A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

isn't she a sweetheart @ adrian? I interviewed her on the phone a million years ago when she first resurfaced and was staggeringly sweet, and almost shy about her magic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Adrian in London:

@Trouble She was absolutely lovely, and it was in a very small venue, which made it so much better. She played *so* quietly too. It was great.

Avatar 9:43am Ear Hammer:

So so so happy you got to see the Hilma exhibit! I went a couple weeks back with Mercy and was floored.
Avatar 9:43am northguineahills:

My idea of what is abstract art is off-kilter (seems representative to me), but I always have loved Hilma af Klint.
Avatar 9:44am northguineahills:

@Trouble: I have Espers queued in my car, so, Vashti would be a kiss of wind....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am el_musgo:

YES The Hilma af Klint show is wonderful! glad to hear you're an art teacher Trouble! all these years listening to you and I hadn't realize. Dughhh. Another great show is Chagall, Lessitzky, Malevich: The Russian Avant-Garde in Vitebisk 1918-1922 at The Jewish Museum. Check it out!

Avatar 10:22am Wild Neil||Peace All:

Kaia Kater sounds like Brian Eno's sister or something. Today't theme: wood.
1. Selecting 2x6's to be coated then burned for an ASTM E84 test.
2. Found a supplier for larch, nature's pressure treated wood that is rot and insect resistant for my son's tree house.
Avatar 10:23am northguineahills:

@jordi: buenas tardes o buenos dias aqui
Avatar 10:24am northguineahills:

That sounds like fun, WN!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am SSS:

@Wild Neil - My sister sided her house in larch, which she stained with boiled onion skins (LOTS!)...Looks wonderful

I can dig this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am SSS:

@WN...I know...thinking of doing the same...old Sephardic dying trick...can be done with hard boiled eggs as well...a primitive Easter egg...small amount of vinegar in that one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, Trouble and all!
Avatar 10:33am Wild Neil||Peace All:

Bana Haffer sounds kinda like Reni Jusis, Transmisja album. Same sounding keyboard electronica noise/music stuff. I LOVE this kinda stuff, also that Italian guy who helped Donna Summer, whose name escapes me. I Need Love, Donna Summer guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am steveo:

@ngh that Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith 12" is on Make Noise....

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Dave in Vermont:

Kid Koala did a soundtrack for a comic too, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am SSS:

I have always said my life needs a sound track...might as well be comic
  10:44am Mike tp:

ah marimba on this !!??? nice
Avatar 10:47am northguineahills:

@Dave: wait, I think I have that record/comic (need to look for it at home, now).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am melinda:

@WN I ddn't know that about larch. Cool.
  10:50am katharsis:

For me not knowing i will live to finish my project is part of the process
  10:54am katharsis:

And kind of a motivation to stay alive
Avatar 10:56am Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Melinda-Black Walnut and Larch are both that way. I think Black Walnut is insanely expensive like Ipe which is what the Atlantic City Boardwalk was re-decked with a few years back.Or is it Ipé?
Avatar 11:00am northguineahills:

Jewish mysticism is Zorn's bag!
Avatar 11:01am Jay Goges:

Loving the show
Avatar 11:03am βrian:

Black locust is supposed to be the thing for rot resistance. Pressure-treated wood is nasty.
Avatar 11:15am Sem:

I've never thanked you properly, Trouble, for introducing me to the music of Lonnie Holley.
I am most grateful for your dedication to bringing him to notice here on the Fun 91. Thank you.
Avatar 11:17am Trouble:

my pleasure@ sem! he is a gem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am rsj:

think i passed a biker playing lonnie holley out loud last night on my ride home, though hard to tell from the no fi speaker, many of the best things are mis-heard anyway
Avatar 11:20am Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Brian-frame of tree house 2x6 but all decking, siding and anything a kid can touch will be larch. Have to use special 1" diameter lag screws to secure it to big maple tree in the front yard!
Avatar 11:23am βrian:

Larch will be easier to work with than black locust. It's durn heavy and hard.
Avatar 11:26am βrian:

So is the name "L'éclair" intended to evoke the pastry or lightning?

@adampsyche: Trouble reported Jeff's home and property sustained serious damage due to a house fire. There is a fundraiser at Club Eclipse on Fabyan Pl. in Newark (right off I-78 in the Weequahic area, actually probably only 2-3 blocks from the block Philip Roth grew up). I missed the date and time, however.
