Avatar 12:09am Jeff Conklin:

Can't see shit from here :/
Avatar 12:10am Eiderdown:

Its red-tinted and eclipsing out here in the Pac NW. Pretty cool...
Avatar 12:12am Eiderdown:

We are pretty lucky...it was overcast as hell earlier today
  12:17am opurt:

The clouds are parting enough here in San Jose, California to get an occasional decent view.
  12:17am zenkoan:

Perfect clear view in Texas. Looks like a big Mars
Avatar 12:23am slugluv1313:

still beautiful here in Hoboken . . . some clouds, but right above my building
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Santos L. Halper:

Beauteous down here in Savannah, as are the tunes, thanks Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Jinx:

just came inside here in Williamsburg, Va., where total was 12:12. can't articulate the proper superlative.
Avatar 12:30am JakeGould:

Hey! Don’t listen to the show a lot but this Paul Speer sounds like tolerable 1980s new agey stuff.
  12:34am markinbrooklyn:

Eclipse and crisp night air so beautiful in Brooklyn tonight. Thanks for providing soundtrack, Jeff!
Avatar 12:34am Jeff Conklin:

I dont eat at McDonalds a lot but these chicken nuggets are tolerable
  12:34am zenkoan:

LOVE Sensations Fix every time
Avatar 12:38am JakeGould:

Chicken nuggets are fine until cold.
  12:40am Agent Peter:

Pretty sure that the advent of the McRib is one of the signs of the Apocalypse.
Avatar 12:41am JakeGould:

And FWIW, I don’t hate the show. I usually am asleep by now to head to work tomorrow. But day off.
Avatar 12:42am Jeff Conklin:

@JakeGould: All good, Jake. I couldnt help but bust balls.
  12:43am sufferwords:

Genesis hell yes
Avatar 12:45am Franco Twinkie:

The moon was quite stunning above the SGV, but then the clouds rolled in from the beach, and BOOM, it was gone.
Avatar 12:46am JakeGould:

@Jeff: You should! And I like McDonald’s fries.
  12:46am larry of lackawack:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Santos L. Halper:

My toes is froze, and it looks like the moon is indeed coming back, so I'm off to bed. Thanks for the Genesis (forgot about this foreshadowing of I know what I like), keep busting balls Jeff! See you in the archive (and nice transition here : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am brycepunk1:

Beautiful experience tonight :)
Avatar 12:54am Jeff Conklin:

Smash that "like" button for Divided Sky goddamnit
  12:55am Dean:

Not much into "like" buttons. Maybe I'd respond to a "can't live without" button.

Learn to pronounce

  1:04am Johnzon:

"fish fish fish fish fish fish fish fish fish" is the name of the band?
Avatar 1:05am Eiderdown:

ha ha ha
  1:05am Dean:

My favorite Genesis album remains SEBTP. Song-wise, I still love "Twilight Alehouse," which is, I believe, contemporary with Trespass.

Used to spin that Osanna album quite a bit, and the Sensations Fix, and various Ashra and Harmonia records.
  1:06am Dean:

Krautrock is not *not* progressive rock. Geez, labels.
  1:08am Dean:

Connie Plank?
  1:09am Johnzon:

we're not going there! not going to label town! strictly off label!
  1:10am Dean:

Respectfully disagree.
  1:10am Johnzon:

I checked out the eclipse earlier thanks to the previous dj! thanks fmu! stood out in the street in the cold staring at the sky looking like an idiot... good times!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am brycepunk1:

Jeff... Respect
  1:12am Johnzon:

is that a challenge dean?! Ill meet you at high noon in front of the label town saloon... I got my price gun and my label remover ready baby!
Avatar 1:12am Jeff Conklin:

Respect all opinions about what is and what isn't something but ZERO desire to ever argue about it unless there's coffee and donuts around...
  1:13am Johnzon:

you should just play beer pong with the coffee and donuts instead... donut pong
Avatar 1:16am JakeGould:

Play beer checkers. It’s just like regular checkers, but whenever someone gets “Kinged” they drink a beer.
  1:16am Jeff Conklin:

Terrapin Station is progressive krautrock tho
  1:18am Dean:

As a matter of fact, there is a stale box of donuts just inches from where I type!

Really, I'm not interested in the classification of genres. However, in my experience at the time (from c.'72), we had no reason to distinguish in terms of genre SF from, say, Guru Guru or Kraan or Jane or Release Music Orchestra or Grobschnitt or (and here's where it gets weird) Epitaph.

