A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Mornin'! Funny, I was just listening to a podcast about Sinatra's efforts to end the Hollywood blacklist on my way to work this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02am zopa:

Am I naive, or was Deano the nicest of the pack?

Morning Trouble and listeners, that Palazuelo painting reminds me a bit of John Covert. Thanks for the introduction.
Avatar 9:16am Diezel Tea:

  9:38am Peter in SEA:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am The Oscar:

I think that was the first film I saw Tilda in. Has there ever been a role so perfectly suited to an actor?

Hello Trouble! Ice on the Hudson… A fire in the sky… Ice on the Hudson, doo doo doo… doo… doo… duh… doo…

My favorite part is when s/he is watching an early performance of Othello and at the climax, s/he turns to the camera and says "terrific play!"
Avatar 9:42am Roberto:

My father adores Frank.
  9:43am Peter in SEA:

Ha ha and Big Mama brings her purse on stage and puts it on a soda crate! Amazing, thank YOU for putting that in front of my lenses.
Avatar 9:44am jt:

There is also the Frank Sinatra bio: "The Way You wear Your Hat"
Which by title alone MUST be the best one .. it's on my list.
  9:45am JakeGould:

Frank Sinatra is beloved—by me and others—but did he sing “Dominick the Donkey?”
  9:45am Kerbo:

learning the fingeripick for this song is such a great guitar workout.
Nick Drake always sounds good in the winter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am karlward:

Shout out to Robert Kirby, who did these wonderful string arrangements on Drake's songs.
Avatar 9:47am jt:

Frank could also act, he was very good in his dramatic roles.. he wasn't a half bad Ab-ex painter either, kinda 'Hans Hoffman-Esque' As celebrity oil painters go I think he was one ion the better ones.
  9:48am Peter in SEA:

T: Going to see Dina Martina tonight! usually you play your Dina xmas track before we see her but seems like it might be the other way round this year ;-)
Avatar 9:48am northguineahills:

As an undergrad in the film club, I lobbied that we show Orlando at the university theater....

Digging the "Crazy Horses" synth on this track!
Avatar 10:37am Trouble:

we named our local backyard feral cat prince spooky
Avatar 10:42am northguineahills:

There are two feral tabbies that wander outside my office. They're still juveniles, and I'm tempted to take them home, but I'm afraid what they'd do to my meager possessions. My brother found a friendly feral cat, and loves it (and he hates cats, usually). Not sure if I'd be so lucky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am sphere:

@NGH - Are the ferals friendly?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am Itzall Ablurr:

northguineahills, please contact a local TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) program where you live; even if you can't personally take these cats into your home (and it is a big commitment) you could make sure they don't make more and hopefully get a clean bill of health for release back into their environment. (this PSA brought to you by TrapKing, ltd.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am steveo:

we have two rescue cats who live with us in our apartment and one of them is super afraid of us -- it is tough
  10:51am Slaboch:

Great set!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am The Oscar:

One of our local record shops posted this the other week: www.instagram.com...
Avatar 10:53am northguineahills:

@sphere: They're are wary of me, I usually can get ferals to approach me for belly rubs.

@Itzal: The humane society is just a few blocks away, I may do so.

I heart this chandra!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am steveo:

well i can understand why this has 20 clickystars!
Avatar 10:54am Trouble:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Itzall Ablurr:

It can take YEARS (or maybe never) for once-ferals to become trusting, no matter how good you treat them. THAT is why they survive. "Our" kitteh is super-lovey with us and a very few of our friends but still goes feral and scrambles when a stranger comes into our home. N.G.H., not sure if the humans humane offer TNR but they may. I know they've got their paws full.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am mauri:

woudewou this sounds good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am steveo:

@I.A. yeah; we hope Julius will someday trust us more
  11:03am jess:

I feed feral cats. they come to me because they know me and I have food. there's a kitten there now, where I feed, that someone dumped. I don't know how I'm going to catch her to be fixed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am steveo:

maybe a vet or a shelter or someone has a trap you can borrow?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am zpulpa:

"Flee Scratch Scary"???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Itzall Ablurr:

I'mma cheat a little and drop this link but it's all about the cats! Check this out, you may learn a few things about T-N-R and possibly find a local resource to help. It's important, y'all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am The Oscar:

Scratch Perry would be a pretty good name (or at least a nickname) for a little troublemaker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Webhamster Henry:

Sorry I missed the Spiegel - but I have it anyway.
Avatar 11:11am βrian:

Meetings over; time for Trouble.
  11:12am Nick K (Killer):

Yeah and you scumbag politicians banned hi cap magazines and made a lot of people felons overnight, this won’t change anything criminals don’t follow gun laws anyhow
  11:12am Gnat:

in PA we desperately needed redistricting because we're so heavily gerrymandered.... NJ should do what organizers in PA are trying to do and create an independent redistricting committee
Avatar 11:14am northguineahills:

tomasz bednarczyk , new to me!
Avatar 11:15am βrian:

@Gnat: Michigan did that, too, from what I read. The Republicants didn't like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Passaic River Blues:

@Gnat & Brian: Republicans have an ingrained distrust for anything that smacks of representative democracy.
