Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm chresti:

can you choose your spirit animal or does it start following you around?
Avatar 3:21pm david w:

If I remember my Carlos Castaneda correctly, the animal finds you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm doctorjazz:

Hello, David and folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm chresti:

in that case, it's either a cat or a squirrel
Avatar 3:24pm david w:

djazz on the wire!
Avatar 3:26pm `:

Pretty sure I have a spirit menagerie.
Avatar 3:28pm david w:

Kabuki indeed. And I like the menagerie concept, mirrors my multiple personalities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm chresti:

me too kabuki-ette! There's lizards, birds, snakes, possums...
Avatar 3:29pm `:

David, Chresti, exactly!
Avatar 3:30pm `:

Very fond of ravens, they're funny.
Avatar 3:33pm david w:

Ruth has three parrots upstairs, and they all look at me like they know secrets about me.
Avatar 3:36pm `:

They probably do!
Avatar 3:40pm coelacanth∅:

hello david and all ensembled
Avatar 3:41pm northguineahills:

I love corvids too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm chresti:

Now, that sounds like a familiar, if they know your secrets?
Avatar 3:42pm northguineahills:

GAIAMAMOO, new to me and digdug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Doug Schulkind:

We all know the secrets, David. Birds can wield Sharpies® on bathroom stall doors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm chresti:

Thanks to you, David, I now have a new crush, as well!
Avatar 3:43pm northguineahills:

Can Zeena play the Israeli song, "Zena"?
Avatar 3:45pm coelacanth∅:

i saw some birds wielding shar peis. THAT was scary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm chresti:

oh yeah! The hawks like to dive-bomb little dogs in the park
Avatar 3:47pm david w:

coelacanth∅, that is scary stuff. And Doug, I always carry a Sharpie like all good sound engineers.
Avatar 3:51pm `:

In Big Sur we saw a Raven flying with a croissant in its beak.
We've also watched a kitten and a Raven playing together like best friends. Never seen one tagging with a sharpie but wouldn't surprise me at all.

Avatar 3:55pm david w:

Thanks, '. The Gong's don't have much released, but I believe they have a record deal now.
Avatar 3:56pm david w:

@ngh: do you mean that song the Weavers sang, Tzena? I loved that song as a little kid.
Avatar 3:58pm northguineahills:

Yep, I sung it in chorus as a kid!
Avatar 3:59pm coelacanth∅:

geezerette, you've developed an accent
  3:59pm G:

Gong3 http://gonggonggong.bandcamp.com
Avatar 4:01pm david w:

Thanks, G. Appreciate that.
Avatar 4:02pm `:

Coel, hat kind?
Plus, shar pei was funny!
Avatar 4:03pm `:

...what kind? (sheesh!)
Avatar 4:06pm david w:

Good one, coel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm chresti:

': accent, I believe
Avatar 4:08pm `:

OH! :) Thanks Chresti!
Avatar 4:08pm coelacanth∅:

a grave accent, no? (i don't really know about these things)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm chresti:

yes-accent grave
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm chresti:

`there it is
Avatar 4:10pm coelacanth∅:

i especially liked that last piece by gong gong gong
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm chresti:

Moore recently collaborated with LAFMS folks
Avatar 4:12pm `:

Not too sharp myself today. I've got multiple copies of Strunk & White but don't know what a grave accent is.

Man, Thurston Moore!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm chresti:

@coel- me too!
Avatar 4:13pm coelacanth∅:

...on the scenic overlook points somewhere in i think it was colorado the ravens liked to hang out, it seems. they may have been interested in food but they weren't pushy and just hung out next to me. i didn't even have any food and there were other people there who might've.
so that was my totem for the time being.
...many people don't realise that you may have a main totem your whole life; or your totem can change at stages in your life...and you can have "lesser" or secondary totems that are more short term, such as during a crisis or change - along with the "main" totem.
...it seems very silly but there are things certain people would benefit from learning from the ant! i have doubts that it's anyone's lifelong totem though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm chresti:

geeze- it's a french thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm chresti:

I respect ants because they eat termites
Avatar 4:17pm coelacanth∅:

they also protect peonies from other insects. (though it's only in their best interest!)
Avatar 4:17pm david w:

The Edward O. Wilson book on ants. Stunningly fabulous.
Avatar 4:19pm `:

Thanks, Chresti.
Ants are fascinating.
Avatar 4:20pm coelacanth∅:

(not that i especially like peonies!)
- that's something to put on my list, david.
Avatar 4:21pm david w:

Thanks, coel. Suddenly I'm taking all this more seriously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Stanley:

Quietly, listening and digging. This piece is bonkers good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm chresti:

ants also help figs ripen
Avatar 4:27pm coelacanth∅:

chresti i've read that but i don't remember how they do that.
Avatar 4:28pm david w:

Stanley! Yes, Thurston really brings it here. So tuned in to the moment.
Avatar 4:29pm northguineahills:

Always dig Thurston.
Avatar 4:31pm northguineahills:

I had ants herding and milking aphids in my garden. I ordered some ladybugs, and they still were able to take care of the aphids even w/ the ants guarding them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm chresti:

they enter a tiny opening, at the bottom of the fruit, which stirs things up , making it possible for the fig to fertilize itself-something like that
Avatar 4:34pm coelacanth∅:

that alltotems.com thing is pretty ridiculous though. "when you encounter the ant..."! ...yes on that rare, unprecedented occasion that you encounter an ant you obviously need to step up your confidence!
- i encounter thousands of ant many days...but also wasps, spiders, bees, chipmunks, dogs, beetles, squirrels, woodpeckers, stinkbugs.......all my totems i guess!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm chresti:

you can get the same result by inserting a toothpick and turning it
Avatar 4:35pm coelacanth∅:

i've read about wasps fertilizing figs, and being an internal flower, they do get stuck in there sometimes.
Avatar 4:37pm coelacanth∅:

Thurston's in the zone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm chresti:

I tried the toothpick method on a tree that was growing in an alley-it worked, they were delicious
Avatar 4:39pm fred:

Good afternoon David and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm steveo:

i wanted to use the toothpick method to have children, but my wife said it doesn't work for humans
Avatar 4:40pm david w:

Fred, welcome to the spiritual noisefest.
Avatar 4:40pm coelacanth∅:

gotta go , might not be back befor e5
Thanks David! later on spirit animals!
Avatar 4:41pm david w:
