Heya Scotty and Monday listening peoples.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm fred:

Good afternoon Scott and listeners
Avatar 3:02pm Chris from DC:

Hey hey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Krys O.:

Good afternoon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm chris:

hey, Scott and folks. emmereffer!
Avatar 3:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Scott. How was your weekend?
I didn't see a Jim Price playlist today, so I couldn't comment that my living room used to be painted a pink hue named Prairie Rose.
Avatar 3:06pm βrian:

I'll bet this artist gets a lot of airplay on Oklahoma A.M. stations.
Avatar 3:07pm Chris from DC:

I was thinking of redoing my place in a different color. Maybe Old Soul.
Avatar 3:09pm βrian:

Pink Hugh? I knew him. Sunblock was his friend.
Avatar 3:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ex roommate & I painted our syracuse place in high-contrasting electric pink + royal blue. One room had pink walls & blue trim, the next room had the reverse. The effect of this would make you violently ill if you ran through the place with eyes wide open.

...ah, youth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Scott Williams:

Halloo pals! Thanks for joining in today, hope you all had a great weekend
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm steveo:

This Crushed Larynx is scary. I need my mommy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm tim from champaign:

Is a crushed larynx the result of glottal fry?
Avatar 3:20pm Bas NL:

Hey Scott and friends!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm steveo:

The word stifle is an anagram of itself.
Avatar 3:23pm βrian:

It's also the fliest anagram of iteself!

I can't go out Saturday, I have to elfsit.

That Julia Holter track was wild!
Avatar 3:27pm mb:

hello Scott and the people.

Felt great to say "Jackie-O Motherfucker" out loud. It did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm tim from champaign:

When I had a radio show in the early Oughts I enjoyed saying "Jackie O Mofo" during readbacks when I played the band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Have I mentioned before that my Mexican boxer alias is El Fist?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm tim from champaign:

Whoa! What is this Clark-Hutchinson, Scott?
Avatar 3:31pm βrian:

Slippery elm might help this guy. Or Ricola lozenges.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm steveo:

thank you everyone for teaching me more about itself; a waltz often gives me a feeling of tumbling head over heels
Avatar 3:34pm northguineahills:

@Ken: El Puno. But luchadores sometimes do go by Spanglish names...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm steveo:

i'd say "nope" but i don't know what to do with the leftover L and U
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm fred:

Is this the Sara Jaffe who did a few fill-in shows on the station?
  3:42pm P-90:

I say: Turntable 3 gets s bad rap
Avatar 3:46pm northguineahills:

Made some Szechuan soup w/ dumplings last night for work this week. I put wee too much soy and fish sauce, so, it's a bit salty, but tasty.
  3:49pm BriJeypoo:

Ahoy hoy!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm fred:

I saw Erase Errata once about a decade ago, but I think Sara Jaffe was no longer in the band at that time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm steveo:

Wild Honey Pie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm tim from champaign:

Is your favorite Beatles song "Institutionalized", Scott?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Travisano66:

Nothing should be chopped, are you insane?
My guess for your favorite song is "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm coelacanth∅:

i've had that discussion and have my 1-lp version of "the beatles" mapped out already. it wasn't that hard, though i did have maybe 5 minutes more that i couldn't fit.
  3:54pm melinda:

Hi all!
  3:54pm rw:

Dear Prudence. Is that one on there?
  3:55pm frenchee:

nah, I say Bungalow Bill
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm coelacanth∅:

dear prudence is excellent!
but savoy truffle and cry baby cry may be my favorites on the white album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm coelacanth∅:

no...long long long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Scott Williams:

no one's guessed my fave yet. 1st to go is easily Oblidibladoodoo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm fred:

My favorite Beatles song happens to be on the white album: Julia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Switchblade Batman:

I now know what hell sounds like.

