Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Hello all... I'm trying out new streaming software today so let me know if anything seems "off". Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm steveo:

loud 'n' clear, cap'n! and hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Dave in Vermont:

Hocker is so "on".
  3:05pm chresti:

Hello!
Avatar 3:07pm david w:

Thanks steveo and D in V and hello chresti. Off and running....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm listener james from westwood:

Howdy, Ridgewoodians and all!
Avatar 3:08pm Sem:

Hello, David, Ruth, the Ridgewood cadre, and listeners. Retiring now to the hammock, sleep shades on, ears open wide for the duration.
Avatar 3:10pm david w:

Welcome, james. And Sem! You have the right idea for this one.
Avatar 3:10pm fred:

Good afternoon David, Ruth and listeners
Avatar 3:12pm david w:

Honorable Fred, nice to see you...
Avatar 3:13pm david w:

You will hear a good bit of Skip LaPlante's homemade xylophones in just intonation. Lovely.
Avatar 3:14pm fred:

It's been a while. Many shows, dance for the most part, with a heavy share going to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. I have another dance show next week, then I should be there more often
Avatar 3:17pm david w:

Indeed, fred. We can usually guess correctly where you've been! Hope it was all fabulous.
Avatar 3:22pm fred:

Most of it was, with a highlight being Rain, with Ictus playing Steve Reich's Music for 18 musicians live in front of the stage
Avatar 3:25pm TDK60:

Hello.
  3:25pm northguineahills:

No internet at work right now, listening via the phone.
  3:26pm heinseng:

This DING climbs above the underdog.
Avatar 3:27pm TDK60:

I think this is the first time I've listened to this show, usually am not around computers at this time.
Avatar 3:27pm david w:

That's a wow, fred. And hello to TDK60 and the indefatigable NGH.
Avatar 3:28pm david w:

heinseng has been peeking at the Mingus autobiography!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Webhamster Henry:

It's my old pal Skip! He's going to be auctioning off his chime set for charity, which is made up of all kinds of metallic detritus
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Webhamster Henry:

@David are you trying "Audio Hijack" which is replacing "Nicecast"? I just did that too .. it's an interesting transition. It means I have to run a separate icecast server myself, boo.
Anyway, it seems to be working!
Avatar 3:31pm david w:

Yes, Henry. From forks and spoons to refrigerator bins, all carefully selected in sets and often tuned.
Avatar 3:32pm david w:

And yes again, Hijack appears to work (exhale).
Avatar 3:33pm northguineahills:

After 2 hours of w/o internet I'm back. Missed Mary as my phone connection was at one bar and I didn't want to lose all music. I had to go outside, to get a signal just to tune in here (and went back inside once I had a connection)>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Webhamster Henry:

I can't tell you how much I miss going to shows like this.
I could have gone up to the Dreamfest last weekend, but i was up in Troy at the C.R.A.I.V.E. lab, which was inaccessible to me.
Avatar 3:34pm northguineahills:

I almost thought that was Shayna Dulberger listed there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Webhamster Henry:

Skip and I and a few others put on a Microtonal fest at SUNY Ulster back in March.
Avatar 3:36pm david w:

@TDK60... you've picked an odd one to start with here. I play long sets, but really never 2 hours of one thing.
Avatar 3:38pm david w:

Che Chen has tuned a 1979 Rhodes electric piano in just intonation for next week's annual DING on 19 Dec. And Skip will be there too.
Avatar 3:40pm northguineahills:

Wish I was there, Henry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Stanley:

I'm late to the percussion party.
Avatar 3:42pm david w:

Ah, Stanley. My middle is my beginning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm steveo:

i keep turning to the left to look for a xylophone
Avatar 3:54pm david w:

Behind you!
Avatar 4:08pm northguineahills:

"My Ding-a-ling, my Ding-a-ling" (ok, I'll show myself out now)....
Avatar 4:11pm david w:

Ha. No, I asked for it...
  4:23pm spadine:

moved to ridgewood dec. 1st, just to be closer to the bell tower on catalpa, and save my train fare to ding!
Avatar 4:24pm david w:

spadine fine fellow, your lovely bell solo comes up next.
  4:26pm spadine:

oh no! i wouldve enjoyed it, but now i know its me....... :) Hi David, HI Ruth :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm steveo:

is the bell tower also part of the performance?
Avatar 4:30pm david w:

If anybody could make that happen, it would be spadine.
Avatar 4:33pm northguineahills:

Now I have an itch for a Hermann Nitsch aktionist bloodbath w/ bell towers.... (ok, I could do w/o the blood sacrifice).
Avatar 4:37pm david w:

There was a ritual feel to the show, but it was gentle for the most part.
Avatar 4:51pm northguineahills:

I got to get my wife to go to the next Ding show, you said it was the 19th?
Avatar 4:52pm Sem:

Grateful for this broadcast and the artists who created the concert. Thank you, DW, and all @ Ridgewood Radio.
Avatar 4:52pm david w:

19 Dec at Outpost 7-10pm.
Avatar 4:53pm northguineahills:

ok, cool, thanks. And again for your fine program!
Avatar 4:53pm david w:

Thanks, Sem and ngh and all you earfuls.
Avatar 4:55pm fred:

I wish I could attend the next DING! show, this is great but makes me want to hear the thing live
Avatar 4:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Ken's Last Ever, improvised sound collage, ridiculous, here it comes over here! wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm steveo:

Thanks!
Avatar 4:57pm fred:

Thanks David
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Webhamster Henry:

Ding! <tm Mary Wing> Thanks Outposters!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Stanley:

I was a little sceptical about tonight's all percussion show. But I needn't have worried. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Thanks again David.
Avatar 5:00pm david w:

Thanks, Fred, Stanley, Henry. Always appreciate it! Kenzo now!
