Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm chresti:

is that a salvage yard?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm chresti:

Hi Sam and horsing club!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm chresti:

Do you have a horse?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Sam Segal:

Me? No, 'fraid I'm horseless as the rest of us. Welcome, Chresti! The picture is from an auto dump in Henderson, NV (circa 1972).

If I had a big dirt lot instead of just an apartment, it would look like that photo.
You can order copies of the photo via a link at flickr. Christmas shopping: done.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm Sam Segal:

Howdy, SBP! Had no idea you could get prints of those Documerica photos. I'm very tempted to do the same...
Avatar 9:24pm still b/p:

Speaking of the holiday...I listened a while to Sheena's Jungle. Some material on there, hooo....makes me feel like I been naughty. Santa might not visit and take care of me, yo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm chresti:

I listen to that stream sometimes, Otis Fodder's show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm chresti:

still b/p
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Sam Segal:

Haven't checked it out yet, but I am very intrigued...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Michael 98145:

whoa. Just what i need : yet another stream!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Sam Segal:

The more the merrier, I say. Welcome, Michael!
  10:12pm chresti:

Enjoying this set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Sam Segal:

Appreciate it, Chresti!
Avatar 10:14pm still b/p:

I need a smart dog or helper-monkey here to turn the stream volume back up when I'm done with a phone call and forget for a spell.
  10:18pm Jeff g.:

Great set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm melinda:

hi Sam and friends!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Sam Segal:

Ah, thanks so much, Jeff! That new Hearts & Minds record is a must hear. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Sam Segal:

Ahoy, Melinda!
Avatar 10:24pm still b/p:

John Lurie doing any better these days, in health and personal circumstances?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm melinda:

@Michael I had that thought too but really enjoyed what I've heard, looking forward to more. Also, it appears to have replaced Radio Boredcast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm melinda:

I didn't catch all of the John Lurie talk but he has chronic Lyme.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm melinda:

@b/p I thought he had a new cd out but maybe it was a reissue?
Avatar 10:35pm Franco Twinkie:

Yeah, there was an article in the New Yorker awhile ago. In addition to Lymes Disease he has a stalker, or did. He isn't having a good time. Poor guy. I saw The Lounge Lizards at The Lone Star in NYC long, long ago. A beautiful racket they made.
Avatar 10:35pm still b/p:

I'm not on the twitters, so don't know the narrative he's providing directly. The Lyme comes up and comes up again in tales from people I know who know people with it or who had scares and suspicions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm melinda:

JL had a podcast that lasted few episodes. I liked it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm melinda:

DJ Trouble had him on her show at some point, I found the archived show googling John Lurie WFMU.
Avatar 10:46pm Franco Twinkie:

I loved John in that movie that I can't remember the name of, that him, Tom Waits and some funny Italian guy escape from jail. Those three fellows were a deadly combination.
Avatar 10:47pm still b/p:

Down By Law.
Avatar 10:48pm Franco Twinkie:

Thanks b/p!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Sam Segal:

The car park being discussed was demolished in 2010. Here's what it looked like: i.dailymail.co.uk...
Avatar 10:51pm still b/p:

The movie that gave me a special fondness for the Waits track, Jockey Full of Bourbon, used in opening sequence.

They demolished the carp ark? Shame. Where'd the fish go?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm melinda:

@b/p same here, one of my favorite TW songs. I remember him from Stranger Than Paradise, one of the first indie art house films I saw, didn't know he was a musician until some years later. Fishing With John is great, if you haven't seen it.
Avatar 10:57pm Franco Twinkie:

I only saw DBL when it first came out, but I remember a great scene where the Italian actor is talking about throwing billiard balls at someone that had me on the floor laughing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm melinda:

@Franco nice avatar! saw the masks on chresti's instragram.
Avatar 11:02pm Franco Twinkie:

I saw Stranger Than Paradise at some theater uptown. and was in such a state that I forgot to go to Folk City after and see Gene Clark. Great art can do that - make you forget what you were suppose to be doing.
Avatar 11:03pm still b/p:

I should go back and check Stranger Than Paradise. Saw it when it was new -- and interestingly unconventional --and a couple times later...back before Jarmusch was a big deal in movie-makin'. Paradise had such a motif of blight. With Screamin' Jay!
Avatar 11:07pm Franco Twinkie:

Thanks Melinda! Our friend Rick Potts and Krystine Kryttre made them and brought them over on Thanksgiving night after we all got done with our family stuff. They are the new toys in the house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm melinda:

@Franco does Krystine do comics? Her name is familiar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm melinda:

@b/p yeah, I remember thinking it was rather slow yet at the time it was more exciting to see something unconventional than it is now, especially in a theater.
Avatar 11:16pm Franco Twinkie:

still b/p, I agree. when someone seems to fall out of the sky, like Jim Jarmusch did with that movie, it can really knock you sideways. It did to me. And yes, Screamin' Jay! Okay, just say these words...."Jiffy Squid? Turn that damn thing off!!"
Avatar 11:18pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes Melinda, Krytine has done many wacky comix.
  11:25pm Jeff g.:

Wonderful walking the dog in the rain soundtrack here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Sam Segal:

Oh man, Jeff, if you thought those last tracks were moody and minimal, this one is really gonna put you in some kind of way. This baby runs about 23 minutes at about this energy level.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm melinda:

This is also good bedtime music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm Sam Segal:

That's my game, Melinda...hype em up in the first half of the show and then put em to sleep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm melinda:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Sam Segal:

Sleep well, Melinda!
  11:46pm chresti:

Thanks Sam good night everyone!
Avatar 11:48pm Franco Twinkie:

Thanks Sam. Gotta go get pounded with hot water.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm Sam Segal:

Cheers, Chresti and Franco! Thanks for stopping by.