It sounds like Mr Magic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Scott Williams:

coelacanth∅ #2 for the win!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Parq:

"Mr. Magic" inspires the same simultaneous degrees of delight and confusion as that old "Badger Badger Badger" Newgrounds video.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Webhamster Henry:

Hello music lovers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm steveo:

i've got blisters on my fingers

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Scott Williams:

fletchernyc for the bigger win! Thank you my friend - I'm glad you're enjoying the goodies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm fleep:

Excellent afternoon so far, thanks Scott
  4:12pm rw:

I know I’ve heard long long long but I can’t remember what it sounds like. I think someone even pointed it out to me recently. My brain is fucked.
  4:13pm melinda:

@Parq I don't know badger badger but I agree with the delight and confusion part.
  4:13pm rw:

And whatever fleep says goes for me too
Avatar 4:14pm Bas NL:

I'd say turntable 3 gets all the best records today..
  4:14pm frenchee:

It's very dreamy and quiet, @rw. So let's play, what song would you cut after godawful obla-di?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm chresti:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm coelacanth∅:

i agree with rw @4.13
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Webhamster Henry:

Why don't we cut Why Don't We Do it in the Road and Wild Honey Pie.
Avatar 4:17pm northguineahills:

The Iveys, not to be confused w/ Ivy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm coelacanth∅:

frenchee - don't pass me by; honey pie; rocky racoon...those and obla bla are the absolute definite outies...for me.
Avatar 4:18pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

DANG. Stepped away & promptly missed all this choice Beatles analysis. Must one punch self innaface?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm coelacanth∅:

yeah wild honey pie out. i like why don't we do it in the road, but i'm not sure it would make it onto my single long player.
Avatar 4:19pm northguineahills:

I would make Revolution 9 as long as John Yoko wanted to make (I'd prefer a whole side).
Avatar 4:19pm northguineahills:

cool, new Didkovsky!
Avatar 4:20pm northguineahills:

@Rev: You have to attend the Million Dollar Bash first (I'm going to Fairport's).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm coelacanth∅:

as much as i love it - and i really do love it; revolution #9 would have to be left off the album.
there are some tough choices. that's over 8 minutes long.
  4:22pm frenchee:

yes, Webhamster H, and yes to most of coelacanthØ's edits! I think #9 has to go as well, though I do like it.
  4:23pm fletchernyc:

Hey Bulldog.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@RTD - You seriously need to consider writing a punch self innaface app. Seems like that would be a very useful thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm coelacanth∅:

it's just a matter of do we nix revolution 9, or 2-3 other songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Scott Williams:

@fletchernyc, that's on the Yellow Submarine sdtk, along with my 2nd favorite beatles song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm coelacanth∅:

"whatch gotta say?"
"you know any more?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Carmichael:

You Know My Name, Look Up My Number.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm steveo:

i would just throw out every track and replace them with sweetheart of the rodeo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm fred:

I do have a fondness for Happiness Is a Warm Gun, but that's mainly because of the Pipilotti Rist "cover". I don't really like The Beatles much
  4:29pm frenchee:

oh hey! Long, Long, Long time since I've heard this one. YAY Scott!
Avatar 4:29pm Chris from DC:

We're keeping "Long, Long. Long" I hope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm steveo:

is this the remix version? i guess i haven't listened to this in headphones in long, long, long time
  4:30pm rw:

Oh, I know this one! Thanks Scott!!
  4:30pm jt:

George is all over this "Long Long Long"
  4:30pm melinda:

I haven't heard the entire White Album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm tim from champaign:

I like the extra warbliness of this version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm TomDash:

Chalk another winter up for George!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm TomDash:

Ha! Or another WINNER!
  4:31pm melinda:

Long, Long, Long sounded good though. I vote to leave it in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm steveo:

george harrison, born on sandy bull's birthday....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm coelacanth∅:

that was the original. no remix or alt take there.
Avatar 4:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Not ashamed to admit the Clergy has a favorite Beatles number; gotta be I Want You/She's So Heavy, due to the endless instrumental riff at the end. .. so while y'all are editing down the white album, I'll be extending that coda to fill a CD
  4:33pm fletchernyc:

Only a Northern Song?
Avatar 4:33pm northguineahills:

