Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

good morning john, et al.

here be for your eyes:
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:09am

greetings Rich and John; and Alfred and Norman and Marion

don't forget mother

No one puts mother in a corner.

What's black and white and red all over?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:18am
Ken From Hyde Park:

A zebra with a sunburn?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:20am

how could i forget mother? what a sweet, kind lady. she just goes a little mad sometimes, but she wouldn't even hurt a fly.

I was thinking a zebra who fell into a very large can of red paint but I guess that works too.

an embarassed nun?

who fell into a very large can of red paint

A newspaper that is dipped in blood? Perhaps with $40,000 wrapped in it? Asking for a friend.

a killer nun who is very bloody
Mankato Fish:

This may be one of the best audio moments of my life
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:22am

rich how do you know that the nun is red ALL OVER? i'd like to have *a talk* with this nun of yours.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:23am

this movie seems to be flying by

True story: during the blackout of ... uh... a few years back I got stuck in New York, trying to get back to NJ with no success, so I stopped at a bar around 42 street. A polite woman was having no luck ordering do I ordered a beer for her in my gruff NJ way and we got to talking. It turned out she's an actress, sho is best known playing a nun with her face burning off in a horror film ( directed by a guy who coincedentially I often commuted. With back in the day). So I guess that answers the question.

Thank you Mankato Fish! Yes, this is really flying by. I want it to last and last.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:28am

schnall that sounds like a good blackout right there

Sister Krys on vocals
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:29am

i'm just going to pretend i didn't see that blood in the toilet

If there's blood in the toilet but you pretend you don't see it does that mean a nun's face doesn't melt?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:34am

only if the toilet is in the woods, and the nun kills you...and menstruates on time.
...and no one hears it.

One hand claps at this.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:36am

oh i tried that -clapping with one hand...i got spinning so fast i threw up.

Howdy! What are we talking about?

This is the first Midnight Matinee our new dog Gino is listening to. He chases his tail sometimes.

I guess he's kind of a privates investigator.

it's nice to have a dog that has a profession

Yes, he's very talented.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:43am

rw we were talking about melting nuns and blood but you're choosing the next topic

That's a lot of pressure. I can't compete with that.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:44am

12.38 ha ha! most dogs are

Do people still have fruit cellars? Seems less useful these days.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:47am

people have bagel cellars now
- with cream cheese

This is making me want to watch Psycho again. Suspenseful.

That could be dangerous; huge vats of cream cheese that unwary travelers could drown in.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:48am

hamburger? we got good hamburgers.
piece of pie?

rw, while working on the show I happened upon the Gus Van Sant version of Psycho, and that made me want to watch the real one again. But it's one of those movies (like Harold and Maude, which I should take on one day) that i know do well I don't think I could watch it fresh again ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am
Michael 98145:

we all -do- go a little mad. sometimes.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:51am

might not be the worst way to go, as long as someone throws some lox and onion in.

Check out the song coming up, by regular contributor Ark U Kidden
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:53am

i rarely watch a movie twice, but then i don't watch a lot of movies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am
Michael 98145:

Vertigo is another one of those films that we could watch over and over. But the initial experience cannot be repeated.

I think the Hitchcock movie that best stands up to repeated viewings is The Birds. Motives remain mysterious no matter how often viewed. Strangely satisfying.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:58am

this song was made for this movie. i don't know why it wasn't in it.

True, coel.

that was dope
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:00am

Thanks John that was five stars!

Thanks for letting me into your ear canals!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:02am

i'm gonna havta sleep with the light on tonight though

schnall, that was cool. Thanks man!

And I've never seen The Birds but I don't see many movies. Maybe some day...

thank you john. a pleasure as always.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:26am

rw seeing the birds on tv scared hell out of me when i was little - much more than psycho did. (i think i was maybe 6 when i saw the birds and maybe 10 when i saw psycho, but still)
i'd like to see it again now, though there are so many movies i've never seen that will have to be higher on my list.

I have vague memories of seeing part of The Birds on TV as a kid. So long ago, but I remember it being mostly confusing. I couldn't figure out why the people were scared of birds.

Also... I have a memory of throwing Doritos into the air off the back of a small boat and the entire sky filling with seagulls. There may have been marijuana too. For us, not the birds.

And... my friend Dave used to make a grocery bag full of popcorn every morning when he was working in San Pedro. He said the gulls would recognize his truck and follow him to the job site.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:42am

haha he popped the corn just for them?

Every morning! I think he started to feel responsible.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:47am

i don't remember the birds well. i do remember that some of the fear was based on subtle indications. but as you have witnessed birds can and do work with a hive mind sometimes. i think that's why the movie scared me so much as a child; whereas psycho was not something that could've happened to me.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:48am

did they ever follow him home? THAT WOULD SUCK!

the killer nun is actually a movie with a killer soundtrack by alessandro alessandroni

Dave's an interesting guy. I have lots of stories about him. He's got even more. Related, I was brainstorming with him one time about making a giant bird feeder and he kept wanting me to build a tube that would shoot popcorn into the air. An hour later he called back and said, "Hey, I built it. Come over and check it out" He had hooked up an air pop machine to a dryer fan and a piece of drain pipe hooked to the side of his house and was shooting popcorn into the sky.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:04am

hahaha that's hilarious!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:08am

when i had my own garden i bought 1-2 big bags of sunflower seeds each season. some people said it would just attract more birds -and it did; but they almost never bothered any of my plants. birds will always finds your garden. it's stupid to think they wont be there anyway, eating your seeds before they grow, eating your strawberries and sometimes eating the seeds out of plants that you purposely let go to seed for harvest. i kept them otherwise satisfied + i enjoyed having them there. for some reason they never shit in my garden, even though they perched on the structure i made to hang the feeder from.

That's cool. It's fun when there are a ton of birds in your back yard. Cats like bird feeders too. And squirrels.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:12am

oh and as the gulls learned your friend's truck, some of these birds knew when i got to the community garden and would essentially escort me on my walk from the front to the far back where my plot was.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:14am

yeah squirrels can really ruin it for the birds! smart ones they are

It is frustrating when the critters get your fruits and vegetables though. And that's cool that the birds would follow you too!
Avatar 2:16am
D. Werewolf:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:18am

i never lost more than maybe 30% of my strawberries, and i think that was mostly to chipmunks. i had more than enough.
some of those birds would be okay with me working directly under or next to them, after a while. and we'd whistle back and forth...or maybe i imagined that we were doing that!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:20am

sorry rw to go on - i really miss it.

hi Werewolf

coel, that's fine. I'm trying to resist the temptation to go on about it too! There's a bird sanctuary out here that used to and may still have a viewing room for hummingbirds. It's a room with benches on one side and a window on the other (maybe there's no glass in the window. I can't remember for sure). Anyway outside there are maybe a dozen hummingbird feeders and tons of hummingbirds flying around.

I've tried a couple times to recreate it at my house but the feeders always leak and I can never get it together enough to keep the things filled.

Okay, I've gotta go. Thank you again Rich! Always enjoy the Friday night Carcass and the loopy Midnight Matinee too!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:31am

hummingbirds are cool as hell. i've had crazy close encounters with them. i'll save those stories for another time!

Night coel! Take care everyone and enjoy the remainder of the weekend!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:33am

aright gnight rw and take care

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:41am

well that's a whole other thing!
...i assume i'd have a bigger rodent problem if it weren't for the blessed raptors.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:52am

okay, my tern. it's tough to swallow but i need sleep. this 3 hours has been swift.
Thanks Rich!
take care.

good night everyone. thanks for listening. have a good week. stey tuned for Greg from ZONE 5 filling in for Joe this fine morning.
