Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Richard S:

This is so hypnotic and relaxing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm dale:

north guinea - NOT shriner's club!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm Richard S:

Fezzes are cool. Mini cars are environmentally friendly

Hey Dan!!!
Avatar 7:27pm northguineahills:

@dale: don't they raise money for children burn victims??? (ok, that was tasteless w/ no payoff).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm dale:

i don't know. the children's hospital ones that showcase the kids with flipper arms and no leg and birth defects is shriner's hospital.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm chris:

hi everyone. i have no idea what's being said in the Zabol recording, but its absolutely captivating and beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm dale:

this music is sublime. iranian? afghan? saudi?
Avatar 7:34pm Dan Bodah:

@dale & chris, the singer is Azeri from Azerbaijan -- Alim Qasimov, sometimes called the greatest singer in the world.
Avatar 7:35pm northguineahills:

@dale: Azerbaijan???
Avatar 7:35pm northguineahills:

@Dan: d'oh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm chris:

not certain i have a strong argument against that rather bold claim, Dan.
Avatar 7:38pm northguineahills:

Based on the names, my other guess would have been Uzbekistan.
  Swag For Life Member 7:38pm bleubombersune:

Music to ride your camel on “The STEPPES of CENTRAL ASIA”. sorry Borodin
Avatar 7:40pm ranjit:

I'm going to Golden Fest on Friday for the first time ever (even though I've lived near Prospect Hall for ages)! I'm excited!
Avatar 7:41pm Dan Bodah:

@ranjit, jealous! It's so good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm dale:

i used to drive by prospect hall in the 80s and early 90s when it was mainly a cheesy wedding venue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm chresti:

Avatar 7:44pm Dan Bodah:

@dale, isn't it still? My kid's middle school graduation was there last year and wow it's gaudy in there! But a great venue for the Golden Fest -- I saw Georgian and Balkan polyphonic singers and amazing groups there a couple of years back.
Avatar 7:45pm northguineahills:

@dale: in the 2000s/2010s I went to a cool show at Prospect Hall, a wedding (I was invited to), and one I crashed (picnic wine got the best of my friends of mine, it was fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm chresti:

I like Yat-Kha's version of Play With Fire.

“The Grand Prospect Hall” is fine. It’s gaudy for the right reasons. Very old school Brooklyn and a throwback to when that specific part of the “South Slope” used to be very Polish and Eastern European.
