Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

good afternoon; my, how spooky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Webhamster Henry:

Nice processing -- those mice needed a little variation!
Avatar 3:09pm Sem:

Hello, David, Ruth and Ridgewoodians. Steveo, Webhamster Henry, and, just returned from Toulouse, it is Stanley!
Avatar 3:09pm david w:

Yeah, the mice got smooshed!
Avatar 3:11pm david w:

I knew Stanley would be pleased, and nice to see steveo and WHenry and Sem along for the ride today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm steveo:

enjoying greatly, thanks
Avatar 3:21pm david w:

Thanks, steveo. I think some people will be surprised by the variety of Basinski as illustrated in this show.
Avatar 3:24pm βrian:

@Sem: how was Toulouse? Were the markets full of chanterelles and Reine Claude plums?
Avatar 3:28pm david w:

Greetings, βrian and please, Sem, do tell us what was happening in Toulouse.
Avatar 3:31pm northguineahills:

The first time I saw William Basinski, I wasn't impressed. The second time, he blew me away. (nice chatty bloke, both times, nice lad!). I used to dj years ago at the same 'party' Lawrence English used to dj ambient sounds. Never saw him live, unfortunately.
Avatar 3:31pm Sem:

@βrian & David: he is a man of some mystery, perhaps Stanley will dish about Toulouse, perhaps not. Enigmatic, you know.
Avatar 3:34pm βrian:

@Stanley: See misdirected query to Sem @3:24.
Avatar 3:39pm david w:

I understand, ngh (and Sem). Really a cowboy musician from Texas, but everybody thinks he is some mysterious European intellectual.
  3:44pm Brach:

what part of Ridgewood is this anyway
Avatar 3:46pm david w:

Existentially or by subway?
Avatar 3:50pm northguineahills:

The part of Ridgewood where you can skip to your lou to Bushwick (if you're broadcasting from outpost, or whatever it's called these days).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Michael 98145:

love this { williambasinski.bandcamp.com }
Avatar 3:54pm david w:

True! Ridgewood seceded from Brooklyn after the 1977 blackout riots. This spot is the Halsey stop on the cursed L.
Avatar 3:55pm david w:

Thanks, Michael. There is a lot of good stuff out there for the curious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm steveo:

the B26 is an interesting ride....

Avatar 4:01pm david w:

I like the bus. Hello, chresti!
  4:03pm Stephanie:

J'adore! thank you... making me sleepy!
Avatar 4:05pm david w:

Stephanie! Embrace the shadows...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Stanley:

I just want to say that I am enjoying these recordings immensely.
  4:06pm Stephanie:

I will later...!
Avatar 4:07pm david w:

When Stanley is happy I am happy.
Avatar 4:11pm david w:

Basinski is revealing a new piece here at Outpost tomorrow. Poke around here: outpostartistsresources.org
Avatar 4:12pm northguineahills:

I was in Bed-Stuy for the 2003 Blackout. Our neighbors told us to stay inside and not come out until everything was resolved (sort stood out in there back then). But me, being me, went w/ my downstairs neighbor to get beer. There was a block-sized bbq party, and, luckily, no rioting happened. (One of the few times my safety wasn't issue there in those days). It was fun, except having to shower every other hour just to not overheat.
Avatar 4:14pm david w:

@ngh: I walked that day from Times Sq. to Williamsburg. No subways, but free melty ice cream at shops along the way!
Avatar 4:18pm βrian:

@ngh: And stars? Could you see stars??
Avatar 4:19pm northguineahills:

You said Basinski is sold out tomorrow? I would buy my wife a ticket if there were some (to document it for me, I'm rather selfish).

βrian: Yeah, that night we spent most of the night on the roof and it was beautiful. (still better views in humid swampland).
Avatar 4:20pm david w:

@ngh: there are tix to the 9pm show available.
Avatar 4:22pm northguineahills:

cool, thanks David, later works better for her new work schedule.
Avatar 4:32pm Mary Wing:

I love The Disintegration Loops so much, even though it hurts to listen to them, sometimes.
Avatar 4:33pm david w:

Mary, totally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Michael 98145:

definitely a certain sadness ..
Avatar 4:39pm Sem:

Feel I have a better grasp of Basinski's work through this retrospective today. Thank you, DW and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Michael 98145:

one for the archives
Avatar 4:45pm david w:

Thanks, Michael, thanks Sem. I, too, got a much better appreciation after immersing myself in this work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Stanley:

This has been great
By the way, Sem, I ate fried whole walnut fruits in Toulouse with my pork and mash potatoes.
Avatar 4:56pm david w:

Thanks, everybody!
Avatar 4:57pm northguineahills:

I saw Richard Chartier do an installation in midtown where he had copper oxide mixture dripping into a pool and the drop would light up on contact w/ the water. There was no light in the gallery, and it was backed by one of his minimalist tracks. It was magical!

Thanks david!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Michael 98145:

thank you !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Michael 98145:

Okay - this is probably my favorite discovery of the month. Thank you.
