Sounds like it. Originally unreleased until it was on a comp in 1987.

Hi spacebrother! Hi Mr. Fab! Hi recordroulletteclub! Swell show today!
Avatar 7:09pm

I guess Loudermilk was the composer.

15 minutes late and I see Connie Francis was here, was hoping to catch her and tell her I'm not a scientist.
Avatar 7:15pm
spacebrother:

Thanks Rich!
Avatar 7:15pm
spacebrother:

I sometimes wonder with these translations if there is any relationship to the original. I hear Spanish and French covers that wander pretty far afield.
Avatar 7:17pm
Mr Fab:

True. "Ce Plane Pour Moi" and "Jet Boy Jet Girl" are completely different lyrics. (Same band on both, I recently learned)
Avatar 7:17pm
spacebrother:

Hey Otis!
Avatar 7:17pm
spacebrother:

I have about 5 versions of Jet boy/ Ca plane. Will play on a show.

Mr Fab:

Is this Charlie Linville on your wind-up gramophone
Avatar 7:18pm
spacebrother:

apparently the producer in the studio just decided to make 2 records with the same band and music and different lyrics.
Avatar 7:19pm
Otis Fodder:

Hey Hey. By the way, love that Connie Francis song, will back-listen to hear you first dj break and the starting songs. Just got back from the grocery. I'm going to make cookies later tonight from scratch. I would share, if shoving cookies in usb ports was a thing.

Sonic Youth covered that tune! and Thee Headcoatees.
Avatar 7:20pm

I love this song, every version. I aspire to be the 1432 Hero!!
Avatar 7:20pm

I have a German schlager version.
Avatar 7:20pm

I sure have gotten to appreciate 60s/early 70s country in my advanced age.
Avatar 7:27pm
Mr Fab:

We just lost Roy recently. One of those guys who i was surprised was still alive in the first place
Avatar 7:27pm

Abe Vigoda syndrome.

Irony and sentimentality in the same breath.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm

Oh, man! I'm experiencing AV syndrome all over the place! I thought the same thing about Roy but then, I think that about a lot of people. 'cept Pete Shelley. That one came out of the blue.

Me too. Love sneaking in the sentimental songs on shows.
Avatar 7:30pm
Otis Fodder:

Ah, I see the connection with the 5-spot bill! Watch out Abe, your EYES!!
Avatar 7:30pm
Mr Fab:

I was raised with classic country. My folks had lots of Johnny Cash, old cowboy songs, Marty Robbins, etc. So I always kinda liked this stuff. I was probly the only one of my punker friends who recognized Wall of Voodoo's "Ring of Fire" as a JC cover.

Gonna turn you lost soul mafaws on to Canada’s answer to Johnny Cash if you dig late 60’s early ‘70’s country- check out absolutely anything by Stompin’ Tom Connors- Trust me you will not be disappointed. Also check out the film “Across this Land with Stompin’Tom Connors” Live at the Horseshi..Horeshoe Tavern in Toronto with David Cronenberg in an early production credit. Popeye meets Hasil Adkins!
Avatar 7:38pm
spacebrother:

I created the image for the show, actually. Pretty crude, but gets the job done.
Avatar 7:38pm

Thank you Mike. Excellent!

Yes, Captain Mike. Love Stompin' Tom! Discovered him when I moved to Canada a decade back. For sure, no disappointment!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm

Ah. I think I heard about him when Doug N' Bob McKenzie did this fake radio appearance, promo thing, like a packaged fake appearance at 'your' radio station and they played records. When D&B were huge, had that LP.

It's surprisingly hard to do an hour show when you're used to 2-3 hours. It's like landing on a short runway with a 747.
But I am slowly getting the pace of it.
Avatar 7:54pm
spacebrother:

Perfect analogy. I am overcommitted to other stuff (Like my interview show/ podcast) and didn't want to be responsible for more than 1 hour.
