Helloo Pseu!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Krys O.:

Howdy, Pseu and everyone!
  12:04pm Doobois:

So many gems on that BW album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm zpulpa:

Does anyone have any over the ear headphone recommendations?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm heyitschris:

My only suggestion maybe would get open back headphones if you're using for exercise or outdoor use in general. Closed back get too hot for me. If using in a studio get closed back for sure. Can't recommend what I'm currently using.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

CAROL!!
Avatar 12:13pm Dominick:

Yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Krys O.:

YES! Loved Carol in Skiddoo. She was the best part.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Hughie Considine:

may she rest in peace
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Carol Channing died 25 years to the day Harry Nilsson died and here they are together!!!!
  12:13pm sugarwolf:

RIP Carol!!!
Avatar 12:14pm dale:

goodbye dolly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Fox:

Halloooooo.
Swag For Life Member 12:14pm drew:

Skiddoo? Is that from the movie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Jim H:

Yes, @dale: Goodbye, Dolly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

She is the best part of Skidoo, other than the "Scrambled eggs," remark.
Avatar 12:17pm Roberto:

Carol Channing's son went to my high school. Before my time though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Barney Grubbs:

this morning I started reading about Carol Channing on wikipedia, which lead to Hello, Dolly!, which led to learning about Louis Armstrong's recording knocking Can't Buy Me Love off the top of the Billboard charts, which lead my discovery that Away from Voivod was in the band Men Without Hats in the early 90s, which was weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Jim H:

I need to know about papercuts. That is all.
  12:24pm Mr. Palchepo.:

That is weird Barney.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Hughie Considine:

This is a great song that I like very much.
Avatar 12:30pm Neanderthal Head:

Yeah, cool song. Muy zombies.
  12:30pm The Donut King:

Hooray, it's Tuesday noontime!
  12:33pm The Donut King:

Re: over-the-ear headphones...kind of depends on where you'd like to use them. Sennheiser HD555s can be gotten used on eBay for $35-50 and are super nice, but they're a bit too big for out and about wear.
Avatar 12:43pm Marshall Stacks:

New Zealand is a sovereign country, not under control of Australia.
Avatar 12:43pm Neanderthal Head:

I'm against marriage and divorce.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Uncle Michael:

What Marshall said. jeeeez, Pseu.
  12:44pm Johnzon:

yea I was gonna say. They were both part of the British thing so... think they're both "commonwealth" countries? so maybe that's what you're thinking of? so basically they're both part of Canada
  12:45pm chris:

LIDL and ALDI have the same owner!
Avatar 12:46pm HarktheUmpire:

www.youtube.com...
Avatar 12:47pm Marshall Stacks:

Separate owners, who are brothers.
Like Adidas and Puma, must be a German thing?
  12:47pm mink:

Do all americans say "lie-dal"? In the UK we say "liddle"... ergo the spoof stealers wheel song "stuck in a Lidl with you"
  12:48pm cee dubbles:

for you Pseu Brauniacs outside the NYC area...https://www.google.com/amp/amp.timeinc.net/cookinglight/healthy-living/home/what-is-the-difference-between-aldi-and-lidl
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

A friend of mine once interviewed Carol Channing (sometime in the past 10-20 years) and found out that Carol had never actually seen the film "Skidoo!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Jim H:

We only have ALDI here in ATL. I've heard it's rhymes with Beetle, also.
Avatar 12:49pm HarktheUmpire:

@chris: not last time I checked. In Germany, Aldi is divided into Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd, each owned by one of the Albrecht brothers. Lidl is owner by Dieter Schwarz.
  12:50pm The Donut King:

In the Netherlands and German, it's LEE-dul
  12:50pm Johnzon:

they also own trader joes in a very confusing joint custody thingamajig... aldis europe owns trader joes US and Aldis US owns trader Joe's europe. but trader Joe's is "just doing their own thing"... so emancipated? essentially? these grocery store chain divorces can get so confusing
Avatar 12:52pm HarktheUmpire:

Supposedly, there is a correct way to pronounce Lidl. Sounds kinda British to me though: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Uncle Michael:

The world needs ALL the Van Duren.
  12:55pm Johnzon:

I grew up in Fargo ND where the local grocery store Hornbachers is often referred to as "Hornies"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Jim H:

There's a Publix about a mile from my house, and that's where I'm headed now. So I've got that going for me. Be back in a bit!
  1:00pm chris:

hmm interesting, could have sworn they were both from the same family business. thanks for pointing that out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Uncle Michael:

I will not talk about supermarkets.
  1:05pm Johnzon:

good call
Avatar 1:05pm Neanderthal Head:

pseu digs the comments board.
  1:06pm The Donut King:

Doubling down!
Avatar 1:07pm HarktheUmpire:

Whoa... I live in Germany, and never heard a German pronounce it like that
  1:08pm listener christoph:

It's pronounced "Leedl"
  1:08pm foreign_listener_k:

Yep - I'm in Germany too, and it is pronounced 'lee del' (well, the 'del' is less than perfect)
  1:09pm Oregon Seth:

Can u do a kiwi accent too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Uncle Michael:

But Pseu, we turn to you in these troubled times.
Avatar 1:09pm HarktheUmpire:

yup, with a short "ee", if that makes sense. I suppose the sound doesn't really exist in english
  1:09pm mink:

I stand corrected! :-D But sadly I need to still call it liddle because lie-dal sounds super posh and I would be severely mocked
  1:10pm listener christoph:

Right, Lee-del. But then, this is America and we don't say München either!
Avatar 1:10pm HarktheUmpire:

that german lady played you for a fool, Pseu!
Avatar 1:10pm Pseu Braun:

f*cksakes i'm telling you what the german lady said
  1:11pm The Donut King:

I say this with a certain degree of affection, but Germans can be difficult (and I'm of German descent!)
  1:11pm John from Florham Park:

Pseu you hurt my virgin ears(G)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Uncle Michael:

Don't mention the war.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Hughie Considine:

Never argue with a German if you're tired.
  1:12pm foreign_listener_k:

Lee' definitely exists in English, but the 'ee' is considered long, actually. The e sound in 'let' is considered short
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Krys O.:

There's an Italian bakery in my hometown Neri's and we always pronounced it as NERR-EEZ. However, younger folks in the family insist that it is NERR-EYES. You know, like Leonardo DAVINCH-EYE. Language, spelling and pronunciation is soooo variable, said the woman with a complicated Polish last name. :) Chill out, posters.
Avatar 1:12pm Neanderthal Head:

oh, damn, that's my kind of guitar.
  1:14pm foreign_listener_k:

To be honest, it is entirely possible that Lidl has decided to call itself differently in the U.S. - the e / i confusion between German and English is large
  1:14pm say what?:

Ha! must be an impostor working for Laidel! everyone knows it is Leedel
  1:15pm foreign_listener_k:

And Lidl is not liddle, it is a really big chain
  1:17pm matador:

Listening in from Exarchia Sq Athina. Greece
Avatar 1:17pm Pseu Braun:

ok, i internetted this shitstorm that is "Lidl" and you are all pretty much correct in that I was LIE-DL'd to by that Madchen
  1:18pm foreign_listener_k:

Who says Germans don't have a sick sense of humor?
Avatar 1:19pm Neanderthal Head:

just in time for this fascinating debate, @matador!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Fox:

I wish ALDI style stores were more popular here. I fucking hate when other people bag my stuff, especially in the ridiculous amount of plastic bags they use. I love the process. It's wonderfully German, and appeals to my love of order and process.
  1:24pm brainiac:

The Astral Drive number could have been a Todd Rundgren tune in a parallel universe.
  1:24pm Johnzon:

it's liddies.
  1:24pm foreign_listener_k:

In the U.S., Aldi likely has to use bags, at least for alcohol purchases - in Virginia, I was not able to leave the store just carrying a six pack
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Pesu. Great show today. Regular listener, and starting to jump into chat on shows. Hey, work, take a backseat, I'm chatting on FMU. Loved you played Michael Rault. Cheers from Montreal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, I can't type. Pseu. Doh! More coffee.
Avatar 1:28pm Roberto:

Your pronunciation of pronunciation was a little off just now.
Avatar 1:28pm James Douglas:

Little Miss Information.
  1:31pm John from Florham Park:

Pseu we still love your miss pronouncing self
  1:35pm mink:

Yeah so apparently the english say it wrong because we shorten the "ee" sound to a short "i" sound. So, I was wrong, but you were wronger, hah :p
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Mike Sin:

Van Duren was another one of those artists that I read about a bunch of times -- in relation to Big Star/Ardent and all that --before I picked up the album. Should not have waited! Speaking of which, has anyone here seen the movie, "Waiting - The Van Duren Story"? I haven't...
  1:38pm Chi Bill:

Woah, what'd I miss about pickled people?
  1:39pm mink:

could be worse, I'm learning Welsh, all their vowels are different. U's are i's, y's are u's, and I still haven't fully figured out 'wy' yet, I think it might be 'oo'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Krys O.:

One of my roommates in Paris was a young German guy named Peter. He ALWAYS corrected how I pronounced his name.
  1:47pm mink:

How did he pronounce it? Like Pita?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Krys O.:

Always like Kim Wilde.
  1:48pm John from Florham Park:

Sorry this song is too poppy for me
  1:48pm foreign_listener_k:

'Payter' - not that hard, unless he cared about the second syllable.

And yeah, Kim Wilde is really fun to listen to doing Motown, regardless of version.
Avatar 1:48pm dale:

there's an aldi's up here - i don't see what's special about it. i don't get target either. then again my wife doesn't see why i go to harbor freight so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Uncle Michael:

the world needs more Matthew Sweet covers.
  1:50pm John from Florham Park:

@foreign Motown is not really my cup of coffee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Krys O.:

@foreign_listener_k: Yes, it was the second syllable.
  1:52pm John from Florham Park:

@uncle I go for Matt sweet covers
  1:52pm mcgreivey:

Matthew Sweet coverable: Room to Rock
  1:53pm listener monica:

hiya!
  1:55pm foreign_listener_k:

Well, you can have an American speak German - you just cannot have an American speak German without sounding like their mouth is full of hot potatoes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Pseu & Alles Hooker-Things.
Don't think I'll dip my toe into all the controversies, today. Will enjoy the music and oratories, though!
  1:57pm foreign_listener_k:

They were just Lidl controversies - nothing major
  2:13pm The Donut King:

Push Kings. Right on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Krys O.:

Once again, Pseu, your show is like a balm on the festering sore of a bad day. Pseu's Thing with a Hook HEALS!
  2:33pm Mike tp:

popped in on the Rose garden.the bell rang an old friend .I'm back.sounding nice Pseu.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Jim H:

I first thought Aldi was Italian because of the song Al di la.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Krys O.:

Ditto, Jim H!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Jim H:

Isn't it Shop Ree-tay in German?
Avatar 2:42pm Dominick:

Shop Rite is da bomb!
  2:42pm Listener Robert:

Ms. Braun, are you talking straight into the red microphone? That one has to be talked sideways to. We know about the problem popping p's with it, but now your s's are, uh, sawing wood?
  2:46pm Listener Robert:

Or maybe it's my WMFU reception. There was a time last year when I blamed the engineering of a live set on Todd's show. Then I listened to the archive and it was perfect, so the problem had to have been over the air here on 90.1.
  2:47pm Mike tp:

enjoying the gemini se!ection.hoping metro area don't get the iceee bad roads this weekend..