When I was 4, I got scented markers for my bday. I soon colored in my father's White Album so the text, "Beatles" was lime green. My father yelled at me and spanked me. I now have said album, and would have down the same to my previous self (I only approve of corporal punishment when I apply to myself, hypothetically).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm coelacanth∅:

George wrote probably 5 of my top 10 beatles songs.
  4:34pm fletchernyc:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Aitch:

I like Revolver the most.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm TomDash:

All Too Much...
Avatar 4:35pm Bas NL:

@ngh What did the lime green smell like?
  4:36pm jt:

you ae probably an artist now I hope: "so the text, "Beatles" was lime green.." :but how did it smell?
Avatar 4:36pm northguineahills:

@Bas: the 80s idea of what lime should smell like...
Avatar 4:36pm Roberto:

Yeah I can never get enough of All Too Much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm TomDash:

Private response, Scott - just for you - One of my faves too!
Avatar 4:37pm Chris from DC:

"All Too Much" is pretty brilliant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm common:

Scott, all!
Avatar 4:37pm Bas NL:

@ngh .. ahhh, not like apple..
Avatar 4:37pm Chris from DC:

Best Beatles song they never recorded: Cheese and Onions.
Avatar 4:38pm northguineahills:

@jt: I do visual art, but never display it anywhere (even at home). Now aural art, I play still play out occasionally
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm mrdonutsu:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Webhamster Henry:

If you are a WFMU listener , you don't mind hearing songs you hate between songs you like.
@Chris from D: Neil Innis is one of the many fifth Beatles!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Carmichael:

@Chris from DC: How about Genius is Pain?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm mrdonutsu:

Nod is not to be confused with Gnod...
  4:45pm McGreivey:

I used to have two Nod CDs until somebody stole one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm medson:

Hola Scott, and everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Scott Williams:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm common:

Avatar 4:51pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This here good auridial art, DJ man.
  4:51pm frenchee:

favorite fifth beatle: Billy Preston
Avatar 4:55pm Chris from DC:

I'll second Neil Innes for that position.
Avatar 4:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

No complaint with the Beatles as such, but I'd trade 'em in instantly if we could have Vivian Stanshall back on this earth. Right now.
Avatar 4:58pm northguineahills:

I'm familiar w/ Tim Olive, but not w/ Takuji Naka. Tre nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm chris:

my ears are so happy right now.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Travisano66:

And what was the answer? I cannot find CHRISTIANE F's comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm mrdonutsu:

This is sync-ing perfectly with the banner animation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Scott Williams:

@Travisano66, Christiane F IS the correct answer
  5:12pm Bz:

Still tripping on that Gate track you played last week, but another spectacular show today Scott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Carmichael:

The correct answer was "a pederast". Now it's time for the penguin on top of your television to explode.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Scott Williams:

Thanks Bz! That Gate track is one I'd play every week if I didn't fear the familiarity/contempt conundrum

Avatar 5:28pm Bas NL:

Love the Lassiter.. didn't know this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm mrdonutsu:

Steinski sampled this too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Scott Williams:

voices of loonies are interesting
  5:28pm J:

Maybe to educate. Remind people these voices existed. I can't sit through it though. I had to turn my radio off at work and I had to now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Carmichael:

whoa ..
Avatar 5:29pm northguineahills:

There are probably people like this 50 km from me (I've seen the flags, clothing apparel, and bumper stickers). Lucky to be in the town I am.
  5:29pm doug:

That was sampled on an Econochrist record years ago. I always wondered where it was from...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm coelacanth∅:

there're definitely people like that within a mile of me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Scott Williams:

rumour has it Rocky was a plant
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm tim from champaign:

@doug - I was about to post the same thought.
Avatar 5:32pm Bas NL:

Rocky was a regular prank caller to Bob Lassiter's show.
Avatar 5:32pm northguineahills:

I've read that too, Scott.