The term "Krautrock" has become, I think, a very recent way to focus on, e.g., Neu, Harmonia, Cluster, when in fact they weren't producing work designed to support that distinction.
  1:19am Jeff Conklin:

I hear you dean. Just busting balls. Epitaph and Can don’t belong in the same room. Man I can’t get into Grobschnitt
Avatar 1:20am Franco Twinkie:

The moon situation has improved over my house. The only clouds now are a translucent glowing moisture glob around the moon itself. Half eclipsed.
  1:20am Dean:

I agree two thousand percent about Terrapin Station being the whole mess whisked together.

Early Grobschnitt. Give it a good listen.
Avatar 1:21am gregorianpants:

Terrapin Station is at least prog imo
Avatar 1:24am Franco Twinkie:

Bob can really be a mood spoiler sometimes.
  1:24am Johnzon:

the translucent glowing moisture globs are my favorite kraut-prog band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am brycepunk1:

Ugh... defining genre is like defining race: eventually, when you get down to the DNA of the individual (song/person) it's just an individual. No specific definition holds up under scrutiny... perfect circle and all that..
Avatar 1:25am JakeGould:

Outside of Geddy Lee, there are few women in prog.
  1:25am Dean:

Annie Fucking Haslam
Avatar 1:26am Jeff Conklin:

Bob spoils nothing here! (But I agree he can with the Marty Robbins shit)
Avatar 1:27am Franco Twinkie:

The tiger walks with a limp.
  1:30am Dean:

My sense is that Bob has a charisma over which he has little control, while Jerry's charisma is immaculate. So, from time to time Bob gives the impression that he's working, where Jerry simply moves along to the next passage.
Avatar 1:31am Franco Twinkie:

No disrespect. This is good one.
Avatar 1:32am Jeff Conklin:

You're not a real deadhead if all of the members didnt annoy you every now and again, imo
  1:34am Dean:

Analogously, I guess I'm a real family man.
Avatar 1:35am Franco Twinkie:

Long after I left home my mom would say: "The Grateful Dead sent you more junk in the mail."
Avatar 1:37am Jeff Conklin:

Hope you went back and got the junk mail and saved it?
  1:37am Dean:

Franco, today has been a traumatic "my mom" day, involving ERs and, so I thought, prospects of mortality. I am SO HAPPY to be able to hear this set right now.
Avatar 1:38am Jeff Conklin:

Hope everythings ok, Dean.
  1:39am Dean:

Thank you, Jeff. Everything is okay.
Avatar 1:40am Jeff Conklin:

My poor dad's oil burner stopped working tonight. Talk about a nightmare. Thankfully hes got a wood stove!
Avatar 1:42am Franco Twinkie:

Sorry to hear that, Dean. All though she is nuttier that a fruitcake, my own mother is physically pretty good still.
Avatar 1:48am Franco Twinkie:

Moon report: Super bright with just a corner nipped off.
  1:49am Dean:

We need to care for our parents. So hard.
Avatar 1:50am Eiderdown:

Gotta go bed, catch the rest in the archive. Great to be hanging in Label-town with y'all :) GOOD night moon!
Avatar 1:50am Jeff Conklin:

Night, Adam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58am brycepunk1:

Gonna agree with you on that
Avatar 1:59am Franco Twinkie:

Jeff, after that revelation, I must go to bed.
  2:01am old ERIC thee hat:

I think it’s because of the twitter thing...
  2:01am old ERIC thee hat:

I’m stickin w you cause I’m made out of glue.
Avatar 2:03am Franco Twinkie:

When I know You Rider got all tinkly with Keith, I started to drift.
Avatar 2:10am Franco Twinkie:

Actually I agree with you. I don't really care for those two songs either. Hunter can evoke bathos sometimes. Gimme the bleak pronouncements in New Speedway Boogie any day.
  2:37am Johnzon:

Im a boooozer... and I drank to much beer and now I gotta peeee
Avatar 2:47am Adamsworth:

hey fellas, Hows' it going, ha ha
  2:51am Ajay:

Amazing Jerry Moore track
  2:55am miles:

I don't remember this New Morning cut
Avatar 9:16pm jaywbabcock:

Superb opening hour, Jeff. So great to hear that Genesis right in there.
