Wow, you've been Kenzo-fied!
Avatar 5:03pm Mary Wing:

I leave the heavy lifting (i.e., sound collaging) for others, heh.
Avatar 5:10pm northguineahills:

I've been to St Helen's Island many times (where Expo '67 took place) enjoying myself at the Mutek Festival.
Avatar 5:10pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Well, isn't this lovely
Avatar 5:14pm Mary Wing:

"Because I'm a Canadian!" <rimshot>
Avatar 5:14pm northguineahills:

Ian Helliwell, new to me!
Avatar 5:15pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Where'd you get the CD-R
Avatar 5:17pm Mary Wing:

It's here in the library, along with another CD called "Workshop Of The World" which is short tracks.
Avatar 5:20pm northguineahills:

I was hoping for more maple syrup and moose!
Avatar 5:21pm Mary Wing:

It's amazing what you can find in the library; I was looking for a Richard Hell CD and found Ian Helliwell!
Avatar 5:22pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It's funny how this keeps reminding me of Firesign Theatre
Avatar 5:24pm northguineahills:

Now, Expo park is, well, a park!
Avatar 5:25pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I shouted out, "Free the Expo '67"
Till they stepped on my hair, and they told me I was fat
Now I'm very big, I'm a big important man
And the only thing that's different is underneath my hat
Avatar 5:27pm northguineahills:

Oh, cool, I love Tristram Cary!
Avatar 5:30pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Huh this is going to be my new favorite radio timeslot
Avatar 5:32pm Mary Wing:

Heh. Oh hush!
Avatar 5:37pm Mary Wing:

Kenzo actually clicky stars?!?!?! Have I entered the Matrix?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm chresti:

2:40 pst here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Michael 98145:

hadn't heard that particular misuse of 'mood' ...
Avatar 5:43pm northguineahills:

Really dug the Bulgarian Voices Trio (although David did advertise they would be playing at Outpost a year+ ago.
Avatar 5:43pm northguineahills:

Last vestiges of sunlight here down south.
Avatar 5:44pm northguineahills:

I've seen Clams Casino live, it rocked! (I have a few things by him).
Avatar 5:45pm northguineahills:

(He's from NJ)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Exceeding 100% today. Awesome!
Avatar 5:46pm Mary Wing:

Yes, I think he's from Nutley?
Avatar 5:47pm Mary Wing:

I think "mood" replaced things like "it got me right in the feels" or other emotional tones.
Avatar 5:49pm northguineahills:

It's weird, I saw him open for Julia Holter, and w/in a year, he blew up and was producing rapstars....
Avatar 5:51pm Mary Wing:

Funny you should mention Julia Holter...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm chresti:

I wonder if Ian Helliwell still has the analog sound workshop? I've been perusing his link.
Avatar 5:54pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

PSA: If you ever click a song favorite star, and it lights up...and then it turns back off. Fear not, you don't have to click it again. It will light back up on its own within the next minute. It's just a temporary artifact of a DJ updating the song info.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm chresti:

I figured as much-I keep clicking anyway, thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Whatever !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If you clicky a star in the forest, does it make it light?
Avatar 6:02pm coelacanth∅:

oh it's noon already?
Avatar 6:03pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Mary and Winglets
Avatar 6:03pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

coel are you in Japan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm steveo:

hi again! oh, alternate talkover bed for alternate timeslot??
Avatar 6:05pm northguineahills:

Predicting what Mary plays is exhausting (she's a hard noggin to crack).
Avatar 6:05pm coelacanth∅:

Kenzo is that another word for "a sinking ship"?
Avatar 6:07pm northguineahills:

huh, I've never clicky-starred bed music....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm steveo:

does the album title play into the clicky tally? because i see the previous set break has lots of stars but the current set break only has 2.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ngh - a modest man...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...werked overtime - my sense of humor might be askew...
Avatar 6:09pm Mary Wing:

Hi Rev Rab! Just in time; I know you appreciate a nicely played guitar.
Avatar 6:10pm coelacanth∅:

i wonder why when i click the favorite show stars they don't have a "_ other people favorited this" option. they used to.
Avatar 6:10pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Episodes do, programs don't
Avatar 6:11pm northguineahills:

@Rev Rabbit: I humble brag w/ the best of dem....
Avatar 6:11pm Mary Wing:

