Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18am Scraps:

Avatar 3:22am Jay/London:

65 years ago Scraps !!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22am BronwynB:

yeah that swamp boogie song did not help with my valiant efforts not to fall asleep on the soundboard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23am BronwynB:

i liked the hardrock gunter song though, my grandparents probably dug it when they were 14 and 22 respectively
Avatar 3:25am Jay/London:

@ Bronwyn Has ha ... and love is says on ... where have u been ( with instrumental accompaniment )lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26am Scraps:

My parents were first generation rocknroll, born in 1942.
  3:31am Betsy O:

Born in 1952, listened to my Mom’s 78’s, mostly big bands, but also Little Richard and Chuck Berry,... so it’s all my Mom’s fault she raised a hippie who became a punk and who is now an oldster glued to FMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35am Scraps:

Betsy, excellent!
Avatar 3:37am Jay/London:

i was born in 1954 so about the same as u Betsy .. yes Glued is the word :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38am BronwynB:

that's so cool betsy :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am Cmurtha:

  3:45am Betsy O:

Thanks all, enough brain cells were saved to still appreciate free form radio at its best. My summer visit to my 94 year old Mom included taking her to the Cranbrook Academy of Arts exhibition on Punk era posters and graphics, and she totally loved it!

Avatar 3:50am Jay/London:

@ Betsy O: looks like the walls in my local pub :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50am Scraps:

I haven’t heard that Fiery Furnaces one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50am BronwynB:

that is so cool! your mom sounds like the coolest :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51am BronwynB:

@scraps: its a great one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53am Scraps:

Chairs Missing is my favorite rock album ever. Yes!
  3:53am Betsy O:

@Jay/London,... your pub sounds like a destination stop to be put on a vacation list one day. What is the name of your pub?
Avatar 3:54am Jay/London:

its the fiddlers elbow Betsy O:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59am Scraps:

Posies, another Washington (Bellingham) band!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02am diciassette:

Did they not do a Beatles cover? Hullo Scraps, Jay, London, Bronwyn, Jersey City, 1942, 1952, 1953
  4:02am Betsy O:

@BronwynB,... yes indeed, I was blessed with a cool Mom who tolerated my many transformations. She appreciated early Rock and Roll, a huge early Elvis, Patsy Cline, Jerry Lee, Little Richard fan. She liked my Janis, Dylan and Hendrix records but had a hard time taking to my Stooges a d MC5 albums, much less what came later. I also took her to see Elvis and Tom Jones in Detroit in the mid-70’s,... wonderful yet strange memories! How about you, any parental musical influences?
Avatar 4:03am Jay/London:

@ Betsy O: picture of inside the pub www.facebook.com...
Avatar 4:07am Billy Jam:

hello Bronwyn B and fellow WFMU listeners -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08am BronwynB:

my parents introduced me to a lot of music. Richard Thompson who i played earlier was a big one. also Leonard Cohen, Burt Bacharach, all kinds of great music from the 60s and 70s, also classical music (from mom) and old country (from dad)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08am BronwynB:

hey diciassette and billy :D
  4:11am Betsy O:

@Jay/London,... what a wonderful pub and musical venue, so intimate, plus I love all the vinyl on the walls, wooden chairs and red sofa,... feels like a home away from home. Thank you for keeping a place for new music and artists to perform and keeping rock and roll alive!
Avatar 4:15am Jay/London:

i do nor own it Betsy O: .... here a short vid of some of the bands that have played there www.facebook.com...
  4:15am Betsy O:

@BronwynB,... your eclectic musical tastes were well cultivated by Mom and Dad, bless them for providing us with a wonderful DJ to take us through the early morning hours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17am BronwynB:

thank you so much :)))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21am diciassette:

I've had 1952 Vincent Black Lightning stuck in my head for several days and I appreciate everything your'e doing to get it out.
  4:22am Betsy O:

@Jay/London,... thanks for the video link to the local pub you call home, very lively and fun, plus I imagine anyone who calls it there home pub has an ownership of sorts to it by keeping it alive and profitable, it sounds exactly as it looks, and that’s a very good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29am BronwynB:

@diciassette: that is my parents' "our song"...they love richard thompson, it's a favorite of their favorite radio station WXPN, and my mom has red hair! my dad doesn't have a motorcycle though...he rode one once and fell off
  4:30am Betsy O:

Thank you Bronwyn and Jay for the early morning conversation, plus I’ll be tuning in more often Bronwyn to your shows, good night and morning to the both of you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31am BronwynB:

see ya betsy, thanks for tuning in :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am jkeigh:

Good Morning Bronwyn and fellow sleeping lovers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38am Scraps:

Sigh... I love Richard Thompson. And I hate that song. To me, it’s so generic, James Dean / motorcycle / death etc, and everybody loves it, and Thompson plays it every show arrrrggghhh!

Um. I’m wrong, of course. Sigh...
Avatar 4:39am fred:

Good morning Bronwyn, radio family Scraps, and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40am Scraps:

Hey brother fred
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43am Satis-factory records:

Yesss Disco tex & the sex-o-lettes! I have this song on tape!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44am diciassette:

I feel like a good antidote for Vincent 52 is On the Road to Fairfax County by the Roches (it's got your outlaws, death, etc. and it's wry af)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47am Scraps:

I just love singles from the seventies.
  4:49am yipppie:

Thekenschlampen in english
  4:51am val:

any other New Yorkers just also awoke ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53am BronwynB:

agree that vincent 52 is a bit cheesy but i am a sucker for that part where he goes "i got angels and aerials in leather and chrome, swooping down from heaven to CARRY ME HOOOOOME"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53am BronwynB:

@scraps: the best kind!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am Scraps:

Dance dance dance dance dance disco Lucy van Pelt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am BronwynB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06am jkeigh:

My pet King Kong sometimes barks. Only when he wants a treat, which for him is an entire cow....
  5:13am Miles:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20am Scraps:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22am Scraps:

Woe, woe, woe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am diciassette:

Holy smokes! We used listen to this in the car when I was a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24am diciassette:

And Webern! (What, do you dislike Berg?) [ ;-) ]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35am BronwynB:

actually berg is coming up!! no webern today...next time :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45am Scraps:

Thirty-odd years ago, when I had a college radio show, I once did a half-hour of thirteen versions of“Mondestrucken” of Pierrot Lunaire. (It was very varied!) Some people really liked it; some . . . didn’t.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46am BronwynB:

i love pierrot lunaire!!! i think i played something from it on my very first radio broadcast ever when i was in college
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51am Scraps:

God, I love Pierrot Lunaire. Have so many....

Do you like Peter Maxwell Davies? (Specifically “Eight Songs for a Mad King”?)
Avatar 5:56am fred:

Thanks Bronwyn
Also, it's kinda weird seeing a pic of Boulez on a WFMU playlist, as those are still displayed in many places where I work. Then again, I often wear a WFMU T-shirt at work, so it evens things out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57am jkeigh:

Boulez is one of my favorite conductors. Was so sad when he passed a few years ago. Thanks for a great show Bronwyn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58am Scraps:

Anyway. Awesomely awesome, as usual. Cheers.

And everybody, cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58am BronwynB:

thanks for listening guys!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59am BronwynB:

i have never heard of peter maxwell davies! i will have to check him out
