, though!
Avatar 2:28pm worldsworstrecords:

You must be psychic Mr F... I was just about to mention that.
Avatar 2:29pm worldsworstrecords:

Cynthia Franz - Gloria Balsam - is just lovely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Rich in Washington:

I need to see that Off the Charts Song Poem documentary again. My favorite part is the old codger reading his love song lyrics out loud.
Avatar 2:30pm Mr Fab:

Darryl; Ha! Well, when I think of dog songs. that one occurs to me right away.
Avatar 2:30pm worldsworstrecords:

It's a great film
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Rich in Washington:

I thought he said he was talking to his old friend Hitler on the CB.
Avatar 2:30pm Mr Fab:

One of Columbine's "Now Sounds of Today" albums was the first song poem record I bought. But it was in the early '90s and I didn't know what song-poems were. Was I confused...
Avatar 2:32pm worldsworstrecords:

I picked up a job lot of Columbine EPS and 45s, all ex-radio station stuff. I've probably got over 100
Avatar 2:33pm worldsworstrecords:

"...my new eyes were standing at my feet"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Jan Turkenburg:

A lot of those "songs" have been adapted in Dutch by Gerard de Vries
Avatar 2:35pm Mr Fab:

that Red Sovine was amazing!
Avatar 2:36pm worldsworstrecords:

Jan.. Red Sovine's trucking songs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Jan Turkenburg:

"Cowboy Gerard"....
Avatar 2:36pm worldsworstrecords:

I know Mr F, stunning!
Avatar 2:36pm worldsworstrecords:

I'll have to check those out Jan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Jan Turkenburg:

Well, country music with somebody telling a story
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Jan Turkenburg:

Just pulled out Gerard, to see fro who the originals are
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Jan Turkenburg:

One of the songs I have was orinally by Red Sovine: Giddy Up Go
Avatar 2:39pm worldsworstrecords:

Ah yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Rich in Washington:

this is insane, Darryl!
Avatar 2:40pm Mr Fab:

trying to place the tune behind "Sausages"..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 2:41pm worldsworstrecords:

It's Wheels Cha Cha
Avatar 2:42pm worldsworstrecords:

Glad you approve, Rich!
Avatar 2:42pm Mr Fab:

"Wheels," yes! Don't know what that had to do with talking dogs, but, oh well...
Avatar 2:43pm worldsworstrecords:

Dogs chasing cars?
Avatar 2:43pm worldsworstrecords:

*clutching at straws*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Don't kill the puppy!!!!
Avatar 2:44pm worldsworstrecords:

Hey Georgy.. or should I say Twiggy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm dancing in spite of the sadness ... poor puppy :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've been listening in the background while finishing up editing, and then making some food :-)
Avatar 2:46pm worldsworstrecords:

I just sent out for tea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I don't blame you! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

What a fabulous title! :-)
Avatar 2:50pm worldsworstrecords:

Hey Jan, you mention Giddyup Go... I've a track coming up next from Wink Martindale, from his 1966 album Giddyup Go. How strange is that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Jan Turkenburg:

fascinating! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Rich in Washington:

I was always surprised to learn that Wink was a recording artists. He's mostly known here in the US - and by people my age - as a game show presenter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Rich in Washington:

I have on of his singles where he's delivering one of those 'I Am An American' type spoken word patriotic songs. It's pretty dumb, but in a good way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This dog is a goner too, isn't he? I'm bracing myself ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

He's a ghost dog!!!! NOOOOO!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Jan Turkenburg:

In the NL a lot of TV-hosts recorded the odd record as well. Some of which are hard to find. But I'm determined!
Avatar 2:57pm worldsworstrecords:

He's as dead as a dead dog, Georgy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Otis Fodder:

Been listening while working. Dog-gone-good-show today.
Avatar 2:58pm worldsworstrecords:

Cheers Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks for a wonderfull show, Darryl! amazing stuff again!
Avatar 2:59pm worldsworstrecords:

I love the Beach Boys, but my God those early albums are more filler than killer
Avatar 2:59pm worldsworstrecords:

Cheers Jan!
Avatar 2:59pm worldsworstrecords:

Georgy's up next...
Avatar 3:00pm worldsworstrecords:

See you all in a minute!