Yes, steveo, it does, so I try to keep all entries uniform for that reason. YES I WANT MY SONG TO HAVE THE MOST CLICKY STARS EVER!
Avatar 6:11pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Album title plays into clicky tally, yes. Blank album title considered different from provided album title
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Guilty as charged.
Avatar 6:11pm coelacanth∅:

they used to, somewhere. anyway - any reason? or just an oversight?
Avatar 6:12pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Program title count never displayed in the star menu
Avatar 6:12pm northguineahills:

what's this OT you talk about? Isn't a 12-hour work day w/ no compensation normal practice in Western industrial society (that allows me comment endlessly on WFMU)
Avatar 6:13pm northguineahills:

Woah, new ESP, Buck Curran, new to me!
Avatar 6:13pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

There was some kind of popularity contest concern back when favorite stars launched.
Avatar 6:14pm coelacanth∅:

somewhere i have been able to see who else "favorited" a show. long time ago and i don't remember if there was a process to do so; which i would've stumbled upon, as it's not really important to me.
Avatar 6:15pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Episodes yes, programs no, never could
Avatar 6:16pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

You can see that someone favorited a program on their profile page's favorites tab. But you can't see a summary of everyone else's favorites on that same program.
Avatar 6:16pm Mary Wing:

Heaven forbid it turn into a popularity contest, heh.
Avatar 6:16pm northguineahills:

If I had more freetime (besides commenting here), I'd take the challenge to figure it out.
Avatar 6:16pm coelacanth∅:

well i agree with that concern,Kenzo! in fact i think it's bullshit that the fundraiser has turned into that. (except with graver consequences)
Avatar 6:17pm northguineahills:

Is this new Cath & Phil, sweet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...yeah - we should vote each other off the island...what could possibly...
Avatar 6:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

This line of code has always been on the user favs page: $allowed_types = ['song', 'user', 'episode', 'image'];
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Carmichael:

Google just takes the clicky star list and markets the hell out of it, anyway. Heya Mary and citizens.
Avatar 6:19pm northguineahills:

crap, already forced to swim off Woofmoo island....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm chresti:

I click as many stars as possible unless I missed it
Avatar 6:19pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

And this in the javascript for the fav count item in the menu:
if ((fav_count = Math.max(0, (KDBFav.get_fav_count(e.type, e.id) - KDBFav.is_fav(e.type, e.id) )) )
&& (e.type !== 'program')
Avatar 6:20pm northguineahills:

Thanks Kenzo, that saves me more freetime (now I just need to be bored).

chresti creates galaxies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the NSA knows I like incorrect music...that's gonna make the Camp rough going...
Avatar 6:21pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

There's no fav count reading API
Avatar 6:21pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Carmichael! Glad you stopped by!
Avatar 6:24pm coelacanth∅:

chesti you vote with your stars! i only click songs or episodes for my personal use... which means i don't click stars of songs i'm already familiar with, among other reasons; so it's not an accurate determination of what my actual favorites are.
Avatar 6:24pm northguineahills:

Didn't Dolly also do a version of this song?
Avatar 6:26pm northguineahills:

I good set would be of country songs about not liking the city life and returning to the country (green acres them excepted).
Avatar 6:27pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I have found the three spots I'd need to edit to allow program fav counts to appear. That was a fun diversion. Brain wrinkle re-notched.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Carmichael:

I like anyone named Skeeter.
Avatar 6:28pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

And I see that program fav counts aren't computed at all at present
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm chresti:

I've sometimes try to pick out favorites, but clicky star doesn't always mean I liked the sound of it. It might be that I like the title, for instance
Haha Mary!
Avatar 6:31pm βrian:

Damn the electric fence! I missed Maggie and Terre!
Avatar 6:32pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

The most favorites any single song has gotten has been 173
Avatar 6:32pm northguineahills:

Each week, I take my clicky stars, copy/paste into a spreadsheet, delete the tracks I have already, and hope one day I'll revisit and purchase said tracks.

No βrian, Don't Wizz on the Electric Fence!
Avatar 6:32pm Mary Wing:

Oh, I'ma gonna play the hell out the Roches album, Brian, don't worry.
Avatar 6:33pm βrian:

... and I am not a fan of clicky-stars, nor the whole blasted clicky-star culture.
Avatar 6:33pm Mary Wing:

What song got 173 clicks??? OY!
Avatar 6:33pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I use clicky-star to make a note of a song I want to come back and hear again / find
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I presume I am still the most clicky promiscuous...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Michael 98145:

i keep worrying my click list is gonna exceed some array row or other
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm steveo:

ok leaving for real this time thanks, mary!
Avatar 6:34pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

rr the system buckles trying to display yours
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I treated it like interactive faceborg Likes from the start...like applause or something...
Avatar 6:36pm northguineahills:

It will, Michael, that's why I copy mine weekly....
Avatar 6:37pm βrian:

The russians happened to have wired up an array of 173 drinking bird bots that day.
Avatar 6:37pm Mary Wing:

heh. The bloated list of RevRab's faves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...so - if I rilly rilly Like it...you turn yer amp to 10 - where do you go? Nowhere. So - this one goes to 11...
Avatar 6:40pm Mary Wing:

Why not just make 10 louder? >;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Carmichael:

To completely throw this convo off the rails, I would like to be able to give a song from 1-5 stars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...but - this one goes to 11...
...then Carm - dare I say it...we could rool de vurld...
Avatar 6:42pm coelacanth∅:

βrian @6.33 thumbs up to that comment
Avatar 6:45pm Franco Twinkie:

You know something Coel? I vote with my pocket book. If I like a song I drive around endlessly until I find a record store and buy the damn record. not so easy these days. and if that means sitting in the middle of a damn fire, so be it!
Avatar 6:45pm coelacanth∅:

i'd like each song to be an individual game of hangman.
Avatar 6:45pm βrian:

Sometimes I get the sense that folks are so busy bruising their beaks on the keyboard that the really aren't listening. But so it goes. No big worries.
Avatar 6:47pm Franco Twinkie:

Kid Congo! Dude has mojo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Reminds me of 'Song From Bottom of Well' by Kevin Ayers...
Avatar 6:47pm northguineahills:

For all of your Harry Smith fans: www.philiptaaffe.info...
  6:47pm chresti:

I too clicked the likes repeatedly until the expressive circles with facial expressions showed up
Avatar 6:47pm Mary Wing:

He's like the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon of great music!
  6:50pm chresti:

I LOVE clicking on stars!
I don’t have/know if star click function is possible on mobile
Avatar 6:51pm βrian:

... which, to perseverate a little, means that listeners don't spend any time just sitting with their listening experience before considering their response.

Reflexive, rather than responsive, I guess.
Avatar 6:52pm coelacanth∅:

Franco @6.45 i'm not voting at all; but if i had much more money i'd vote as you do. the majority of my musical purchases are bandcamp, and only if under $5. if it's 10 i cannot buy it -'doesn't mean i don't really want it.
Avatar 6:53pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I am happiest when people back away from the computers (handheld or otherwise) and never come back to them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Michael 98145:

@FT, i spend far too much time and $$ at bandcamp.
  6:53pm chresti:

I listen more closely with the earduds
And type less
Avatar 6:55pm coelacanth∅:

βrian that's probably true sometimes; but i'd describe it more like hanging out with other people, listening to music. i've never not been able to engage in conversation while fully listening to music. (though i'm usually doing something else too)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I think of Dylan doc where they talk about him stealing someone's Guthrie's records - cause there was no other possible access
- & George Harrison that after the War in Britain you couldn't get a cup of sugar - much less a Rock'n'Roll record...& Donovan saying he learned Blues from 78 RPMs...
& who gets my $ now?? If anyone - the Internet Provider. Do they even pay Royalties? Any - @ all??
I'm all about Streams & Podcasts - this endless uncontrollable firehose of access I drown - often not attaching an Artist's name to their Sound anymore...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...as far as Support - I forgot to get a career & am poor...
Avatar 6:57pm northguineahills:

You must be very unhappy right now, Kenzo....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Michael 98145:

thanks for another excellent show, Mary W ♫♪
Avatar 6:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hard to say how many people are backing away. Hopefully some. Hopefully.
Avatar 6:58pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Mary, it was a delight. Thank you in both ways.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The Medium is not just the Massage now...it's the Universal Solvent...
Avatar 6:59pm Franco Twinkie:

I was just goofing Coel, I don't buy that much stuff anymore. To many piles around here.
Avatar 6:59pm northguineahills:

Hi five, Rev Rabbitt, I'm poor too (once was not). My career will probably mostly automated in two decades, so, I picked a perfect time to start it (assuming I don't live for two more decades, then again, I never thought I'd live past 35.

Thanks MARY!
Avatar 7:00pm coelacanth∅:

Kenzo you never did say what song got 173 stars. i sure hope it wasn't (takin' a ride)!
Avatar 7:00pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Mary!
Avatar 7:00pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I didn't look to see which one got the 173! I like not knowing.
Avatar 7:01pm coelacanth∅:

i'm okay with that!
Avatar 7:01pm Mary Wing:

Oh, if it is Felder, I will kill someone...

Thanks for listening!!