Don't think this will win the next Eurovision.
  5:34pm doug:

@tim the full context is.... not surprising
Avatar 5:34pm Bas NL:

Avatar 5:36pm Bas NL:

  5:36pm doug:

Welp, still trolling people successfully today
  5:37pm Garden Variety Lurker:

Poes law seems to apply.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm el_musgo:

great show scott!
  5:39pm convoy_pt2:

Trolls go way back but seriously, there are enough airwaves that put people like this Rocky character on blast - no irony, no reminder that voices like that existed, they still exist and certain irresponsible people in power today have given them a platform. Seriously WFMU is not a place to broadcast it as irony
Avatar 5:40pm TDK60:

I wanna hear this "bed" music up front sometime...okay Scott? Please?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Travisano66:

Uh... Is Chrstiane F a song on the White Album?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm chresti:

Yes -enjoy the backing track! (and the rest of the show)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm coelacanth∅:

convoy - wrong.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Scott Williams:

@Travisano66, ohhh you wanna know what my fave beatles song is? It's Long Long Long
  5:45pm kevlicki:

Hi Scott,
I’ve been listening to your show from Nov5 over and over again the last few weeks, it’s a great playlist. Thank you!!
  5:46pm Mark:

I've loved Michael Gregory Jackson's work for over 30 years! And used to play it on my college radio program... So nice to hear it somewhere else! Thank you Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Scott Williams:

aww thanx kevlicki! and nice to see you here
Avatar 5:46pm TDK60:

DJ SW: Long Long Long is a marvelous choice for a Fab 4 fave.
  5:47pm kevlicki:

Hey TDK60! What did you think of the event at Interference Archive last Friday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Travisano66:

Oh, are you the DJ? Yes!
Ah... That is good. They're all good. I've loved them all since my parent used to play the album over and over on the 8-track in the wood-panel station wagon. It came in 2 cartridges as I recall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Scott Williams:

irony being lost on the irony-deficient is no cause for the long-predicted death of irony
Avatar 5:49pm geezerette:

Skip Spence, soooo purty. :)
Avatar 5:50pm Bas NL:

Without irony everything stays crinkly.
Avatar 5:50pm northguineahills:

It may be a troll, but such attitudes still persist. I sometimes go out of my way to visit rural bars just to explore, 98% of the people I meet are awesome (like the redneck gay bar near my office), but every once in while, I'll meet someone so odious I'll leave. sometimes I reply ambiguously so they think I'm one of "them", just to see what their real opinion is (I can do an authentic Southern accent). Heck, I was tailgating for an college American football game, and some older men (college educated) let the dog-whistles fly when I said I don't watch the NFL (for me, the league is too predictable and boring [and I prefer futbol, anyways])
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Parq:

Wow, the Beatles and Dylan in one WFMU show. Stones, anyone?
Avatar 5:51pm geezerette:

Man, I love this.
Avatar 5:53pm TDK60:

convoy_pt2: I share your concern about the racist caller, but the recording was presented in a context - a past radio show with DJ Lassiter not agreeing; and with our comments board here obviously not. WFMU takes its irony pill if not daily, often.
  5:53pm JakeGould:

Hey Scott! Speaking of irony…
  5:54pm JakeGould:

Is this a Leonard Cohen ditty? If not it sounds like one!
Avatar 5:55pm northguineahills:

Thanks, Scott!
Avatar 5:55pm geezerette:

Hey, it does!
Avatar 5:56pm TDK60:

Hola Kevlicki: I thought it was very informative and with good spirit.

Passionate loons are your best entertainment value.
  5:57pm Zardoz:

This is the problem with America. Over sensitive about everything. Hate to break the news but racism and other forms of hate will always exist. It’s part of the human condition. It perpetuates generation to generation. Anyone who thinks this world will ever be a utopia can forget it. Even utopian societies aren’t perfect.

ngh i do that as well; i'll talk to anyone in the bar (if i'm in the mood to talk to anyone at all, that is) but it does sometimes end up with me telling them i'm not talking with them anymore because they're closed-minded assholes. usually then they leave because by then they'd thought they found a comrade and now their feelings are hurt. (which is good for everyone - including them, for their own safety's sake)

I don’t want a utopia, but I would like to enjoy good bagels, pizza and tacos in peace.
