Cal Zone!:

That Ninapinta album is one of my favorites. Thousands of records at my house, and I frequently go to that one!

The new Beatles

... is crazy. and haha i found that Ninapinta a couple weeks ago!
Avatar 11:34am

Nick Lowe keeps on tickin'! And Los Straitjackets has made a real business out of their instrumental prowess for well over 20 years now. Do they wear the masks when they tour with Nick?

guys - gotta head over to the family lunch... nice show goin' - will have to archive later... rock on.

Man, what are you making me remember all these bad relationships on this fine day!?!

Bobby Irwin rocked.
A great guy to have a drink with after the show.
Avatar 11:45am

A very human story. Dysfunction is everywhere. Power + dysfunction can be acidic.

Like Todd!
Avatar 11:46am

Converting coke to airplay.
Avatar 11:48am

That's where the cutout bins came from.

This is the most amazing person in the history of the world and I'd like to be put on her security detail.
Avatar 11:50am

All the charts before Soundscan are suspect. And Dorothy is describing how they got around Soundscan with quantity deals on stiffs.

Thank YOU!
Avatar 11:59am

The music business is like working for Satan!
Avatar 12:01pm

The game is easy to play when you're making the rules: Music business, corporate boards, government.

So malleable. Very DIY
Avatar 12:05pm

Attempting to equate locker room talk with actual abusive behavior waters down the sins of the abusers. Don't fall into that trap.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm

supposedly both Ertegun and Jerry Wexler were involved in a lot of recording sessions - they might have had some input/suggestions. With that said, it wouldn't surprise me for a second that the credit was a cash grab.

Great and disturbing interview Michael.
Glad I did not stay at CBS and became a teacher instead.
Avatar 12:28pm

Dick Thunder! That kinda jumps off the label atcha, no?
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2024 Swag For Life Member 12:29pm

Tommy Falcone's wife still lives in the same house in NJ. Not too far from where I live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm

Sid, that name alone should have guaranteed stardom.
Avatar 12:30pm

Johnny, exactly. Good for at least one hit on its own.

Easy to believe Ertegun could be
a real shit:<
Based on direct observation
a number of artists valued
his deep knowledge/experience
best book I have found
on 70s/80s
independent promotion etc.
is Hit Men by Dannen
great show Michael!
Joe R.:

Glad you found that Cleopatra comp, Michael. There’s another track on it that I think is a total number one hit - but I won’t spoil the surprise in case you play it down the road
Cal Zone!:

The Little People! The drummer, wow!
Avatar 12:38pm

Party-gras. Gotta remember that.

afternoon Michael and everyone!

Sounds a little like a young Nick Lowe. A little.
Avatar 12:54pm

Reminds me of a young Boo Hewerdine a bit.
