Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from November 23, 2018 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I'll tell ya some weird TV shit: I learned yesterday I have sisters and nieces who LOVE....who are ADDICTED to...Hallmark channel holiday movies. They love the sappiness, the fact that you can fall asleep for part of one and rely on the predictability and formula to let you feel still up to speed, and another one just like it is coming right up anyway. One sister feared a drinking game based on the blizzards of cliches would lead to dangerous drunkenness among viewing party friends, so she adjusted to trope-bingo and other alternatives.

You talkin' to me? I've tried to figure out who appeared on the Steele show for years. I remember "Damnation" being part of the name, vaguely recall it as "Angel's Damnation." Now I'm thinking you've solved the conundrum. It was the band you played.

Johnny's stuff on Sun is the best! I was very lucky, one day a friend of mine who does flea markets said to me "Go through that box and take what you want" It was full of Johnny 45's, lot of them on Sun, including the one you just played.

Wendy del Formaggio:

This Trammps song gives me a fun family memory: My sister and I dancing to this song at a long-ago cousin's wedding, while also laughing at my dad and his cousins trying to dance to the tune. Ahh... Being mean and laughing at old people is a fine family tradition. I hope my niece and nephew laugh at me when I dance.
