Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

just you and me today, I guess
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm chresti:

Hello David and Ridgewood universe!
  3:06pm Feek:

Hello, I'm someone else who is listening, in Dublin, Ireland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm david w:

Hello chresti and welcome to Feek, both of you a long way from here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm steveo:

looks like i was wrong again :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm david w:

steveo, I only remember you being wrong once before, but it was a minor offense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm chresti:

steveo- you were right for a minute...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm steveo:

that's my usual average
  3:20pm David Coverdale's Prick:

Hi everyone, what have I missed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm david w:

Hello Coverdale... basically, three hellos, one confession, and Tuvan singers.
  3:23pm David Coverdale's Prick:

appreciate the swift response
  3:23pm Feek:

The Tuvan singers were great. And this current track is pleasant to do tedious photoshop work to.
Avatar 3:24pm Sem:

Hello, David, Ruth, the Ridgewood ensemble, and all. Everything here is always new to me, so new to you too is especially engaging. Just now taking a chair in the orgone box and letting the sounds wash over me.
  3:25pm David Coverdale's Prick:

which David?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Ike:

Sounds good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm david w:

Thanks, Feek. I think the trend of this show will continue to massage your clicking hand.
  3:26pm David Coverdale's Prick:

Anyone else in love with the African American chick from the Grammarly ads?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm david w:

Welcome Sem and Ike. Wash away!
Avatar 3:32pm northguineahills:

New Jimbo O'Rourke & friends, nice! I thought he only would do music this day for sndtrks (wife has a major crush on him).
Avatar 3:33pm northguineahills:

Don't know U-zhaan…. but it works!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm david w:

Hey, ngh! O'Rourke keeps adding and subtracting projects but I never tire...
Avatar 3:44pm northguineahills:

What I like about Jim, he's very friendly. He talked to me many times at Tonic and would say hi to me on the street (before he moved to Tokyo). The last time I saw him was at Other Music where he had a vinyl copy of Naked City's "Leng T'che" in front of me online.
  3:46pm David Coverdale's Prick:

u mean in line
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm david w:

O'Rourke is curious. In every sense.
Avatar 3:52pm northguineahills:

errr.., in line.
Avatar 3:53pm northguineahills:

Not familiar w/ Cecilia Lopez, gneissness!
  3:54pm David Coverdale's Prick:

she's overrated
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm david w:

New album, major commission... Cecilia Lopez will emerge big time this year and you all can decide for yourselves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm steveo:

wouldn't "David Coverdale's Whitesnake" be funnier?
Avatar 4:07pm northguineahills:

Taking all of my old cheeses, and making macaroni w/ Nigerian curry, my tomatoes, chilies, poblanos, and veggies....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm steveo:

love this Joeseph; it speaks to me of shining out through the winter bleak
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm david w:

OH, ngh. I'm living on a tuna sandwich right now. You're killing me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm coelacanth∅:

hello david & others
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm david w:

Dan Joseph is playing tomorrow night at a joint called Nha Minh in Williamsburg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm david w:

coelacanth∅! good to see you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Stanley:

Is this some new adventurous experimental music I hear?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm david w:

No, its neo-retro post-ambient futurism.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm david w:

Hello, Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm steveo:

i can't make it, unfortunately. you might call ahead, though; google and yelp seem to think nha minh is permanently closed
Avatar 4:14pm northguineahills:

Dan Joseph, also new to me, and digdug!

@david w: I played at Nha Minh right before I left. They have amazing Vietnamese food! (their PA wasn't working at the time, and the usual guy that knows the system wasn't there, so I had to ask a friend to bring me a PA).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm david w:

Uh oh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Stanley:

Hello David
Avatar 4:18pm northguineahills:

@david: quarter of my office got laid off, so, I can focus on cooking for the time being.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm david w:

Matt Mottel, who is curating, sent this link for the Nha Minh gig:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Webhamster Henry:

I've been napping, but woke up for the hammered dulcimer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm Webhamster Henry:

It's funny , I was thinking this morning a survey of XI recordings would be nice! especially after this morning's Blurred and Obscured fill-in show.
Avatar 4:21pm northguineahills:

Yeah, it was Matt who got me the gig...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm chresti:

I've not heard the blurred and obscured show, may be too early for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm david w:

@Henry, the XI collection is great, and hopefully more from the Experimental Intermedia archives can be released one day. 45 years!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Webhamster Henry:

@cresti this morning, it was a fill-in for Ken, it's up in the archives now: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm chresti:

Thanks Webhamster Henry, I have a lot of catching up to do with the shows I've missed...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Webhamster Henry:

@davidw Experimental Intermedia was one of the arts groups (along with WFMU, the American Festival of Microtonal Music, Experimental Musical Instruments, Harvestworks and more) that I maintained on the ECHO gopher. I was always conscious of new XI releases!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm david w:

I remember ECHO. Fabulous. Important. Nice work!
Avatar 4:34pm geezerette:

Hello,David & Ruth!
Gorgeous Goldfinger. :)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Michael 98145:

Also love Frisell's cover of "You Only Live Twice."

(hey, gz'ette)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm steveo:

ok, so I guess Matt did confirm it's open. Sorry for the confusion. I also found an instagram post from 7 hours ago. www.instagram.com...
  4:41pm Mark R:

Henry, that's actually Scott McDowell's regular spot. Ken took the Fall schedule off this year to focus on the massive construction project at 43 Montgomery Street, along with all the other fiascos he must try to corral. I'm going to assume he'll return to the schedule when things have settled down a little. Blurred and Obscured Jonathan used to have a regular overnight 3-6 am show. There's more talent than time slots at this station--an enviable dilemma to have, I suppose.
Avatar 4:44pm northguineahills:

I was outside in my garden, came inside, and immediately knew it was Daniel Carter (old friend and collaborator of mine, and a special person of the universe!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm david w:

Thanks, steveo and 98145, you are right on... Mark R, thanks also. Folks may not be aware of the construction disruptions at FMU.
Avatar 4:47pm geezerette:

Howdy, Michael! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Michael 98145:

the woof-moo physical plant looks somewhat -distressed- ... www.instagram.com...
