Avatar 11:44pm Irwin:

Thanks to Alison Porchnik for poaching today's playlist pic from somebody's FB post.
Avatar 2:56pm βrian:

... and vote Republican.
Avatar 3:01pm βrian:

Ah, the Weekly Lee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Lunchbox3030:

I will be moving to the USA tomorrow so i cant catch the show, but i wish you the best of luck for today irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Michael 98145:

always fine
Avatar 3:09pm βrian:

I'd forgotten that "thing" rhymes with "bang."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Have I been in Puritan-ville too long, or is there something kinda lurid about the term "body wash"? Every time I see it, I think, "It's none of my business what you do with that soap."
Asking for a friend.
Avatar 3:13pm βrian:

I always thought it was just a new marketing mechanism for selling perfume. I mean, is there such a thing as an unscented body wash?
Avatar 3:13pm Hoboken Jack:

Hello all! My car has passed inspection in Secaucus and I am safely back in Hoboken.
Avatar 3:13pm βrian:

Water and baking soda, maybe ...
Avatar 3:14pm Irwin:

Jack, last night in the dark I stubbed my toe. OUCH. I immediately thought of you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Brian, there is, but I think you have to go to health food stores to find it. Also, "unscented" isn't really unscented. They have to put something in there to mask the chemical aroma of the product to make you think there's no scent.
Avatar 3:16pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

So, my son wants to be a soccer goalie so bad. He got jersey #1. Am I a bad dad because I rather he play any other position? I don't want him to get kicked in the face, for instance.
Avatar 3:16pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

He is 8.
Avatar 3:17pm βrian:

And apropos of something or other, my wife has started to buy shampoo bars. They work well, and there're no frigging plastic containers to deal with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm chris:

shampoo bars are a thing? wow. now i know.

hi, Irwin and folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Yeah, the plastic is kinda bullshit...and ubiquitous. And with the global recyclable plastics market in the toilet, it's probably a good idea to avoid it. (Not that I do, yet...) Thanks for the tip on the shampoo bar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm crateslinger:

Wild Neil, just be glad he wants to go outside at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I have not heard this High Llamas song in too long. I love it. Thanks, Irwin!
Avatar 3:26pm βrian:

Can one infer from the playlist theme that Irwin is wearing a deep-orange jumpsuit? There's a certain practicality to that.
  3:32pm Brendan:

Sometimes you just gotta run screaming and kick the cans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Jay Goges:

Oh I love this right now... Thank you Irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Jay Goges:

...Keeping that Wednesday groove going
  3:43pm Brendan:

This used to be a Sears now its a Target .you got it.
Avatar 3:51pm βrian:

Wow, still more House seats are flipping to blue as absentee ballot counting continues. It's heartening.
Avatar 3:51pm Irwin:

Misery Index: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 4:08pm TDK60:

I buy un-scented organic soap, supposedly it is that. Gotta see about shampoo bars.
Avatar 4:13pm Fredericks:

Lettuce reminded me of an Eddie Henderson record I have. Forget the name.
  4:16pm Keith from Oregon:

Excellent segue from Lettuce to Ed Palermo, Irwin; I thought I was hearing a medley from Lettuce!
Avatar 4:20pm TDK60:

Thought that was a Zappa cover. Need to listen to 'Hot Rats' again.
Avatar 4:25pm glenn:

avoid fried foods. they angry up the blood.
Avatar 4:26pm Fredericks:

"Realization" is the record I was thinking of.
Avatar 4:34pm βrian:

I found some stashed beer cans in the attic. I'm guessing 60s-era. Quite sturdy, those. Not easy to crush.
  4:38pm Brendan:

Lava soap with pumice. In a gas station restroom.
  4:38pm flashbazbo:

We need MAGA on fmu! More acoustic guitar artists. Why what did you think I meant? You guys
  4:38pm Brendan:

Oh yeah and a communal towel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Irwin & Irwinians
Avatar 4:44pm quasiblotto:

I think 'Ice Pick to the Moon' is the name of the album by Ron Pate's Debonnair's (sp?), which I think is pre-Fred Lane. Contains a wild version of Volare.
Avatar 4:48pm TDK60:

I vaguely recall that Spooky Tooth LP had a cover of 'I Am The Walrus' by the Fab 4. Don't recall if it was good.
Avatar 4:49pm Irwin:

It sucked. Worst Beatles cover ever. Rest of the album was terrific.
Avatar 4:49pm Fredericks:

I thought Spooky Tooth was the Guess Who.
Avatar 4:50pm Irwin:

I exaggerate. Not the worst Beatles cover ever. Worse would be any cover of "Give Peace a Chance."
Avatar 4:51pm Hoboken Jack:

Hello, Fredericks!
Avatar 4:51pm TDK60:

Irwin: ha! Rest of the album terrific, huh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm coelacanth∅:

"soap" is saponified oil. i thought the term "body wash", though now a marketing ploy, came about with soapless washing liquids.
  4:52pm takalado:

crying time
Avatar 4:53pm Irwin:

4th Spookies LP: "The Last Puff." It's great if you skip the "Walrus" misstep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm coelacanth∅:

it is a terrible cover, but there is an unlimited supply of terrible beatles covers, no?
  4:54pm andrewb:

my favorite version of "Give Peace a Chance" is John Belushi as Henry Kissenger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm dale:

holy cow - love this david mcwilliams!
Avatar 5:08pm glenn:

hell, there's quite a few bad beatles originals. i'm looking at you, ob-la-di ob-la-da
  5:09pm Ochre Ogre:

Sweet CD that Avvays, got picked and got a copy for pledging during the Marathon to this show! Irwin on WFMU, that's Irwin on WFMU...
Avatar 5:17pm CDToaster:

@Irwin, can you, or ANYONE, tell me if/when Sex and Broadcasting will be officially released for purchase on DVD?
Avatar 5:18pm Irwin:

CDT: I think it's either already out or about to be issued, because I was given a copy about a month ago. It was accompanied by an apology because they misspelled my name on the back cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Kat in Chicago:

@CDToaster there is a new package which I have purchased here, limited edition wfmuthemovie.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Kat in Chicago:

they shipped promptly and it is super cute
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm dale:

sex and broadcasting should have been titled 'station manager ken is a prick'. i didn't think the film did the station any favors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Kat in Chicago:

Oh I liked it!
Avatar 5:24pm Irwin:

It's the best documentary about WFMU ever made.
Avatar 5:24pm glenn:

how hard can it be spell erwhin properly?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Kat in Chicago:

No argument there, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Michael 98145:

wow - thanks, Kat !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm dale:

heh heh - true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Kat in Chicago:

You're welcome. I was one of the old Kickstarter backers so I got an email.
Avatar 5:27pm CDToaster:

@Irwin: Wow, that's terrible about your name being misspelled. I'm sorry to hear that.
@Kat: Thank you; I just used the link you provided and got mine. Much appreciated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Michael 98145:

now i'm waiting for the Other Music doc to be completed ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm coelacanth∅:

glenn (@5.08) and that's not the worst, (honey pie; another girl; don't pass me by...) -i'm sure we've been through this!
Avatar 5:32pm glenn:

i love the beatles, but if a song is bad, it's bad, and it's usually a paul song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm coelacanth∅:

my name was misspelled for a photo credit for the author of a book and they stuck a tiny piece of paper in there with the correct name -as if anyone will keep track of that. the least they could've done would be to make it a useful bookmark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm coelacanth∅:

glenn, agreed, and agreed. (although if Ringo had more beatles songs that might change)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm melinda:

@Kat thanks for that link, I just ordered one too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Tommy in Neversink:

I dig this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Kat in Chicago:

hi Melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm chris:

my son's only imdb credit has his name misspelled. damn indie film maker! :)
  5:44pm andrewb:

rocky racoon
Avatar 5:44pm CDToaster:

@melinda: I'm glad I brought the subject up and we were able to get our copies before they ran out thanks to Kat and Kat's kickstarter donation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm coelacanth∅:

chris -i don't know what imdb is! but that's too bad. there's no excuse. it's lack of respect to not take the time to make sure. it's bullshit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Kat in Chicago:

haha CDT. I don't know how else they are publicizing it, so those limited edition copies might be sitting there for a minute. and misspelling Irwin's name is inexcusable
Avatar 5:49pm CDToaster:

@Kat: Agreed, inexcusable. It's a reflection of today's illiterate society.
Avatar 5:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

No Ringo was it??...
Avatar 5:49pm Irwin:

IMDB is crowd-sourced. (Innit?) The typo can be corrected.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm melinda:

@CDT i know, right?
@coel everyone knows IMDB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm coelacanth∅:

Ringo said fuck it and left. Paul on drums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Kat in Chicago:

I think I like this better without the vocals
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm coelacanth∅:

you know that RR! - anyway you can tell.
Avatar 5:50pm CDToaster:

@Kat: If I were Irwin, I'd be more pissed than I could express on the air.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm melinda:

@Kat me too. I din't recognize it at first.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm coelacanth∅:

melinda, i guess not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm dale:

kat - that's why you can never go wrong with the hollyridge strings version.
Avatar 5:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I'ma think if you take a track apart & it's just interesting in another way...they was maybe pretty good...
  5:51pm takalado:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Kat in Chicago:

I'm sure it's lovely, dale :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm chris:

agreed, coel! imdb.com - the movie wiki.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm -Ken:

Is it too late to neglect my bowels?
Avatar 5:52pm Irwin:

CDT: Not pissed at all. It's the best documentary about WFMU ever made.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm melinda:

@Ken never too late!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm coelacanth∅:

ah. Thanks chris.
Avatar 5:53pm βrian:

Fred Lane would urge you to evacuate your bowels.
Avatar 5:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I think this WhiteAlbum thang is gonna bowel me over...least until the AbbeyRoad thang...
Avatar 5:55pm βrian:

I always confuse Toby Keith with Brian Keith. Different, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm coelacanth∅:

my bowels and i have an understanding.
i do eat too late sometimes though; and i do drink liquor sometimes.
i'm courting death. we have an understanding too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Kat in Chicago:

Rum, sauerkraut and wienies. Death would approve.
  5:56pm Garden Variety Lurker:

I dispute the historical accuracy of this Toby Kieth song.
Avatar 5:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Brian Keith is OK w/ the DixieChicks...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm coelacanth∅:

(RR - which makes him a better human being)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm coelacanth∅:

(not kidding, by the way!)
Avatar 5:59pm βrian:

That's Mike Pence in that Indiana gov't poster, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Irwin!
  5:59pm Garden Variety Lurker:

Toby Kieth... Boot in the ass... Neglected bowels... There's a joke here somewhere....
Avatar 5:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
